Take That's new single "Hey Boy"
Really good new single from the current version of TT. Not sure how it will perform in the charts but it is very much like "These days" with the later being the better single.
Have you heard it and if so what do you think to it? They also performed it on TFI tonight as well. |

I was completely underwhelmed by Hey Boy if I'm totally honest.
Give me Back For Good, Patience or Rule The World any day over this new song of theirs. |

This is the new sound now for TT as a trio .It won't change unless we aee a full reunion next year . "Hey boy" is a very good single but i think it will have little impact on the charts . I am guessing number 17 then totally sinking . The single is all about promoting the new extended version of III and the dvd tour.

Sounds interesting, but it won't dent the charts i don't think. They have built up such a massive fan base over the years and they don't need to rely on the charts. The fact is that you have so many avenues now where you can listen to music without having to download with the likes of youtube and streaming sites like spotify and tidal. I'm right in thinking that "These Days", the first single from the album went to no.1, didn't it now?

Yes you are right "These days " was number 1 and it beat Band aid dire rehash of that song . Gary and co are very clever and probably know that good chart potions for singles don't mean anything now . Like you said so many ways to listen to music now. When TT albums start charting badly and the tours don't sell out that's when its time to quit for good but with Robbie and Jason likley to rejoin for a greatest hits tour soon TT aren't going anywhere just yet .
This current version of TT is a lazy version . They know the fan base is there and can keep them happy with a new album and tour every couple of years . TT don't need to prove anything anymore. Whilst the band and the fans continue the love affair why stop? |

Hmm, I'd prefer if a band stayed true to their roots and continued making good quality music to keep the fans happy. That way, artists will always win over new fans even if its purely because of one new gem that they've released.
By just releasing any old crap because they can't be bothered to produce another classic is just plain lazy. Sure it keeps the fans happy but it just feels empty. They know they've got nothing to prove anymore so they'll just release what sounds like a song that wasn't considered good enough to make the album last year, so are just release it now for the sake of promoting the tour. It's such a non song.

Strange thing is I think they have made new fans with each album and sound. These days won them a lot of new fans and the whole dance theme on the last album won a few over as well but maybe lost a few of the dire hard fans. TT lll sound is very much like Hey boy and These days . TTIII is a new version of the band so they needed a new sound. A lot of the last album had a taste of all the previous TT albums including the new sound as well.
If Robbie rejoins the band and not Jason then I will be very interested to see what kind of sound they will do then as it will be another new version of the band. Gary and co wont be bothered about the stupid singles charts now which is why Hey Boy is a single. Remember it is only a single for a extended version of the current album and not a first single from a new album. if it was then Hey boy wouldn't be a first single or a single at all. I will be interested to hear the three other new songs and to see if they give us a hint in to the future sound of the band. |

Love Take That. I like Hey Boy but its not their best, that said, it deserved far more success than it has achieved. However, for a group thats on the go for 25 years they are still doing very well. How many acts from the same era are even heard of today.
