But there's no reasons why viewers who wish to do so shouldn't email viewerservices@itv.com with their suggestions.
So you're suggesting we try to get Jenny removed?

Anne has confirmed on Twitter that the Chasers get paid per show so since Jenny came on board all other chasers have been paid less. Paul Sinha wrote that his" accountant would say no" to Terry becoming a chaser.

Ha!

Anne reckons Terry could be playing at international level in a few years time. Can't disagree.

Managed to beat Anne in the World Quizzing Championship a few years back - admittedly finished in the mid-forties, so nowhere near Kevin or Pat's level, but didn't disgrace myself anyway!

That is NOT what I was suggesting, you trouble maker.
I was suggesting that, if viewers are keen for Terry to become a chaser, maybe they should let ITV know. I'm guessing ITV will already be on the case.

I don't see that we have to stick to five chasers . The more the merrier - so long as they are quality chasers.

The Chase last night got 3.92m (27%) - one of its best ratings.

I don't mind having more chasers - more rotation is better but I'm not sure their first port of call will be a former contestant however good he is. I'm sure there are various factors they'll consider.

You all seem to be assuming Terry would actually want to be a chaser. He's probably happier playing poker!

As I am one of the few people on here that thinks Jenny is great, i would be very disappointed if she was replaced.

Only if you include +1 and catchup does that have any relevance. Viewers of the original show wouldn't know what the outcome was going to be, so it couldn't influence the ratings.

I've never really understood that about ratings myself. If someone turns over to watch only the last 10 minutes does that count as a view?
Similarly if a new drama series starts and a bunch of people try it but decide it's utter crap after 10 minutes and switch off, have they already been counted as a view and helped some executive gush about its high ratings?

He could still play poker too couldn't he- they don't keep the chasers locked up somewhere when they're not chasing as far as I know- or do they?

She won't be replaced, and I also think she's very good

According to my stats for the last 4 months, she's up with the best (~80% success)
and, for knocking out contestants in the head-to-heads, she's the best knocking out ~50% of them
makes life easier for her in the final chase
I think tho' she shouldn't get so excited when she gets a maths Q right tho' !

Terry was a good quizzer, nothing more. He would struggle without alot of hard work - as Anne said, in a couple of years time he could be up there.
Nowhere near as good as Jenny currently is tho'...

Incidentally, Annes loss yesterday puts her at the bottom of the class (sorry Anne!) which is a surprise.
Guess it's jus a bit of luck which batch of contestants you get given

Even still, The Chase probably got about 300,000 at best on +1, as it normally does. So without that it would be at around 3.6m which is still very strong.

The final 5 minutes last night averaged 4.9m (again, that includes +1 but the +1 number at that point will have been ~500k at best).

There is a panel of 5000 viewers with BARB boxes, so that is how ratings are calculated. They don't have a measure of every viewer in the UK and what we watch. Its just a select 5000 viewers to represent the population of the UK.

If many of them watch a similar programme, that overnight rating will be high.

It works in a similar way to your second question. If many of the BARB viewers watch a drama, but turn off throughout the episode, the rating will show the figure decrease throughout the episode. Those figures in a breakdown will then be used to find the average.

For example The Chase might start with 3m viewers at 5pm, but end on 4.9m at 6pm. That would give an average of 3.95m viewers.

I hope that answers your question and you understand my explanation.

I like the way Paul manages to be sarcastic, in a pleasant manner, about the contestant's wayward knowledge.

She also gets the weakest teams, so it's difficult to fairly compare, say, Mark and Jenny.

A combined cashbuilder score of 15, making them well below average, Paul should win easily.

I'm sure I'm on the the 1st to say this but BARB is extremely outdated. You would think with technology nowadays they could literally know the numbers down to very specific numbers.. To base the whole UK on 5000 watchers is stupid. Just because those 5000 are watching certain TV shows does not mean the other millions are watching the same.

Poor score, but it's difficult with two.
