£50,000 per player (highest offer) = £200,000 in total.
I believe he said he would offer £50,000 UNTIL someone accepted it.

He offered each player £50,000 - so £200,000 offered in total. Right?

Brilliant pushback to win. Well deserved. Especially Helen. She deserved all the money.

That happened once before a couple of years ago on a lower target for £60,000 so this is much less damaging.

As it turned out, yes. But when you made that posting (at 17.35), I don't think he had offered it four times. Apologies if I'm wrong.

How close was that Final Chase?!
One answer needed with ONE SECOND on the clock and he got it wrong!

It's always exciting with one second left on the clock.

Don't know but he wasn't.
It was Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis jnr, Dean Martin, Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop, wasn't it?

Yes, these are the five that appear in probably the most famous photo of the Rat Pack, standing underneath the Sands casino sign with their names on it.

The Sands is sadly now long gone, it closed in the mid 1990s. I was lucky enough to be in Vegas and see it before it went. A lot of the old Vegas joints are also gone. Of the five casinos raided in the original Ocean's 11 film (starring the Rat Pack) - the Sands, Sahara, Riviera, Desert Inn and Flamingo, only the Flamingo still exists.

Apparently the Rat Pack never used that name for themselves. They called themselves The Summit or The Clan.

In theory, yes. But if anyone had taken it, the offer would have gone away, so a total of £200,000 to play for in the final chase would not have been possible.

We did. She answered all the questions.
If Helen had been on her own, Mark would have caught her. They won thanks to the step that Charlotte earned reaching the final chase.

Also if Helen hadn't had Charlotte to bounce off when Mark got a question wrong, she might not have got all four of the push-backs that won them the game.

But, well done, Helen. She thoroughly deserved the win.

BUT if Helen had been on her own then there would have been no need to buzz in, which saves precious seconds and more than makes up for the extra step that Charlotte earned.

Of course your points about the pushbacks still stands.

Anyway it's all ifs and buts, she won anyway.

Think that deserves a mention in the stupid answers on a quiz show thread

Edit - You've already done it, well done

I bet there will be more pedants on there as per usual who will disagree and say it isn't really a stupid answer.
