It's very British in a way to tut and huff but not complain face to face.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they turn out to be the ones that get a slaughtering on Friday for being two faced as they said nothing about it rather than Ray for providing such horrific conditions. |

Donna is irritating me with her insistence on a vegetarian sausage; if you're vegetarian surely any meat free alternative is good. If you want something exactly like a meat sausage, perhaps you're not as committed a vegetarian as you'd like to be.

I wonder if Ray is familiar with the expression "All fur coat and no knickers". He isn't the first (and he won't be the last) to make the mistake of talking his own standards up and then not bothering to check those standards rigorously before the guests arrive. What are they thinking?

you cant complain about £55 , i prefer the rooms to the first B&B, that was like an old person home.
Having said that i have now seen the bed Edit : i know would think twice about staying there The couple who stripped the bed made me so angry... They should have told Ray. I genuinely think from the look on his face at feed back did not realise this was happening. As to stained mattress there are always going to be STAINED mattresses in hotel rooms if you knew what you slept on even in good expensive hotels you would be shocked. He did say at dinner that the bedrooms were next for refurbishment. I thought the place for 55.00 was ok. Yes it needed some extra cleaning, but it wasnt that bad, ONLY THEIR room seemed to have an issue and the restaurant and the food was very good they said that themselves. We knew he was going to be made a FOOL of because he made made poor feedback on this couples feedback form, so they were going to make him out to be stupid and show him up, by ADDING all the drama. REALLY he would have known about it, because it was being FILMED so it seems to me he was either given a lot of money to allow it to happen, or he really didnt know about it....and the producers made him out to be a fool. IF the latter then i am not sure i like the concept of this programme anymore. It just seems to me that they take one person in the week and make them out to look stupid. |

We dont object to a sausage, just a meat filled sausage, it is basic these days to offer a veggie option, he needs to get into the 21 century.
To offer stir fried indian style veggies instead is a little ignorant. He MADE THE EFFORT, he didnt just to to tesco and buy Linda McCartney food. He is Indian hindi, and wanted to share his cuisine with her. I think she is the one who was IGNORANT. Loads of hotels do NOT offer vegetarian sausages..... We know they are going to be frozen so its not even difficult to make, so making something from scratch and fresh for me would be a much nicer alternative. |

Why would he have allowed them to film the bedroom being taken apart and all the stuff being thrown out of the door etc? He was there wasnt he? He must have known about it surely..... I dont understand it. The rooms needed refurbishment, he said that himself, BUT knowing he was going to be on the T.V. I am surprised he allowed the rooms to be used that were dirty. The stained carpets can be cleaned with a cleaner... the walls quickly wiped over from the crayon......(crikey you can get that off with a cream cleaner), the dust on skirting birds 2 minute job. No there is something awfully fishy about all this. The Indian/Hindu race are very proud and clean people. He looked MORTIFIED at the feedback. I could go into his place and have it sorted in a day. The basics were there. I cannot beleive he wasnt aware about the mattress they made enough huffing and puffing about it, and it was being FILMED.... NAH something stinky like that ladies soup on CDWM lol..... IF he is deluded then his Poppa will not be happy and I doubt he will be running it after this. |

Well i disagree with you over that. I thought she was really rude. This guy might be deluded seems people have to pick on one person per week, BUT at least he gave her breakfast some thought. He was quite pleased with himself over that. He made her a traditional Indian breakfast. She must have eaten traditional Indian main meal the night before and perhaps she enjoyed it, so he thought he would do that for her instead.
He MADE THE EFFORT, he didnt just to to tesco and buy Linda McCartney food. He is Indian hindi, and wanted to share his cuisine with her. I think she is the one who was IGNORANT. I do completely agree re the vegetarian breakfast though. I actually cringed a bit when I read some comment a few pages back that called him 'a bit ignorant' because he didn't offer a vegetarian sausage. It just smacked of the 'none of that foreign muck' attitude some Brits have. The guy's Indian, he runs an Indian restaurant and he offered some freshly prepared Indian vegetarian food for breakfast - what the hell is 'ignorant' about that? |

I disagree with you on the cleanliness of the rooms, Lucy - I think it was appalling and I absolutely don't buy that this was a set-up - he needs to up his standards and check the rooms properly after they've been cleaned.

