Well yes, and I think this is the problem when stations focus so much on beating a rival show, because as long as their own ratings are good enough to survive, then there is no need to over do the changes. But of course TV isn't happy to be content with smaller figures if it can net in bigger ones.
The young popstars and young soap actors can be used alone to try and bring in the young kids, so that they don't need to treat some of its older audience members as kids by using childish vts which are just seconds long in viewing during the entire show.
Lots of people liked the drama of the training vts (seeing people not getting on) so this to me is more ratings grabbing than badly acted storylines (that are equally bad and unrelated to anything).
