Not a great team today. This should be easy for Shaun today unless he does more long pausing.

If she gets through that's 4 points. So they only need to get 15 right to get 19.

This programme has me tearing my hair out once again. There's no point in being clever knowledge-wise if you're going to be completely stupid tactics-wise. She should have been all over the minus £1,000 offer, she's spoiled a good team effort there, although in fairness none of the team pushed the minus £1,000 very hard either.

'My mum wouldn't speak to me if I took the minus offer.' Well, your mum must be as stupid as you are then. Unbelievable.

Would she have still got through if she took the minus?

The long pause after that elephas maximus question wasn't a good omen

Wow, I am the player Jenny and thought I'd log on to see what people were saying - quite impressed to have provoked that sort of bile and hatred from a stranger! Anyway, the fact is, I think people who take money from the rest of the team are horrible and selfish. Also, I doubt very much I would have got through even if I had taken the minus because I got about 4 in a row wrong and was way out of my depth, didn't have a clue on almost all of them.

Kindly leave my Mum out of your insults please

Not necessarily. Was a better option than going for the £7,000 though.

One step nearer home worth losing 8 grand (2 each)? Not in my book.

WelcomeJenny!

We often debate tactics of whch offer to accept so don't worry or be offended.

I think there are times when it's right for a player to take a negative offer but someone needs to bring extra 'value' and have the support of the others to justify it. Too often a weak player just wants a share of the winnings others have worked for and takes a low offer for selfish reasons. Sometimes they end up adding to the score or make the difference between a win and loss (perhaps negatively) but usually they attract scorn.

You didn't, you were honourable, took your chances and lost. Fair play.

Of course, we never know in life what would have happened had we taken the 'other path'.

Wow, I am glad to finally get the chance to discuss tactics with one of these apparently tactically naive people. There's no bile and hatred here just frustration at what I thought was a really poor decision.

Firstly, if you want your mum left out of the discussion, then YOU leave her out of your decision making process. If you bring her into it, then that's an obvious consequence.

Could you talk us through your decision-making here please? I think your reasoning is deeply flawed. You thought you were being unselfish by going for an amount without a minus in front of it but really it is much more selfish to spoil a good team effort by getting knocked out, ie the extra step towards the chaser to go from £3,000 each to £5,000 each wasn't worth the risk at all. I'm not accusing of being selfish due to maliciousness, but rather due to poor logic.

Your knowledge was clearly very good but sadly that's only half the battle and your tactics let you and your team down badly.

Thanks @elfcurry and @richie!

For anyone who's interested, I was sitting with the crew during the final cash builder and counting how many extra questions I would have contributed if I'd been there. We would have been on 24 if I'd got through so in retrospect, yes I wish I had taken the minus.

But if I'd taken the minus after a £7k cash builder I think I'd have been in for some serious forum criticism for a different reason, so you really can't win. Hey ho.

So, go for the highest offer then? The step down from the highest offer lost £40,000, (£10k each) which is obviously far more of a step. It still doesn't make the middle offer correct.

Bringing my Mum into my tactics was just a light hearted way to get my dear old Mum a mention on telly, so please don't take it so seriously

Ok, you think my tactics were flawed, I never claimed to be a master tactician. What can I say, I thought my knowledge was good enough to contribute some money as I'd found the other contestants questions quite easy. You just never know how the questions are going to fall.

I think that's part of the problem here to be honest. There are a lot of people who don't understand logic and understand the game - perhaps including yourself and your Mum - who think any low offer is bad and those people are very vocal on forums and social media. Those people are incorrect though.

You were there to win as much money as possible for yourself by playing as part of a team. Your Mum or other people's flawed opinions shouldn't have come into it and if they did then more fool you and you and your team have suffered because of it.

What I don't understand is why you thought it worth taking a step towards the Chaser to go from £3,000 each to £5,000 each but not worth taking a step to go from £5,000 to £15,000. Where's the logic there?

I didn't take a step towards the chaser? Anyway, I've nothing more to say on the subject, I've explained my reasons and I don't really care if you agree with them or not. You clearly think you have a master strategy for this show so why don't you apply?
