Great start then it went pear-shaped, a few easy ones they got wrong.

Shame about that, I thought they were heading for the 19-20 region before the "Wrong person answer"... Ah well.

I wish people on this show would stop saying these two things....
Saying it's an insult when the chaser offers a low bottom offer. Secondly, and more importantly, please stop saying "You're a much better player than that". This includes Bradley as well as the contestants. If you score £1000 in your cash-builder, you're not going to be a much better player than that. |

Secondly, and more importantly, please stop saying "You're a much better player than that". I would have agreed with you at one time ... but not after being on the show. The contestants on each team are together for a good few hours before the recording and you get to know how clever some of them are. A chap on our show only got 2 questions on his cash-builder - but from being with him beforehand and going through a practice round - we knew he WAS better than his two thousand - he was just bloody unlucky with his questions (he was an older chap and I think his questions were more of a popular culture nature).

Well thanks for the insight. Okay fair enough I take back what I said to some extent, I should have said that generally speaking it seems to be the case. Although it does seem to be the case that those with low cashbuilders often get knocked out or don't go on to impress in the final chase. |

I cant stand the way they waste time bringing the chaser out 5 times an episode, complete with dramatic music and lighting. Once the chaser has been revealed at the start of the episode whats the point of making him walk off and then back on again for the next contestant and so on.
Of course, the real reason is so the producers can see what the contestant has just earned and then instruct the chaser what cash amounts to offer, although im sure some viewers still like to kid themselves that its the chasers decision. |

In the first few series, didn't they have one more question in the individual rounds, and have little or no preamble chat?

They wouldn't need the chaser to walk off and back on again to tell them what cash amount to offer. They could just have a screen in front of the chaser to instruct them.

No, I think communicating to then via screens or earpeices would just leave them open to claims of cheating (not that the chasers need it).

I think the other reason the Chaser walks back each time is a) to add a bit of drama b) to give the Chaser a five minute break from filming and c) to avoid the Chaser having to sit there like a spare part while the contestant does their cashbuilder (as happens in the Chase USA). It works better this way. Although I noticed tonight that Anne was sat there for the whole of the fourth part of the show. I've never seen that before - I guess it's just a Celebrity Chase thing? |

What a pillock John Sargent was on this, even if he hadn't heard of The Jam, you would still hazard a guess that 'Underground' or 'Overground' would be the answer, not 'Wombling free'

Wouldn't they have screens anyway, to display the question? They don't seem to look in the same direction as contestants and Bradley when the questions are read.
