I'm pretty sure I've had the Beaver state question on The Chase app before.

Two most annoying things about The Chase:

1. When they ask the other contestants which offer a contestant should take, 9 times out of 10 they just say "take the middle offer, we need you in the final".

2. Bradley Walsh, saying the team is "his team", it's not, if it was he'd give them the answers or something, and even more annoying "it's been a pleasure playing alongside you", you've not been doing that you've been asking the questions, you're neutral.

Bloke in seat 3 on the Australian Chase tonight on Challenge got $24,000 in his cashbuilder. They get $2,000 for each right answer on the Australian version, so that's equivalent to £12,000 in the UK version. I've never seen anybody get that many in the UK version, I can't even remember seeing anybody get ten right. The host seems to read the questions out faster than Bradley Walsh.

His low offer was $16,000 and his high offer was $36,000. In UK Chase money that's £8,000 and £18,000. To me the high offer there isn't worth considering. It's not much more than you got in the cashbuilder and there's a far higher chance of getting knocked out. The low offer is the clear percentage play.

In our version in the unlikely event anybody got £12,000 in their cashbuilder, I would reckon the low offer would be about £3,000 and the high offer could be anything, but I would expect an awful lot more than £18,000, it's not even double your cashbuilder.

In the event the bloke took the high offer and nearly got knocked out.

One of the questions tonight on the Australian show in the Final Chase was "What is the first name of astronaut Buzz Aldrin?"

The bloke said "Edwin" and this was given as correct. But I think this is wrong.

Buzz Aldrin was born Edwin Aldrin and Buzz was a nickname from childhood. But he changed his name legally to Buzz Aldrin in 1988.

So Buzz Aldrin's first name is, in fact, Buzz.

The question should have been phrased, "What was Buzz Aldrin's original first name?"

Maybe the show was filmed prior to 1988

It's very difficult to tell with Aussie fashions/haircuts

It irritates me too. Another irritation is when he says "Good answer!". Of course it's a good answer if it's the correct one!

Does anyone else switch off/over before Shaun has chance to say: "it's just another day at the office"?

No I quite enjoy their catchphrases. Also like the way Sean alway repeats his big offer. I'm easily pleased!

In Series 2 episode 1, a guy got £14,000 but was knocked out by Shaun in the head to head.

That is a huge bug bear of mine when he does the latter.

Good god, those were the days!! Easier questions, higher cashbuilders, higher final chase scores, Chasers murdering everything under 20 steps... Those were good times.

Nah. I enjoy what all the Chasers have to say after the Final Chase. And Shaun's Chaser persona is based on being a boring (and these days dry-humoured) lawyer so... The use of a dull catchphrase works in that regard.

Tbh, I quite enjoy the panto personalities that the original three Chasers bring to the show, it's a nice bit of cheese! (Like Mark's "FIRTY FOUSAND POUNDS SAYS YOU CAN'T BEAT ME." boisterous act, and Anne's generally theatrical presence.) All five Chasers are generally more entertaining than the Eggheads (Although CJ is a real theatrical one.)

Fourteen questions right in a minute? That's pretty good going. He must have got nearly every question right.

No, why would I? It would be like switching off towards the end of Scooby-Doo before the villain has chance to make his comment about "them pesky kids". Not that Shaun is a villain - he's very nice.

I remember in the early days that, yes, the cash builder and final chase questions were much easier allowing for huge scores but the individual chase questions were much much tougher meaning there were fewer players making it through to the final.

10+ scores used to be the norm on the cashbuilders, now 9 seems to be as good as it gets.

Harry seems to be a very knowledgeable guy, I've got a feeling we could see a team win today.
