There always has to be a villain otherwise people would not be interested. That said I'm always stunned when people go on and can't rein it in long enough to be shown in a good light. I think Jackie was obviously damaged by her divorce and is now very bitter. Surely sheer good sense would tell you that if you are going on a tv programme to give your business publicity, you should show it (and you if you are the front of house) in a good light. The 'northerners' played that game perfectly.

I remember early shows when some of the places were incredibly grimy, in fact downright filthy, yet now there's a moan if they find a hair underneath a mattress topper ffs.

That's why it would be fairer if the couldn't see their feedback until they have all seen each other's places and paid up.

That way we'd avoid the silly tit for tat stuff we see all too often, and the ever increasing nit picking for silly reasons when all that has happened is that they have misunderstood a comment.

The place that goes first has a HUGE advantage over the others in that they know what the others looked for, and in some cases predict an underpayment, so go out of their way to find fault.

It would be interesting if they didn't know the actual prices beforehand as well - just have a general overview of prices for B&Bs in the general area (would also stop the "I only charge £80/ night for my crummy B&B in the back end of nowhere, and I'm not paying anyone any more than I charge!" Nonsense we have seen too!

All great ideas, especially the feedback being kept back till the final day. I've always thought they should not be told the prices and to just 'pay what you think they are worth' - that seems fairer plus would probably give more entertaining responses (for us the viewer lol) when they open their envelopes. Imagine charging £95 for B&B only for someone to give you £50.

And as one place can win by underpaying all the others - why not change the rules to no money being paid - but the contestants each have to rank the others 1-3 in secret at the end of the week.

1st place gets 10 points, second place 8 points and 3rd gets 5 - one with the highest points wins max points is 30 if all 3 competitors vote one place as top.

Also the place who goes last has the worse deal, as they hardly get time to get back and sort their place out. Now if they have a manager or help its not so bad but some do it on their own or put a friend in to keep the rooms running (I mean who can afford to shut for two weeks), so literally have to dash back and make sure everything is ok.

Most of the comments here are spot-on. Jackie did not deserve to win based on what we saw last week. I get that things are edited to fit a certain narrative but surely they must realize their exposure on this show could impact their business. By the end of the week, Jackie had nearly morphed into David "I prefer a flan" Brent. And what the hell was with the bizarre and awkward flirting with Jackie and Patrick? I think Norman maybe was right in that she was trying to deflect on her harsh comments. But a £24 underpayment? Ridiculous. Might be interesting to keep an eye on the fb page of the Oak Tree Cottage. Something similar happened on Kitchen Nightmares (Gordon Ramsay) with Amy's Baking Company when the owners went into meltdown mode after the show's airing where they came across as unstable and in severe denial. I'm not saying I wish bad things upon her, but she did say that people should be able to take criticism if they want to win.

Monday

The competition kicks off at the Bell House Hotel in Wiltshire, where business partners Chris Williams and Jacqui Hogg hope guests will appreciate their attempts to bring London chic to the shires. Susan and David Speak are frustrated by the low shower pressure, while Jade Hendon butts heads with Matthew over healthy eating at dinner and the hosts' absence at breakfast the next morning gets the criticism flowing.

Tuesday

The second visit is to The Partridge in Oxfordshire, where young couple Matthew Cockman and Paula Szkwarkowska hope guests will get on board with their passion for local organic food. A communal bathroom has the guests lost for words, and the lack of a hot breakfast included in the price leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouths.

Wednesday

The contestants travel to Strawberry Gardens B&B in Heysham for the third day of the contest, where husband and wife team Susan and David Speak offer home-from-home accommodation and an abundance of northern hospitality. Sports enthusiast David treats his guests to a traditional darts competition, adjudicated by former world champion Alan Warriner-Little, but he is unimpressed when Paula sends back her evening meal. However, it is Chris and Jacqui's feedback that disappoints the hosts the most.

Thursday

The final visit of the week is to the Bateman's Mill near Chesterfield, where manager Jade Hendon has high hopes of being the best. But she faces an uphill battle when David and Susan go out of their way to find hairs in the bathroom - and to make mattters worse, her Derbyshire breakfast is not a hit with Chris and Jacqui.

Friday

The B&B owners meet for the last time to find out what they have been paid and to settle some scores, starting with Chris and Jacqui, owners of the Bell House, who want to find out why Matthew marked them down for being `too tall' for his bed. The group members proceed to thrash out their differences before the week's winners are revealed.

Thanks for the list ewoodie. That painting at The Bell House of the dog dressed as Admiral Nelson makes me hate it already.

I'm originally from Wiltshire and it's full of the 'lovely' weekend warrior types. It'll be interesting to see where this one goes

I find these tasks really tedious. If I went to a b&b I wouldn't expect the hosts to take me out and do crap stuff. They were close enough to my home town of Malmesbury, they could have gone to see the naked gardener at Abbey House gardens...would have been a bit more interesting

They'd have to put it on after the watershed.

I heard a daisy would be big enough to cover his modesty.
