Really, the Q should have been worded more like: "When looking at an electricty bill, what does MWh stand for ?"”

I think the wording was perfectly legitimate, particularly as most people here suspect that either answer would have been accepted.

Just seen in todays episode:

Q: What is traditionally used to write on a school whiteboard?
Chaser: Chalk

This was given as a correct answer I could have sworn the question said "whiteboard". A blackboard would be chalk but it would have a hard time showing up on a white/marker board.

So you think it's a good thing to for Brad have to say either:
a) Yes, we'll allow milliWatt - obviously wastes time
b) have to admit at the end of the chase it was actually a correct answer - makes them look bit amateurish

Surely better to correctly word the question to get the answer they're looking for ?

No. What I think he would say is, 'correct'. Because being professional question setters they would have anticipated both answers.

What he would have said, and has said for answers that are close enough to be right but not quite what he has on his screen**, is "I accept". Short and to the point.

**(...or he might have a note on the screen - accept such-and-such as a correct answer.

Which wouldn't work. The only mention of a unit on my bill is "kWh". If it ever got up to M I would be really worried!

I expect tonight's episode is a repeat but I reckon Mark didn't beat the team. I reckon he equalled them. Is that possible?

If he equalled them then he beat them.

Whatever happened to 'a tie'?

I had a rather strong cup of tea earlier, Stan.

A tie would be when the chaser answered the final question on the timeout when it was too close for replays to determine which way it went. And that probably means a few milliseconds, if that.

If that ever happened (which it probably never has), I'm guessing they would award the team the money.

Added to that - is it when the chaser starts to answer the question, or when he/she finishes? It's probably in the rules somewhere.

Surely it has to be when the answer is complete, otherwise you don't actually know what is going to be said.

It's not close, it's a billion times different
there are close answers and alternative ones but the original Q was poorly worded ..

I suspect that they would pause it, get the adjudicator to rule that it was acceptable, which they almost certainly would, and then restart it with him saying 'I'll accept'. They would then edit it as if it all never happened.

When I was on, I think the final chase was done in three segments. One pause for an adjudication and one where Brad tripped over his words. All looked like one take in the final show

Well, I don't normally look that closely, but I thought that had to be wrong, so I went and checked on line. (I don't have paper bills for anything these days.)

There was only one place, late on in the bill where the units were mentioned - the main part is just the numbers from the meter.

The mathematics are not important in this case, it's the wording that is. Perfectly valid question.

No clapping as she got the final question right.

I agree. The circumstances here didn't really merit her to be praised for it either.
