Crikey - a pass from Anne - maybe she was trying not to embarrass the chap!

In days gone by people watched quizzes and admired the knowledge of the contestants.

Sadly nowadays it seems to me that many people are deluded enough to put themselves forward and then wear their ignorance as some sort of badge of honour.

I appreciate it is just a bit of fun but it irritates me that keen quizzers with a fair chance of winning are blocked by numpties.

Well and truly humiliated.

Boy, I bet he was dreading this one being shown.

I'm so fed up with the same old utterances from the team after the cash builder. Please just once, can one of them say, "I'd like to say, we need you back here but we really don't"?

A new low in Chase history and I'm not talking about the prize money.

Thankfully FK puts her out of her misery

Lowest Chase pot ever here, any Chase boffins?
Happened once before in series 7 episode 46. Mark was the Chaser. The target was 8 and he reached it with 1.22 left on the clock.

I'm sure many of them think that. But they would be unwise to say so.

It would make them appear arrogant and dismissive of their teammates and would make them very unpopular.

They would get castigated on here, and probably on Twitter as well, for people that follow Twitter and take an interest in what people are saying on it.

I have no interest in Twitter whatsoever, or what anyone says on it.

Just embarassing today - presumably the guy was hoping player 4 would turn out to be a quiz genius and bring back some decent money, in the end it was laughable really. At least Anne did her best to take the game seriously.

We really could do with some more gutsy players on this show though, we seem to be getting some complete wimps lately. Granted some are probably chosen because they will be 'entertaining', and today's show was quite entertaining - for all the wrong reasons - but I think people would lose interest if there are too many games like today's with a small prize and seemingly no chance of a team win.

As is usual with quiz shows it seems it doesn't matter how intelligent you are, it's whether you'll look good on tv. You can have an IQ off the scale, but if the producers think you come across as boring and won't appeal to the audience then you won't get on.

And yet so many of their choices, who's selection because of their wacky personality and not their ability is plainly obvious, are just really irritating.

Yet you carry on watching. The producers aren't worried about whether you find contestants irritating or not just whether you watch.

It's not a show about intelligence, it's about general knowledge. They are not the same thing.
