No it included the stake.
No, it said 'as well as your stake' not 'including your stake'.

It's the way you read the exact question paying due regard to the grammar

',as well as getting you money back, what would you win?

I hate to say this but I think that contestant deserved to be wrong especially for saying Frankenstein is a Scientist!

Nobody notice they got a question wrong yesterday ?
Put a £10 bet on at 5/2 odds how much do you win inc stake ?
Answers £25,£50,£75.
Em the answer is £35 lol

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9VyGeLnuWA
The question was phrased, "As well as getting your stake back, how much would you win?"

So the answer of £25 is correct. Your total return is £35 which is composed of £25 in winnings and £10 stake returned, as specified in the question.

If the question had been phrased "How much would you get back?", then the answer would be £35, but that was not how the question was phrased.

Frankenstein was the scientist. She said it was the monster.

I'm not confused

"Another particularly furious viewer posted: "That betting question on the Chase then was definitely £35 as the answer, I'm fuming."

Somebody actually said that?

Express readers adopt "fuming" as their default attitude.

I think the problem is people are counting their stake as part of the winnings, when technically they're not. If I bet a hundred pounds on an evens chance, and it wins, I've won a hundred pounds, plus my stake back. I'm picking up two hundred, but I've not won two hundred, because a hundred of the two hundred was mine anyway.

Try telling somebody that's bet £500 on a 1/5 chance which wins that they've won £600. They haven't, they've won a hundred. Five hundred of the six hundred returned was their own money..

I agree with some people that the question was not especially well worded, but the correct answer is not in doubt.

Yep agree the question could have been worded better, but it is right.

And whilst basically agreeing with you, as a gambler myself, if I'd put £100 on an even money shot and won, I would say I'd won £200. For me tht £100 has gone once I've put the bet on. That's just how gamblers think.

Agreed, it was a foregone conclusion that Mark was going to win today... They haven't shown 2 wins back to back since Series 7 I think, back in 2013. They should really do that again! Surprise us all.

That said, Mark played brilliantly in the final chase today! If only that other contestant had put Frankenstein as a scientist however, they'd have probably won with her extra step and knowledge.
