The lad really knows his chickens - they're not free range chickens, they're a traditional breed...* so implying that traditional birds can't / don't free range? Of course they bloody can! The organic lettuce is free range but the chickens are not? I suspect what he was trying to gloss over was his food budget doesn't run to free range chicken.

What an immature, petulant boy. "We thought people would be ignorant and they are so... whatever." I can see that he's upset that his 'baby' wasn't loved the way he thought it should be but I don't think he's cut out for the hospitality industry.

He seems to have a lot of pent up anger. Must be a vegan thing.

If priced correctly, I have no issue with a continental breakfast and shared bathroom. I have done it in the past to get a bargain. However, at the prices he is charging, I'd expect more

With what was on offer (or should I say what was NOT on offer) it was closer to a hostel than a B&B.

What a git he is. Fancy calling the others ignorant!

I loved the preview when he asks for a vegan breakfast tomorrow. That is the guy who was eating meat suasages yesterday!!! The response from Jane that she would just give him a carrot on a plate was brilliant.

I don't mind him. He has principles. So what? The younger gym bunny woman is the biggest pain because she attacks what he says and is very chippy and aggressive.

The continental breakfast looked nice enough but expecting guests to eat in their rooms is not on. Not keen on the shared facilities either.

He said the chicken wasn't organic but they were a traditional breed. At no time did he say or imply that chickens can't be both.

So he can't a afford free range chicken but can afford a traditional breed? It really sounds like he's chosen the chicken for the breed and in this case it doesn't happen to be free range.

He's definitely a bit of a dick head! So far i don't mind him because there have been far worse on 4IAB. He strikes me as someone who was very hurt when everyone said they wouldn't stay again. Let's see how he handles feedback day. I might have changed my mind by then and decided he's a git!

He definitely said the chickens weren't free range but were a traditional breed.

I agree. He did. He said the chickens weren't organic/free range and at no time did he say or imply that chickens can't be both organic/free range and a traditional breed.

I think this establishment will have a visit very soon!
Food left on the landing!?
Plus, there should be at least two doors between a toilet facility and kitchen!/serving food area

What an idiot this guy is. I cannot understand why the breakfast is laid out on the landing and guests are expected to awkwardly eat it perched at desks in their tiny bedrooms when the establishment is a pub with an empty (at that time of day) restaurant downstairs! It makes no sense at all.

And did my ears deceive me or did they say that they'd made a conscious decision not to have en-suite bathrooms? Er...okay, dimwits.

The way he said it certainly did imply that.

I can certainly relate to them offering only continental as standard - often people do want an early start so it does make sense and he will know the local market.
But it is bizarre to expect people to eat it in such small rooms! Why on earth don't they let them use the main dining room?

I had a quick look on Trip Adviser for Wallingford - it looks like The Partridge is actually very cheap for the area. One of the many faults with 4iab format is using the price charged as some areas it would be impossible to run a business at the rates charged elsewhere.

It's been done before on 4IAB. I think it was here at The Whittington and Cat in Hull. There were two women and no-one apart from the B&B-ers stayed on the premises over-night.

I'm sure the food hygiene people would have a field day with the breakfast serving scenario.

It looked like the bread and pastries were set out uncovered the night before - open invitation for mice ro come along and help themselves, particularly as they were on a low table!

The £55/ night for the shared bathroom rooms and continental breakkie is actually very reasonable for the area, but I wouldn't choose to stay there over a place with ensuite bathrooms and full breakfasts.

That's right - and he didn't mention organic at all. Odd, really, because - particularly after Hugh F-W's efforts - people are increasingly concerned about the quality of life a chook has had... not it's pedigree.

I didnt understand what he meant to be honest. I have rare breed chickens and they all free range, i had hybrid chickens too (traditional) which are cheap to buy and they were free range too. It depends on your facilities if they are or can be free range not the breed of the chicken. I was confused lol.

Is he a veggie as he was eating meat wasnt he. He is weird to be honest as he is healthy with food etc, but smokes....makes no sense to me.

I thought he got up in the morning and put the food out. I must admit i dont think people can complain for the price of the rooms to be honest they are being supplied a breakfast as well. I just think they should serve the breakfast as self service in the restaurant, to keep the food out of the rooms. It was clean I think it was ok for what it was, and lets face it like you said for the area a really good price.

He must do business didnt he say he had been there 3 years?