ACTUALLY JUST REWATCHED it on catch up. The rooms are not that bad. A stain on carpet, some dust and crayon. Some dust found behind a bed. TIRED YES and some need painting, but when you watch it again the rooms had clean bedding, towels, kettle, iron, ironing board etc and T.V. I actually felt sorry for him at breakfast he did look deflated over her breakfast. |

HOW DID THEY GET A MATTRESS cover? Where did they buy it? How come it fit PERFECT. Where do you buy mattress covers from lol..... You would have to go out leave the filming and track one down. It all seems so contrived to me all of it. I cant say the hotel was the best it needs work without doubt but then I have seen worse on this programme. ACTUALLY if you rewatch the programme the guy with the so called uncooked bacon hadnt even noticed lol until SHE put her fingers all over it lol. |

I'm a meat eater, but if indian style veggie breakfast was on offer I'd gladly have given it a try. You'd think the contestants would get a bit "egg 'n baconed out" during the week or so filming actually takes.

When we owned the hotel we had two journalists from the Times of India stay with us, they were from the Bombay office. Absolutely top blokes they were. One had brought with him some ingredients and he very kindly offered to cook us breakfast on the morning they were to leave. They were our only guests that morning and he had insisted so we said yes please! he cooked us a dish with this special rice that was flat and looked like flakes rather than grains. He put all these spices in it, turmeric etc, and served it to us in our dining room. They sat and ate with us. I cannot tell you how delicious it was, I couldn't say I'd eat it every morning but it was different and a nice change from baguette and croissants. It was a real treat for the kids. Very nice guys and they wrote to us when they got back to Bombay. They wanted to bring their wives and children over next time they came but we didn't see them again as we sold up and returned to the UK.

If anyone was being IGNORANT it was Ray. He knew her ladyship had asked for a vegetarian sausage at the two previous establishments so he should have bought some to cover the likely request. Part of his establishment appears to be a supermarket so it shouldn't have been any problem for him.
He then didn't exactly sell what he had prepared to her. Instead of saying something like 'I'm cooking a special Indian vegetarian breakfast for you. There's fresh sauted mushrooms and freshly cooked mixed vegetables (listing what they were) stuffed inside cheese wraps. I think you'll really like it.' he said 'I can do for you vegetarian mushrooms, we do (mumbled) wrap and we do fresh vegetables if you want.' He made it sound like he'd found a few non meat things in the kitchen that she could make do with. It didn't even appear to be a special Indian breakfast either. One of the guys summed it up with his saying he thought Ray would have thought 'I don't need veggie sausages. I can whip something up for this and it'll be brilliant.' I'm with Donna on this one. Ray got it wrong although it was put over to make her look bad. From what we've seen she doesn't need any help with that though. Hosts that prepare something they like and expect a virtual stranger to therefore like it then get all upset because it's not to their taste are the ignorant ones imho. |

Oh I see. When you said the hotel I thought you were referring to the same hotel we were discussing. That would have been funny if you owned it before him.

Re the uncooked bacon. Ive been served bacon like that in hotels where it sits in a server. It looks 'raw' but is actually cooked, it's just not crispy/grilled, looks more like boiled bacon. It's not how I like it either but we saw him cooking the bacon and bacon does not take long to cook on each side. Probably had too much oil so it broiled rather than browned.

You seem to forget this is on going filming for about 2 weeks. Perhaps he wasnt in a position where he could get veggie sausages for her, who knows. He cooked her a vegetarian meal. Why should all these people put up with her nonsense. She is a pain in the backside. AND WHEN SHE WAS GIVING a vegetarian sausage day 1 she moaned and said it WASNT A VEGETARIAN SAUSAGE lol.... you cant win with her lol. Vegetarian for breakfast is the easiest thing in the world without all the demands. You can have cereal, toast, eggs, mushrooms, baked beans. This programme is about small B&B his was a TWO STAR, at least he offered a cooked breakfast. ENOUGH ALREADY with the pigging sausages lol. Sick of reading about them. She was ignorant she could have tried what he made, and dont forget you have no idea if he sold it to her or not as the programme is highly edited. |

Clearly, she was checking everyone else's breakfast as well as her own and generally looking for things to complain about. She was very curt and dismissive to Ray when he offered her something different. Also the way she speaks to her business partner is awful. |
