That would never work. The whole point is that they're a team and have to try to work together to win the money. Sometimes this means players should take the low offer. If they all kept what they'd put in themselves they're no longer really a team.
For a start, if it was divided as you suggest, they would have to get rid of minus offers, otherwise if they won, anybody taking a minus wouldn't win anything - in fact they would theoretically owe the other players money.
But even if they didn't have minuses, you'd still get situations like this:
Player 1 gets knocked out.
Player 2 goes for a high offer of £30K and gets it. So now he's happy, he knows he's going to win £30K if they win. He now wants the other two back and doesn't care if they take the low offer, in fact he would prefer if they did, because there's more chance they'll get back, therefore a higher chance of them all winning - and him winning his £30K. He won't be bothered if they only bring back peanuts because it doesn't affect his share.
Player 3 gets knocked out.
Player 4 gets £3,000 in the cashbuilder. The high offer is £40,000, the low offer £500. What should player 4 do? Going for the low offer is pointless - they're only going to win £500 if the team wins, while the other bloke will trouser a massive £30K. They really have to go middle or high, which means more chance of getting knocked out.
The net result of all this is that hardly anybody would go for the low offer, it would effectively become redundant. Thus a key part of the show would be lost. More players would go for the high offer (because they'll get all of it if they win). Thus more players would get knocked out, there would often be only one or two players in the Final Chase, and the teams would win much less often. They only win about one in four times as it is.
