The VT's Need To Change ASAP!
I love Strictly and think it's one of the best shows on TV and this new series has been no exception HOWEVER one issue I have with the show is the VT's which are just trying too hard or are pointless and sometimes cringe worthy; I miss seeing training footage.... They need to go back to showing that!
Anybody else agree? |

Trouble is BBC get zero complaints on their desk in regards to the VTs. The people who run SCD are entrepreneurs who's aim is to bring in ratings, they don't have a clue what we want to see really.

Or they could do what c5 did for BBUK and do a survey on what we like and dislike about SCD online, so we can deliver our honest feedback.

Saying that I completely agree in regards to the VTs - though if you think tonight was bad just wait for Halloween. |

They are just cringeworthy . A lot of the celebs have a busy work schedule so every minute of training is vital, yet the producers want them to waste the best part of a day traveling and making those nonsensical VTs .

It's light Saturday night entertainment aimed at all ages therefore the content has to reflect this, the pre-dance VT's seem more aimed at the younger audience.
They're releasing updates on training throughout the week online and on the spin off show for the more enthusiastic viewer. I don't see the problem tbh. |

I hate it, this isn't cbeebies and kids aren't morons either, SCD ran for years with just training room footage, and I don't think its the cringey VTs that have people tuning in.

weirdly, they allowed the last two contestants genuine reality show VTs. Is there a hierarchy of b*llsh*t in place?
The original reality show premise has been lost. Now the celebrities are just props in the design. Strictly used to be about a kind of noble humiliation of the triers. Now it's just the humiliation of slaves. There is no Spartacus. |

I like them. I was thinking when watching them how much better they are now than I remember them from previous series.
I think it humanises some of the couples who I know little about. I like that we see them enjoying a break from the training room together trying an activity or talking about their family etc. The only joke one I recall is the 'I thought you were scared of lifts' which I smiled at. I like seeing their relationship in the training room but I don't want to see any more of the dance before the actual dance. It spoils the excitement if you know before hand that Jamelia is great the the Charleston etc. If I wanted some fake will/won't they pull it off I would tune into X Factor to find out which contestant has had the sore throat that week or forgot some words in some rehearsal, People can watch rehearsals 5 days a week on It Takes Two which has much lower viewer numbers than the main show. If they attract younger viewers, good for them. |

But it all so fake, Firespire . Those VTs are thought up by the production and the couples have to 'act' them out and learn a script prepared by production .

It takes the best part of a day shooting them. Precious time out of their training schedule . It is nice Anita & Gleb take part in a charity event in a park, Georgia seemed to enjoy trampling. Karen was saying how she and Jeremy spend long hours training, it's not as if he would have been top of the leaderboard if they hadn't taken some time off in a swimming pool. There are clearly filmed at locations near where they train or their own home/place of work before they start the training, some are even filmed in the gym they are practising in. There are not spending time learning the script of Shakespeare, they just prompted lines and film them. |

They are just a little 30 second interlude, the 2 hour show doesn't have to be a relentless convey belt.
Dancers like Gleb would be universally hated as a egotistically show off if all we got to see was him in dance rehearsals, he speaks little during the show. The out an abouts with Anita do wonders for them. I tune into see the actual dances and am often joyfully surprised, do I want to see the dress rehearsal of the dance right before the dance - no. |

I think it depends on the couple, how well they get on and the personalities. The one with Helen and Aljaz genuinely made me laugh.

Have you also noticed that if any training footage does crop up in the (terrible) VTs it's all light and fluffy and "ohh, I fell over" type stuff? Loved it years ago when we got the warts an' all clips - like Karen and Ramps' meltdown.

I believe if you remove the 'time out' VTs, it would disadvantage celebrities partnered with a dancer whose English is not their first language.
It's easier for British dancers like Anton to engage in light hearted banter ingratiating themselves with the audience more, some of the dancers who English is a second language often speak less and may come across as slightly aloof in the studio and training. When we see them outside the training room, they are shown to be fun people and getting along in a way which we might not see otherwise. |

Noo...the VT's and the time for w***ing around behind Claudia are essential for:
-putting the kettle on -dashing to the loo - putting the cat out( if we had one) - emptying the dishwasher -loading the washing machine
