Or what about:

"Who was the other one in The Magnificent Seven?"

Player (confidently): "Horst Buchholz."

Bradley: "No,it's Brad Dexter."

Horst Buchholz was The Other One in the film until 1997,when the title passed to Brad Dexter. It was felt that because Horst Buchholz was so well known for being The Other One in the film,he couldn't in fact be The Other One any more. So Brad Dexter became the new Other One.

Funnily enough I was at a Cinema Memories event the other day and they showed the original 1960 trailer for The Magnificent Seven featuring Yul Brynner as The Leader, Eli Wallach as The Evil One, Steve McQueen as The Dangerous One and Horst Buchholz as The Violent One

If I was on The Chase and Bradley asked 'Who was The Other One?' I would answer

Michael Gambon

If anyone remembers a short lived sitcom from the late 70's they'll know what I'm thinking. It was called The Other One starring Richard Briers and Michael Gambon as travelling salesmen. Richard Briers was the loud, brash, Walter Mitty type character whereas Michael Gambon was the complete opposite, The Other One who believed all of Briers' bullsh!t. I'd love to see an old episode to see if it stands the test of time.

Two good pub quiz questions about The Magnificent Seven are:

Name the sequels: Return of the Seven (there was no 'magnificent'), Guns of the Magnificent Seven, and The Magnificent Seven Ride (not 'ride again',although as a lenient quizmaster I would probably accept it).

Another one I once got asked is:

"How many of the actors who played the seven from the original film were in the first sequel?"

Surprisingly,the answer is only one.

There were three of the seven left alive at the end of the first film, but only Yul Brynner returned. Steve McQueen's character returned but was played by a different actor.

It flopped in the 70s, so hardly.

It maybe flopped but I thought it was an intelligent and thoughtful bittersweet comedy as opposed to ones like Are You Being Served and 'Allo, 'Allo.

Anyway on to today and it's Mark up against a very good player in Pete.

Not bad for a single player but he'll be kicking himself with 3 or 4 he got wrong.

Pete got Quarter of 84? There's nearly always an easy arithmetic question in both sets of questions.

I would say that was about a thousand to one against. At least.

Look at player 4's situation. Suppose (and this is fantastically unlikely anyway) the first three all went high and got back, There would probably be well over a hundred thousand in the prize fund. Say it's £120K.

Is player 4 going to go high as well and take the chance of getting knocked out and miss out on a chance of winning that money? I doubt it very much. They're going to go low or middle, depending on how big the minus is,and it would be fairly hefty in that situation, probably twenty thousand minimum, maybe even thirty.

But I just couldn't see anybody risking going high. There's no need, there's enough in the prize fund already.

You might possibly see them all go high - but only if they all got successively knocked out. Once one goes high and gets back ,the rest usually go into safety first mode.

Old episodes of The Chase on Challenge (series 2 or 3) and I notice a couple of differences between then and now.

These days we don't get Bradley speeding up to "they're-playing-the-film-at-the-wrong-speed" levels when the Chaser is chasing a big target.

And there are far less "we'll find out after the break"'s these days as well.

Is there any set pattern to what chaser is on which show or is it completely random? Not seen much of the dark destroyer lately and it never seems to be the vixen.

There's no set pattern, but it's not random either.

It's basically whatever order they choose to show them in.

Apparently there were a lot of shows still to air featuring the four Chasers before the Vixen joined, which might explain why she's not been on much. I think they might have been better to have shown all of those first before they introduced her,so that her appearances wouldn't seem so sporadic.

But it isn't up to me.

That would also explain why during the intros it's sometimes "Will it be our new chaser..." whereas sometimes it's just "will it be the vixen..."

Really wish they would just air them in the order they were filmed, although I'd imagine each chaser goes individually and films a bank of episodes when he/she is available.

If I was a contestant I'd be absolutely praying to be against the dark destroyer or the Sinha-man to be honest

Why would you want it to be Shaun or Paul?

Well Shaun seems to be the easiest to beat.
Sometimes even contestants tell Bradley that they'd like to take on Shaun because apparently even in the app that there is contestants say that they always beat Shaun.

Imagine that, even with the app which they've created they've programmed it so that Shaun is crap.

When contestants say that they'd like to be up against Mark or Anne I'm thinking "Are you mental or something?"

Why does watching it on demand versus while it's been broadcasted feel different?
