Does anybody here like Huey Lewis and The News?

Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

Love Huey Lewis & The News, 'Fore!' was one of the first albums I ever bought but i felt they really declined after that 'Small World' wasn't that good and yeh i went back to 'Sports' and its brilliant.

Not sure I'd call early Huey Lewis New Wave mind you , 'Do You Believe In Love?' sounds like ELO.

The whole of the OP is dialogue from the script of the movie.

"These monologues (which could almost have been memorized from a newspaper or magazine review section) reflect Bateman’s extreme superficiality and his lack of substance and emotional depth – he feels it socially necessary to maintain a knowledge of popular music but in reality has little understanding or interest in the subject matter, and so resorts to hoarding meaningless cliches in an attempt to seem knowledgeable and to ‘fit in’ with his social peers – who are more than likely either not paying attention to what he’s saying or are putting on the same facade that he is, resulting in both parties talking pretentious and preordained drivel to one another"

..they could almost be talking about the DS forums.
