Didn't catch the whole question but tuned in as a contestant replied 'the Great Plague' and Bradly replied 'No - the Black Death'.

I don't know what the question was, but Great Plague and Black Death are the same thing. The only question I can think of that Bradley's answer would be correct is 'What is another name for the Great Plague?' (in which case the contestant would not reply 'Great Plague') !
The Great Plague and the Black Death aren't the same thing.

They both refer to plague but the Great Plague specifically refers to the plague in England in 1665-1666.

The Black Death more generally means the pandemic of the fourteenth century around 1350 that they reckon killed about half the population of Europe.

Having said that I can't remember what the question was. If it was about the 1665 plague in England, then "The Great Plague" should have been accepted.

Now, I know the Chasers get a bit of a hard time on here when they lose (especially Shaun) but let's be fair here - at least they haven't ever had a performance as bad as Dean, a Chaser on the Croatian version who has officially lost to a target of only 5 steps, setting the record as the worst performance by a Chaser anywhere in the world.

Here's a pic to show exactly what I mean here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxQ...ew?usp=sharing

The reaction all round if this was a UK game result would be phenomenal!

Video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LHJo6oPUyI (skip to 39:45)
That was quite an interesting watch, although I'd no idea what any of them were saying. The Chaser got to three in about half a minute. But after that he got pushed back a few times and never got further than that, they would actually have won with only four steps.

Now I don't speak any Serbo-Croat so I've no idea what the questions were like, but I think it's pretty clear they must be a good bit harder on average than the UK version. Looking at some of the other episodes on YouTube and skipping to the end, the Final Chase totals weren't that high, most of them were around the ten to fifteen steps mark, and there was another one of only six.

It might be something they could think about doing here, weeding out the dolly questions like "What's a quarter of eighty" and so forth, although it would mean the average totals would be lower, and some teams might end up looking a bit embarrassed. Maybe that's why they put a fair number of easy questions in.

Shockingly bad performance by Wallace yesterday. The black dot in the middle of the eye - the iris? He wasn't interested from the start.

Shaun's toast today. (Was to be expected seeing as he's been shown winning 4 times in a row.)
That's also to be expected of all the chasers, they win around 4/5 games consecutively and then have a loss. All the chasers come up against weak teams most of the time but occasionally get a really strong team. Even though Shaun loses slightly more, as long as he wins most games, I wouldn't say it's game over for him just yet.

Russell is a good player and a very cheery chap.

Can't see Paul losing today, already been 2 team wins this week so far.

The poor girl in Seat 4's not even up yet and Bradley's already talking about her maybe taking the minus...

So, no pressure then.

Hope she gets through, all the pressure was on her with the comments from Paul and Brad so she felt she had no option but to take middle amount.

Not a great score, Paul should win.

How close was that, never seen Paul look so relieved at a win

I feel when Paul said "the masons" that should have been taken as his answer. and counted as a wrong answer.

Those long pauses were obscene, he nearly threw it away at the start there! No wonder he was so relieved!!

He took too long on the Nickel question. ("The only element that ends in 'L".) If you can't think of it quickly, just pass. He was probably thinking,"I know this", and if he thinks about it long enough he'll eventually get it, but you can't afford to spend five seconds thinking and then pass it. That's one less question Bradley's going to have time to ask. It's even worse if they then get it (which they did). Now you've been pushed back and lost time as well.

The team made a couple of mistakes in the Final Chase and arguably should have won.

Yes. If it had been one of the contestants Brad would've taken "The Masons" straight away. Paul got very lucky today.

The long pauses are deliberate to run the clock down and make it more exciting. Really would have thought people would have realised that by now

So he deliberately took more time on the early questions to make it more exciting, so exciting in fact that he only won with a second to spare?

Well that was well timed,then.

I don't think they run the clock down deliberately at all.

I do think however that sometimes they're guilty of taking more time on a question than they should if it's a small target they're chasing, and they know they've got time to spare, and they don't want to make a silly mistake,so they give themselves more time on the question. But this sometimes leads to trouble later on if the team get a couple of pushbacks and then they're under time pressure that they probably shouldn't have been.

If they're supposed to get a few wrong and stall to make it more exciting, why do we sometimes see the Chasers rattle off eight or nine questions in a row and win with half a minute or more to spare?

I think the lady buzzing in too fast cost them. She gave the wrong answer with girls aloud and you saw the young girl sigh as she knew the answer was sugababes. The girl handled her entertainment questions well which the woman should have noticed and let her take care of those questions first. But there is pressure.

- Because It would be (even more) boring if they won 9/10 games with time to spare as they are very capable of doing.

Yes but the young girl also made a mistake on the "A liger is a cross between a tiger and a what?" question. She buzzed in quickly and said tiger, which was an obvious mistake, that had been mentioned in the question. The other two probably knew it was lion but she was too quick. At that point I don't think she'd answered a question in the final chase and probably felt she wasn't contributing much and wanted to try and get one right. As you say there is pressure.

Apart from that as a massive Girls Aloud fan I knew right away that the lady's answer was wrong.

Actually somebody got a Little Mix question in their Cashbuilder (which I knew as well),so that was two girlband questions on that show.

Nothing more annoying when a contestant has a great cash builder then takes the lower offer at the table. Why waste the oxygen for 60 seconds? Stressed about getting correct the Churchill's year of birth, how many prime numbers there are under 50 and the name of the other one from Queen and you get to the table and you take minus £1000.

That would be a good question in the cashbuilder.

"What is the name of the other one from Queen?"

"Roger Taylor?"

"No, it's John Deacon."
