It doesn't allow it

The interesting back story to this highly entertaining 4 in a bed is that Melinda hasn't got local authority planning permission to use her 'house on an estate'.

It's been operating for 12mths or more without permission and has been 'forced' to apply and apparently local people are not happy with the noise etc and having a b&b (or she calls it a hotel often) on their doorsteps

She's had to put in for retrospective planning permission. If you search the internet the story is there

I bet she hasn't got Enviro Health or Fire Regs etc etc if she hasn't even got the conversion from Home to B&B permission.

Tut, tut, Smarmy Melinda and Mr Melinda the Hotel Inspector.

I can't wait for her day

see the comments on it here, it's in the local news

http://publicaccess.trafford.gov.uk/...=NWZKE8QLLPN00

I'm loving this new series.
This does not surprise me one bit! Great find Pete. Thanks.

It never clicked yesterday but the intro says that Stewart id accompanying Lady Melinda suggesting they aren't actually a couple. Maybe he's a gigolo she's hired for tv purposes.

She only drives a Volvo too...she really does lower the tone of Bowden!
Very interesting! I wonder if she gets permission eventually.

Very interesting.

Rather silly to agree to feature the business on a TV Show before that is sorted out.

The 'grease' was from the black pudding, he should have drained it a bit though. hard egg from a chef? basic mistake. picky lot arent they?
I disagree - I don't like fried eggs cooked through and have been known to chuck em if they're not runny

I know they can't show every single thing but each of them complained about the oil-slick on their plates but only one was read out in the feedback.

For a chef - he's a bit crap really

I couldn't give a toss what lurks behind a bed but the spiders for me is a big no-no

That seems to happen a lot with the ones who go first - on CDWM too.

I did have to grin at the top of today's programme when Melinda described herself as 'fun'. Not from what I've seen.

Surely the spiders would have been mentioned earlier if they'd been there when they arrived - they looked hard enough for anything wrong? They must have come out and set up home overnight and I don't know what anyone can do about that. (Although I would have been out of the room like a shot if I'd seen them at any stage.)

I know we are all hating on Melinda this week, but I am finding Bubble guy equally bad. He seems to think his shit doesn't stink .

I thought that tonight's place was perfectly fine, the breakfasts looked OK, that grease looked more like tomatoe juice and black pudding juice. And it's ironic how someone who deep fries her food then goes on to complain about grease.

Very much so, taking a photo of the cobweb and spider (hope he was asked) was pathetic. As for the mark re cleanliness 6 seemed a joke. I hope Eileen isn't like what's er name, lady with massive inferiority complex.

Eileen and Menet both see to have a bit of a chip on their shoulder when they were having a go at Robert because he made the bread and croissants it was Melinda who asked about that.

Saying that wasn't that impressed with the breakfast, when that large lump of fat fell out of the black pudding being fried, my stomach turned and like others said they were swimming in fat.

And Eileen and Menet wouldn't stay again at tonight's place because of the price!!!! It wasn't that expensive.

Still loving Connie especially since I cottoned on to his place being called the Bubble Inn - "bubble" being rhyming slang for Greek (as in "bubble and squeak"). Of course it was the Europeans (Mani and Connie) who got the most out of the foraging because they actually LIKE food as a sensual experience rather than just fuel. I was pleased to see that the fried breakfasts didn't include (American) baked beans, but really surprised at the excess grease on the plates. A basic slip-up for a chef.

Exactly, and I only ever drink Nescafe, I hate that putrid percolator stuff it doesnt suit everyone.
That's the difficulty with the 'perfect breakfast' - perfection is subjective. I like 'proper' coffee (providing it is strong) and I like my poached or scrambled eggs fairly well-cooked... OH likes shiveringly runny eggs. It's very difficult for a small business to accommodate all those preferences so all you can really aim for is good quality ingredients well cooked even if each plate is not each to each individual's definition of perfection.

So Melinda joins the ranks of those who go on FIAB, and do their business no good at all.
Sometimes we've seen people not so much interested in promoting their business but appearing on 4iaB (or other reality shows) purely for self-promotion / ego purposes. I think Melinda will prove to be one of those. All about her and her (imagined) style and no real substance. But I might be wrong...

The interesting back story to this highly entertaining 4 in a bed is that Melinda hasn't got local authority planning permission to use her 'house on an estate'.
How interesting. Although, councils just don't have the money to fight planning appeals nowadays so unless there's something seriously wrong (contravention of fire or building regs, for eg) she'll probably get retro-active permission.

Connie is really coming off well this week! (So far )
And yet.. did I hear him say that in a cheffy way, he's on top of all the cooking trends? And then asked what 'foraging' was...

Eh ??? why is she bouncing up and down on the toilet lid
Because she's an arse?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Did Lucy say this is the final week of this series? If so, they usually save the most 'controversial' week till last. At this stage, I can't see any of them coming out of it well.

A bit of market research from me:
We saw someone find a small mark on one of the sheets - looked like a pen mark about 1cm long... would anyone here object to finding that providing the sheet looked clean and pressed ?

Those of you who like fried eggs for brekkie: what do you like your eggs fried in? Butter? Sunflower (or similar) oil? Duck fat ???

Back when I did my predictions for the week I thought she was a divorce having to use her home to make money?!
Yep, something's gone wrong and she's probably doing all she can to save having to sell up and move somewhere 'common.' She's one of the Cheshire set after all!

As this suggests it's a very expensive area with parts of it quite exclusive. She'll be lunching less and off a few Christmas card lists after appearing on this.

Well they could always ask the guest how they like their eggs when taking the order

Olive oil though tbh I'm not that fussed. Quite often, if I'm cooking, its pretty much just the bacon fat.

Is it made out of gold? Or is prevention really that expensive?

I think this is the last week, yes.

No, a pen mark wouldn't bother me- I have a massive sharpie stain on my duvet cover. And yes, I know that my standards are not the same as a paying guest ones. Now if it was a massive blood stain, that yes, would bother me. A pen isn't a bodily liquid, so it's fine.

Eggs I like fried in sunflower oil when just fried or in butter and double cream when scrambled. With grated cheddar.
