were a little co-incidental after his perfect performance last week and cries of its unfair, he's too trained to be on the show. Cynical I know but I thought that as soon as he finished. It seemed like the kind of a manufactured move that the x factor would orchestrate to manipulate the public .I didn't think the beeb did that but we've all read about the judges on the voice being asked to spin more and being given lines so it wouldn't surprise me. They have always had stage school trained dancers on strictly but Jay is more trained than that and they generally don't win and its a bit embarrassing for the BBC now and they dont want to spoil this year's show if someone is getting 10s in week 3. Last night made it look like last week was fluke and he isn't that perfect. Someone that had that much technique last week and can do turns as perfectly as Jay would not make that many mistakes and lose his balance as much. I'm sorry, I don't buy it. One over balance maybe, two I don't believe. He doesn't have a day job and has plenty of time and the technique and experience not to make that many mistakes in week 4. Anyone else agree?

I believe all the hype and tabloid (Anthony and Peters remarks as well as The Sun) controversy affected him - also he has a knee injury - he left dance school at 13 and is now 25 so hardly a professional. Give the guy a break - he comes across as quite a shy guy - he made no excuses on Saturday - just accepted that he made a mistake and did not complain about the scores. He was miles better than some of the other celebrities who got the same scores. Peter is getting favorable treatment with getting a favorable slot at the end of the program me each week

Can't say I do. Do you also think that the genuine upset he displayed during Claudia's interview was manufactured too?

I was wondering how long it would be before we got the "Jay messed up deliberately" conspiracy thread.

...... It look longer than I thought

Jay does dance that goes really well: eleventh billion threads about how it's all a fix, yadda yadda blahdy blah.

Jay does dance that goes badly: apparently that's all a fix now too.

DS really is the gift that keeps on giving.

Maybe Kirsty is playing the same game. Such a tease she is.

I disagree with the OP too.

He's not a robot. So he might have got it perfectly in training, but anything can happen during the actual live performance.

Have you never revised, trained, practised or whatever for something and then have it go wrong at the one time it mattered? If you haven't then I find that hard to believe - racing drivers crash, footballers miss penalties, people fail driving tests, musicians hit the wrong note, dancers fall over ..........

He just got it wrong on the night.

How dare you be so irrationally sane and well-balanced?! This is DS - every single aspect of SCD is a conspiracy, don'tchaknow!

Yes he's that well trained a dancer he's able to make mistakes on purpose, he probably planned to take a good 5 seconds to get back in sync he's such a fully trained dancer, he probably choreographed the mistakes himself as he's so well trained. And that slip at the end. Soooooo fake!

They've clearly trained to do those mistakes all week.

Seriously people, ever watch the Olympics and see the favourite completely flop with 3 no jumps? That's pressure and as Jay isn't actually a professional dancer (much as people would have you believe) he has probably never had to deal with such an amount of pressure.

Knowing your last dance has been watched millions of times and people are expecting perfection. Knowing your dance partner expects you to nail probably one of the most difficult QS's we've ever seen. (Which is what all the hugging and kissing was about, Aliona knows it was extremely difficult and wanted him to know he was amazing even wth the mistakes)

But no! clearly it was all staged for the journey.

Or maybe, it's an actual journey!

Say what now?

That Jay, man.

He is a master strategist.

Or, like; not.

Can I ask in what way is Jay more trained than stage school, having done a 3 year course in Musical Theatre. He wasn't even studying dance full time.

What a bizarre theory.

To be honest, even without the mistakes it would not have been great. Jay's a very talented dancer, but there are things he needs to sort out in ballroom.

Isn't it just. Where is the roll eyes smiley when you need it?

I'm surprised it took this long for a thread like this to emerge...

Don't be daft of course he didn't deliberately mess up. What a stupid thing to say. He's intelligent enough to know that doing something like that could backfire disastrously.

I really dislike the OP.

Maybe s/he has not watched previous series of Strictly and seen good couples having a bad day at the office.

To say that Jay messed up deliberately (with Aliona as a partner?? come on!) is reducing Strictly to a status lower than "I'm a Celebrity, Get me out of here"

I know myself that watching RTV can make you suspicious about everything so I wouldn't just dismiss the idea in principle...but in this case I didn't get much of a fake 'vibe' at all.

To be honest, with the obvious exception of the jive, I haven't been that impressed with Jay so far. Clearly he's got considerable skills but for me he's not the finished article in terms of being one of the elite celebs to have done the show.

No. If the BBC manufactured that last night because they thought someone getting 10s in week 3 would ruin the show, why wouldn't they have just manufactured it so he didn't get the 10 in the first place? Why would they cast people with training at all? It doesn't make any sense. Its very easy to believe that Jay would make more than one mistake as once he had made the first he was clearly trying to get back on it but he got flustered and it had a knock on effect leading to further mistakes. It was a very fast, difficult routine and it looked like if you made one mistake it would be very hard to get it back. The way people talk on here about the various 'master-plans' orchestrated by Jay/Aliona/the BBC you would think he was an Oscar-winning actor instead of one of the lesser-known members of a boyband .

I don't think he messed up deliberately- he just didn't get it right when he needed to. Last week he had two terrible run throughs, then nailed the live show. Seems this week it was the other way around. I also think Aliona maybe got a teensy bit carried away with her choreography- even if he had nailed that dance- I'm not sure it would have been a dance that was particularly pleasing on the eye.... It all seemed a bit hectic for me- even the bits he did right.

Why do so many people seem to want to show to be manufactured and fixed? I'm not a fan of Jay and Aliona but to suggest they were rubbish on purpose is daft - they know how badly that could go!

What has happened to paragraphs on DS?

Most of the post do have paragraphs. There are only a couple of posters on this thread who clearly don't know when to start a new one.

He looked gutted, he was going to cry. He's not such a good actor His problem is he's inconsistent. He can learn and perform complex choreographies, just not every time. Not sure if this helps take off the pressure or crushes him more.

He was obviously very upset that he messed up, and when the following couple of dancers went up to see Claudia he didn't appear to be there, I thought he may have been somewhere quiet until he composed himself,
Poor lad, I really felt for him,

The guy made mistakes because he's human. End of discussion.
