I agree, they were a bit much, how are two spiders, which can come into the cleanest of places in minutes worse then a rotten, soiled mattress, to justify that it had been turned was not on, it's ruined, it's soiled, you shouldn't expect customers to sleep on a mattress like that and then think the size of the room makes up for it, you don't sleep on the size of the room, the bed is the most important thing in there.

It was utterly rank.

IDK how TF they thought they'd ever get away with it? It's not as though they're short of a bob or two either - tight bastards.

It should have been taken out to their copious grounds and burned

I couldn't believe the cheek of her excuse that the mattress had been turned over and had a cover over it! ok in some establishments that would happen and you'd never know to be honest, because you wouldn't inspect. But knowing they were going on this programme not to replace it for a new, sparkling clean one, when you're trying to portray your place as absolutely top notch, is just really sloppy and deserved being pulled up.

I couldn't actually work out if he owned the place. I concluded he was a tenant or manager?

Not sure. He's not there anymore so I don't know if he sold it or just moved on to another managerial position in another pub or B&B.

I'm sure he said at one point during the week that he'd bought the pub. However it was clear that he had already come to the conclusion it was just too much for him to manage on his own. It was also telling when he told the lads that he couldn't survive on what they wanted to pay so I'm guessing he had a big loan and couldn't actually afford any more staff.
Good luck to him - at least he had a go and hopefully got out before it all became too much.

That woman from the Bluebell was a nasty piece of work. Really glad they didn't win.

The filth under Fay's bed was never mentioned, but it obviously hadn't been vacuumed for months.

I didn't think Fay was bad at all, just a bit odd!

We never heard a word about all that muck Fay found. I hope the faux posh woman was mortified when she saw it on TV.

Monday

The contest begins at The Richard III in Middleham, a pub run by Ken Ward and his wife Sharon, who become suspicious when one couple check out before breakfast. The North Yorkshire village is known for its horse racing links, but one of the competitors, Matt Wilson, has a fear of horses, and another couple are concerned at staying above a noisy pub.

Tuesday

The second visit is to the Court House Unique Boutique B&B in Shelsley Walsh, Worcestershire, where hosts Keith and Lisa Shearin hope to impress. On arrival, Ken and Sharon are blown away by their honeymoon suite and the seemingly low price. Suspicions over price fixing drive Matt and Paul to the internet to verify the room rate, where they discover an anomaly, and despite Keith's best efforts at breakfast, Jo and Louis dismiss it as being too fancy.

Wednesday

The contestants travel to Castley Camp in Otley, Yorkshire for the third day of the contest, owned by single mum Jo Stevenson and her son Louis. Some of the guests are horrified by stains on their bedding and dust in their room, while an afternoon boot camp fitness session reveals Keith's competitive side. At feedback, Jo is left fuming over the comments about cleanliness and breakfast.

Thursday

The final two days see the contestants staying the night at the Lion & Swan in Congleton, Cheshire, run by owner Paul Whyle and manager Matt Wilson. A dirty bathroom and a waterbed cause upset, while some guests are still fuming about previous negative feedback. However, the worst is left for breakfast, when Sharon reveals she has discovered their rooms online at a higher price than they were told, upsetting Keith and Lisa and leaving the hosts determined to clear their names.

Friday

The B&B owners meet for the last time to find out what they've been paid and to settle some scores. First up are Ken and Sharon from The Richard III, who want to learn more about what's been causing Jo and Louis to lose sleep. Next, Keith and Lisa from The Court House Unique Boutique B&B want to challenge Matt about the allegations of price fixing and vehemently fight their corner. Needless to say, there is tension in the air and axes to grind, before the winner is revealed.

Sounds like a contraversial week. Though sometimes the pre-publicity over-eggs the controversy.

I think we've been told by past competitors that they are told to charge the maximum rate they do, so its possible there would be a discrepancy between the rate on the program (high season rate) and the going rate at the time of filming. Never heard of anyone doing the very obvious on-line lookup before, even though poor internet access has been a bone of contention at some places.
