But why would the Aussies have an ostrich for their mascot? They come from Africa.
Kookaburras come from Australia.
So the real question is why wasn't it Kylie the Kookaburra then!

£-5,000 £6,000 or £45,000 ? Still wouldn't have been the highest win but she could make the difference

Hate it when people take any minus offer, but -£5k is just an insult!

The chaser will win today. How often do they show contestants winning 2 days running?

I notice young Sam didn't applaud when the last player got through. I can't say I blame him. He takes the risk to try and boost the prize fund, gets through, and then she sneaks in behind him for a share of the money on a minus.

All three of them said, "Take the middle offer". But she still went minus anyway.

Makes you wonder what the point of asking them was, she'd obviously already decided to take the minus.

She answered one question correctly in the final chase.
But she got a pushback too.

But it's irrelevant because they lost with ONE flaming second to go!

This is what I don't like about The Chase. On the average the chasers lose about one in three or four, so they obviously want to space out the wins and have them regularly, and not have too many in a row without a win. But it makes it far too predictable. If the team wins on any given day, they will hardly ever show a win the next day. I think they've only shown two consecutive wins about four times, and there's been about seven hundred shows.

if they showed them as they were filmed, there would be times when there were seven or eight in a row without a win, or even more. But at least it would make it a bit less predictable. If there hasn't been a win by Wednesday, there will usually be one on the Thursday or Friday because they hardly ever go a week without showing a win.

Ooh, you don't usually hear a studio audience at the end there do you?

Is this different?

Well, there is no studio audience for The Chase, except for the celeb editions. The laughter and applause and so on is added in later.

The dead giveaway for this is that you never see a shot of the audience, or anyone in it - because they aren't there.

It would be interesting to see an episode of The Chase without the audience sound effects. It would probably sound very weird.

If they had won, the difference would have been that extra point the team got for a full house. She did say her nerves were playing up & she was scared she would freeze in front of Anne. Others have pointed out she answered only one question correctly in the final, no mention of the 8? the other contestants got wrong. Surely its best to buzz in only when you know you are correct to give other people a chance of the correct answer. A team leader should be unofficailly appointed by the team prior to the final, to buzz in with a 'pass' after say 5 seconds if no one is buzzing in.

How was it a dead giveaway if they don't show the audiences for the celebrity versions?

Whether there was an audience for last night's show or not, it did seem very different to hear the 'audience's' disappointment at the team nearly winning but just missing out.

I have outlined a strategy earlier in this thread that involves the team appointing a "captain" (ie the best player) that takes charge and deals with guessing and passing. Few teams seem to use something like this, but I am sure it would improve their chances if they did.

One thing, though five seconds would be far too long to wait before passing. Just count out five seconds in your head - it's longer than you think. If they did that they'd be wasting far too much time just standing there.

Two seconds would be more like the right amount of time, I'd say, but really it should be down to the Captain to decide. If it's a tough question and he doesn't know it and there's no sign of life from the others he's as well passing it and getting on to the next one.

I think you perhaps misunderstood my post. Maybe I should have made it clearer.

You do see the audience in the celebrity editions. You see them in a wide shot of the studio at the beginning and end of the show, and at the ad breaks. You also see them behind the celebs during the Cashbuilders.

But in the regular editions, you never see these shots. You never once see the audience during the entire show. That's the dead giveaway that there is no audience.

True. I'd like to know if there's an audience in the normal versions.

I've been a contestant and can confirm there is no audience during the 'normal' editions. All laughter etc. is dubbed on later. Even for the 'Fanny Schmelar' scene...
