I don't understand the obsession with this 100GB SIM.
It seems like a terrible promotion to me. If they're attracting customers with this it just shows that their existing plans are too expensive or don't offer anywhere near enough data. For customers, it seems like a terrible choice - being given something they'll never be able to keep. |

I don't understand the obsession with this 100GB SIM. Depends on your prospective I suppose. Having more than the 20GB / month available from my ID Mobile Broadband Sim is a nice little bonus, especially over Xmas when i'll be off work for the Holidays. The 4G is good too, something that the ID Mobile sim doesn't offer in this area - currently 3G only. For customers, it seems like a terrible choice - being given something they'll never be able to keep. As I've already posted on the UKHD comments, these sims allow me to experience streaming media like Netflix and Catch Up Tv, the kind of things that a rural BT 512k -ish ADSL connection simply won't do!. That said, I don't use anything close to the 100gb given, but its nice to start streaming a film or program without having to first religiously check how much data allowance I have left or count down the days left until the allowance renews!. But yes, if I was lucky enough to have Evening & Weekend access to 38 mbps Fibre or even a basic 5 mbps ADSL connection at home, I probably would only be using a 500mb sim in my phone, and these 100GB offers would hold little interest. |

Amazing deal really especially as they've done this 3 times this year if I recall. Some have found you can get the free 100GB and keep the £10 top up for using later (I did on one of mine)
I used one of these in an android phone usb tethered to an offsite PC and it ran for several months without any interruption - I was surprised any phone would stay tethered and connected for such a long time without crashing. This was done until a permanent wired network connection was made to this server. |

The reason I've just moved to a 50GB PAYM plan is because of my discount. I probably won't use the extra 30GB data but I now get 1000 mins of 084/0870 calls instead of the bundle I had before, so save a little per month. Plus 1000 MMS.
100GB of data is obscene and is offered because 99.9999% of people with the sim will go nowhere near hitting the limit. |

I got one of these a couple of months ago and it's still passing data fine.
Does the 100GB have a time limit? |

The only people I know who use the SIM are very technically minded and tend to use as much data as they can.

With EE nearly always starting another 100GB promo as soon as the previous one has ended, anybody with a dual-sim handset could be having a whale of a time...
![]() Effectively 100GB of 4G data for £5/month... SIM 1: Voice/SMS (With your actual number you use for day-to-day calls/texts) SIM 2: Data (EE 100GB SIM) No need to mess around porting number in or out to get this deal almost consistently. Bargain. |

I wish a company would bring out a plan where you could buy a bloke of data and use it till you run out rather than have a time limit of 30 days etc imposed. I've got a netbook with a 3G SIM card slot but don't use it enough for a monthly plan, but being able to buy a 100Gb SIM card for the rare times I wanted to use it would be ideal.

Using a dual sim phone as above, would you be able to receive calls when using data though?
Definitely works. |

That's an excellent suggestion. Shame Apple don't do a dual sim phone

Seems like good business sense to me - gets you into data-hungry habits like tethering. You will then find yourself wanting more when you actually join up. My usage has shot up recently - it's looking likely I'll have to change from 2GB to 4GB.
On the downside, I'm on EE's unloved stepchild: SIM-only. It seemed at the time to be a good idea to commit for 12 months since it's cheaper to - until my Dad on his 1 month rolling contract quickly demonstrated the advantage of being able to cancel at any time - when you call up to negotiate they will bend over backwards because they don't have you pinned down for 12 months. He's now getting more data than me for less than me. |

I wonder how many they shift?
There is speculation they keep doing this to both gauge how much people do use if fairly unrestricted and more importantly, can the network cope? In essence it's part of their testing process. |

The past one I used the whole 100gb twice Mind you I do get 98mbs at work, wondering what speed I'd get if the 100mbs speed cap wasn't there!

I wouldn't have changed from my iPhone to an Android handset if it were for two things; Dual Sim & Native VoIP. It is indeed a shame.

The UK networks don't seem to like dual-SIM at all! A LARGE number of dual-SIM Android handsets are just not available officially in the UK market.

I ordered my Christmas 100gb sim last weekend but I still haven't received a confirmation email from EE that it has been sent and still nothing through the post. Usually when I order those EE 100gb sims I instantly get a confirmation email and the sim arrives a couple of days later but not this time.

If they did a permanent 20 - 25GB sim at a reasonable cost I would jump ship considering the speeds are excellent for me on EE.

If the majority started to use this amount of data then 4G could easily rival fibre for broadband....but is the system (and backhaul etc.) up to doing this?
I always download my files at home and copy them to my mobile to watch it on tube. |
