Dermot is dreadful. Much as I can't stand Claudia, if they are going to replace her it should be with Zoe not Dermot.

I can't stand Tessbot - totally vapid. I love Claudia, she's smart, funny and can think on her feet.

No he isn't any more. He left. Olly Murs replaced him this year. Do keep up Terry.

The previous presenter wasn't "forced off the show" - he decided to go.

There is absolutely no reason why there has to be a man fronting any show. Gender shouldn't come into it as we live in an age of equality. The only thing that should decide who should host is whether or not a person is capable, and Tess and Claudia have proved that they can keep the show running smoothly with everything running on time so that all of the judges get to comment unlike he first 11 series. That's what they are there for.

I personally think the Tess/Claudia combination works perfectly well for this show but if we had to have a male presenter, I've always thought Bradley Walsh would be a good choice.

I Iike Claudia Paul, but if you count Zoe on It Takes Two its actually three gushy girls running things, and I agree we do need a man presenting on Strictly Come Dancing, things have just not been the same since Sir Bruce was forced off the show.
No they haven't been the same, the show now runs much more smoothly thankfully.

Stick with what we have, Claude, Tess and Zoe are doing a sterling job.

Bruce wasn't forced off the show and he allegedly admitted he didn't like presenting SCD, maybe because it wasn't all about him.

I have yet to see a convincing reason as to why there needs to be a male presenter for Strictly. As long as the two presenters have different yet complementary styles, as Tess and Claudia do, then they're on to a winner.
I'll give you one. Its all about control.

Tess and Claudia are always best behaved. They keep everyone in line. Not just the contestants. dance partners and judges too

They reign them in. Tess is always doing this. Thats why people want male/female presenters. They keep order too much..

Sounds like your issue is with the judges more than the presenters in that case.

I suspect it was more to do with his age and it being hard work (whatever people think). He didn't do the results but it was still probably quite a long day for someone of his age.

I don't follow the logic of that. It appears to be saying that Tess and Claudia do a good job and keeping control of the programme - important on a live show. Then for some obscure reason says it proves a man is needed.

We ended up by chance with Tess, Claudia and Tess in their various jobs but they do them well. Zoe seems to like her role on ITT and is effectively 'First Reserve' for the main programme if anyone is unavailable.

None of men's names suggested on here are universally popular and many are very unpopular.

I believe that ageism did play a big part in Sir Bruce being forced off the show.

He wasn't forced off the show. The BBC said that the show was his for as long as he wanted it, regardless of what many viewers wanted.

First he decided that doing the results part as well as the main show had got too much for him. Then he decided he'd had enough of trying to get up the stairs to his allocated place during the dances and then down again to interview the dancers. It was tiring him.

He has so much self belief that he wouldn't allow anyone to force him to do anything. He just realised that he wasn't coping with it any more. All of us oldies, at some time or other, realise that although the brain is willing to do just about anything, there are some things the body can no longer do. Most of us realise that and give up what we're having difficulty coping with and concentrate on the things we can still do and enjoy.

Nothing to do with him fluffing his lines, struggling with the auto cue, the awful jokes, missing shows every few weeks to have a rest, audience and contestants forced to laugh at his "jokes", etc ??

By the way are you and Tall Paul the same person- you constantly bump his threads.

Sorry, can you clarify what your reasoning is here? You seem to be saying that an efficiently run show that keeps to time, with all the judges having an opportunity to give their opinion isn't a good thing, and people want the gaffes, cockups and general incompetence that only a male presenter could bring?

I am beginning to wonder about this too. Similar tenacity, where either the past presenter or presenter changes are concerned.

We are where we are.

Tess & Claudia make a lovely contrast. Zoe is a great stand-in for Claudia, but it makes for 2 leggy blonds which visually is not so interesting.

I suspect that he (and his wife) realised that would age would reallty catch up with him sometime and he would not want the indignity of having to be taken off the series part way through because he was not up to it.

Ageism? He is 87 for goodness sake. If he had been 57 you may have had a point but he is 20 years beyond national retirement age and he chose to retire.

I often felt that having a presenter of such seniority fronting a live flagship programme was very brave of the BBC. Can you imagine the damper it would have put on the show had he popped off during the autumn months? A catastrophic heart attack during the live show would have been devastatingly sad and even had he passed quietly in his sleep midweek it would still have cast a shadow of sorrow over a show that is supposed to be light and fluffy.

Exactly, ageism, there is no threshold above which that this discrimination does not apply, the same goes for the viscous internet campaigns that played their part in Sir Bruce being forced off the show.

Sir Bruce has not retired, he is still working.

Once again - he was not forced off the show.

HE decided he'd had enough. He was finding it too much to do Stricty every week and do the other things he wanted to do.The BBC have said many, many times, that would not ask him to give it up and the presenting role was his for as long as he wanted - the decision to step down was entirely his and only his.

If you are the genuine fan you say you are then please respect his decision.

I suspect his wife played a major part in the decision, she would know when it was the time to cut back a bit.
