Take That III performance
The latest albums sales and awards is a MASSIVE drop from The previous three albums - and you can't blame people "not buying like they used to". A huge number of their fanbase has deserted them

Having heard Hey Boy on YouTube yesterday, it just sounds like a band desperately trying to hold onto what success they have left.
It's such a far cry from some of the brilliant songs Take That were releasing only 8-9 years ago. The 90s gave us Back For Good, Never Forget and A Million Love Songs. The 00s gave us Patience, Shine and Rule The World. The 10s gave us The Flood (which isn't well remembered nowadays but I thought it was a decent song at the time) It's been downhill ever since. These Days and Hey Boy? Hardly classics imo despite the former somehow managing to get to #1 on fairly low sales. |

I'm not sure why you would say you can't use sales being down as an excuse when this is the case for the majority of the industry these days, and for almost everyone that has been along as long as take that have. The fact there lead single and album both went number 1 last year still indicates there doing better than the majority underneath them.
Besides theres more money to be made touring these days and I don't see there ever being a point in their career when they are unable to shift big sales on their tours |

There getting older now and really they're no longer Take That...there's only three of them for god sake. It's ridiculous! When they perform as a trio it just looks like three men who are past it doing cabaret. They still make huge money from touring and I think that will continue as people want to hear the hits...although even with that I'm not too sure, as I don't know how exciting people will find the just three of them on tour.

Any Album by Take That after the Progress era was always going to sell less. "Progress" was one of the biggest selling albums ever in the uk and of course featured Robbie. III was a whole new start for TT and almost like a new band. Everything about III was downsized almost on purpose and yet it is a brilliant album . In many ways it is the best TT album so far because it is daring .
The album still sold 400 thousand copies in the uk which is pretty damn good . It just doesn't look that good compared to Progress sales . As for the Singles charts well the charts are a complete joke these days ( pardon the pun) and i don't pay much attention to them. A album is now used to promote the tour as tour is where the money is. These days was a fantastic single and it was TT needed . Hey Boy is good but not as good as These Days . As for the argument of them still being TT well no they are not until Jason or Robbie or both return. They do look a little desperate as a trio but whilst the tours sell out why should they quit? TT is a very well polished machine and well managed . The team know exactly what they are doing and fair play to them. They are still making new music to tour with so the fans are not being taken for a ride . |

The success they achieved since they reformed was never going to last at that high level, not just for Take That but for all acts. The sales for Three are disappointing, but only if compared to sales of their previous albums. It will be harder and harder for them to achieve success in album and single sales but if an album that sells in or around 500,000 is bad they don't have much to worry about. Their tours, have always been huge and i firmly believe they will always be great concert sellers as they put on wonderful show, and have excellent live vocal delivery. I also believe they have another hit or two left in them, they just need to revisit the sound the fans and music buyers love.

I think III is, musically, the best album they've done. The sales were bound to be down compared with Progress because - no Robbie, no Jason, less fanfare on release, These Days not being as good a lead single (thought it's still a great song IMO) etc. and just general attitudes towards the band changing.
Though there isn't a bad song on the album. Particular gems are Let In The Sun, Freeze, Flaws, Give You My Love, I Like It, Higher Than Higher. |

I have not listened to the album, but their latest songs as a trio have been poor. What has happened to them?
