I know that this concerns fixed rather than mobile phones, but I couldn't find a specific forum for that?

I have one of these systems composed of two units that you plug into mains sockets. A standard telephone line is connected to one and a telephone is connected to the other in a room where there is no phone jack socket, to provide a service to that room.

However by plugging a standard UK wired phone into the system this renders the phone unusable elsewhere in the house in a wall phone jacket, there is no dial tone?

Has anyone else experienced this, any ideas what's going on?

Thanks,

Rob

I think I have the same units (mine are one for all branded).

I haven't experienced this issue. Where are you plugging the phone in? With mine you can obviously plug one into the receiver or you can also plug one in at the transmitter end (so you can use one phone socket for both). Is it only when you pick the phone up?

The phone is normally plugged into the extension unit where it works fine. Recently I unplugged the phone to use in a normal wired socket which is when I found that there was no dial tone. On plugging the phone back into the extension it worked fine.

Other phones that haven't been used on the extender work fine in the wired socket?

How are you connecting the phone to the extension unit? The boxes both have RJ11 connectors, but (at least the one for all version) should have an adapter to change it to a "BT" connector - like http://www.broadbandstuff.co.uk/images/RJ11toBT.gif.

Have you ever changed the cable that connects the phone to the extension unit?

Thanks moox,

Tried a different cable to connect to fixed socket and all ok! Must have been fault on other cables or perhaps RJ11 connections different.
