Question to do with extremely sick Cavalier

Hi all,

My partner's 12yr old Cavalier has a suspected tumour & is due an ultrasound next week to confirm. He hasn't been himself for the last few months as he has had the odd fit as in the last week refusing to eat, collapsing on his side after the smallest of walks and blood in his stool. The thing I can't understand is that how is he even going to the toilet if he hasn't eaten in days ?.

I know this is a really random question & know that it will probably be a miracle if he survives given his age, but we are all puzzled by this, we have tried various things of getting him to eat but nothing is working & are worried that him getting rid of waste is doing more harm than good.

Thank you for your kind words, it is a very sad time as my partner had lost her Brother, Granddad, and most recently her Mum in February, but all 3 in under 2yrs, so the prospect of losing the family dog is tragic as he is her Dad's companion for when she is at work, her Dad is housebound a lot of the time due to a slipped disc. It makes you wonder how much bad luck a family can have in such a small period of time.

Oh believe me, A LOT.

We can't answer your question as we know nothing about the poor Cavalier. But he must be eating something... Can't poop what he hasn't previously made.

What are you going to do with this little guy? It sounds like you're going to have to make a difficult decision soon. My eldest Cavalier is nearly 8 and he's already old with all the illnesses he's had. I've got another year with him, maybe!
