There is a nasty tendency to start up new posts with hidden agenda for gossip-mongering and personal comments about the contestants dancing on Strictly - as if they did not have enough to do already with keeping up high standards of choreography and performance.

Contestants are not public property just because they are on your screens every Saturday night.

I don't like some of the threads either so I just stay out of them rather than tell other people what they can and can't post. As far as I know, as long as people aren't commenting on other forum members they can say what they like about the contestants (as long as it isn't libellous). TBH, if celebs don't want people judging their personality/appearance or whatever else viewers want to comment on, they shouldn't go on reality TV.

Sorry must have missed that you owned the digital spy forum, the unpopular threads will pushed down the page.

As for scrutiny that why you go on a show harsh but true.

I agree with Ellie and if the posts are not breaking the T&Cs, then posters should be able to discuss what ever they want.

I think that's right. Anyone in the public eye knows they have to expect this sort of thing, distasteful though it might sometimes be, and the fact that Strictly is a reality show ups the ante.

This forum is for anything Strictly related and that includes news, speculation and frankly idiotic guesswork about pretty much anything to do with the celebs, pros, presenters, show, costumes, music etc. The dancing is a big part of the show but it's not the only part by a long chalk.

I'm afraid if posters want to create threads about whether celebs/pros are sh@gging/total bitches/fame whores/fakey fake fakers/foetally trained professionals with a century of actual ballroom experience behind them, then it's all par for the course and part of the Strictly experience. It's often not pleasant but it's fair game in the reality world.

Precisely. Telling people what they can and can't post is not on. Use the alert button if you see posters breaking the t and c's and the mods will sort it out. Also, If the title of the thread is not to your taste then ignore the thread.

Wow the SCD Forum Is very mild compared to lots of others i.e B.B. and I am a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. I think you will find that the Mods will close a thread down if it is not appropriate.

Whilst I completely agree with the sentiment, the reality is that we have freedom of speech. Which means that people can say pretty much anything they like about anyone on DS, regardless of how unpleasant and unmerited.

I have been known to leap in and defend the celebs from time to time. But then again, those indulging in such appalling behaviour are really only showing themselves up for what they are.

I wish people would stop starting threads telling others what they can, or can't discuss.

Exactly. The BB thread this summer was chaotic and pure poison.
SCD forum is actually a pleasant place

It is really sad, almost pity the posters in question. They are so scared for their own favourites that they have to start threads about the other celebs.

It does ruin my enjoyment a bit this year, trying to bring the celebs down with a planned motive.

People who start these threads sadly have no moral compass imho.

And that is all I will say about it.

Oh the irony here is quite breathtaking. Have you not read the NonAppreciation thread? Every aspect of the celebrities - and the professionals - lives, looks, families, personal details, are torn apart and belittled daily. How does that equate to them having "enough to do already with keeping up high standards of choreography and performance"

Good point, though you didn't mean it that way, if you want to be nasty about the celebs then go into that thread instead of making threads of your own trying to win detractors.

When stuff is published in the newspapers - rags! - or magazines, it is only to be expected that those articles will end up being discussed on the forums, even though we all know what is said in print is seldom "the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth...."

The point of forums is to discuss things and exchange opinions; if sometimes things get a trifle heated, then that's how things are. And there's always the alert button!

If someone was to make up a deliberate lie about someone they didn't like on the show, then that would be a whole different board game.

I know a lot of the pro dancers advise their celebs to avoid reading any forums, because they are almost definitely going to find negative posts about themselves, which can be detrimental to their confidence.

Excuse me, can you explain what you mean?....I was quoting the OP. I haven't been "nasty" about any celebs. In fact I seem to spend most of my time trying to avoid such threads.

I get what people are saying about freedom of speech but the amount of dross being posted on here lately really is spoiling the forum IMO - I thought it was a good idea having a thread for media coverage of contestants to keep it all in the one place, but now it seems to have spread like wildfire again. I don't mind a bit but most of it seems to be nasty digs at the best dancers, presumably from people who fear them as a threat to their favourites - and when you change your mind 5 minutes after posting a new thread criticising someone it just fills the forum with crap.

It is a dancing competition after all, but it isn't it human nature to comment on how contestants conduct themselves on the show ?

There is a difference between saying contestant x is a bitch as opposed to saying in my opinion they are coming across as a bitch. Isn't there ?

Agree, there seems to be this weeken a prolific amount of anti this anti that threads started by one or two, why keep starting new threads? We have get rid of Len, get ride of ages, stop VTs stop two female presenters, enough already! Please please.

SCD is the top rated light entertainment show bar none, if it ant broke do not fix it, if one or two do not like this bit or they bit, go and make a coffee at that time.

You can see what tinkering with a format has done to kill X Factor!

Yeah, sure, it seems you can post what personal garbage you like (eg Tall Paul's "Helen isn't so nice, then") but if you put up a post about the dancing of one of the couples, you get "modded off" and told to add your tuppenceworth to one of the existing threads, to be found on pages 3 or 4 or 5.

Double standards.

While I agree with most here that one cannot dictate what people can or can't post unless they are blatantly breaking forum rules - I have to agree with the bit in black - I usually don't stray far from the show and the spoiler thread, the ITT thread and the IKEA Catalogue, but I have seen a huge amount of those kind of posts... assumed they had become the norm.

To paraphrase one wise soul in this thread - if the title of a thread offends your sensibilities simply step away from the clicking device, make a cuppa and lie in a darkened room. Or something.

True but there are a few started by this forum member that have absolutely NO interaction from anyone whatsoever... after a while people will honestly ignore them and the better threads will get more traction
