She's very snippy. If this wasn't 4IAB, would she have spoken to a guest in that way? She will put people off her place.

Thats a fair comment. BUT I am a meat eater, and I actually love to eat non meat meals at least twice a week. I have never bought any of the pseudo looking dishes though. There are lovely vegetarian meals to make from fresh, lots of nice rice and pasta dishes, omelets, curries and soups, stews yum and things also fish which a lot of vegetarians will eat well then they are actually called pescatarian lol.

To be honest I dont eat processed food anyway even as a meat eater, no sausages or burgers. However, I do make my own veggie patties, and veggie fingers which I tend to add some fish on the side.

I can see it both ways.

BUT I think she was way over the top going on about veggie sausages and when she was offered them and cooked for her, she complained as she said they were NOT veggie sausages which is a nonsense. Thats when she got on my nerves to be honest. Nothing was going to appease her. Not quite sure what kind of veggie sausage she wanted. There is no other sausage then a meat one in my eyes anyway.

Veggie fingers yes.

I only saw eggs Benedict when the dish came out, BUT now i have watched it again there were several rolls of salmon on the plate which I mistook for decoration.

HOWEVER, this is still not classed as Eggs Royale as like Benedict the meat goes on the muffin then the egg and sauce, as per the salmon.

So I stand corrected. But it is still POSH eggs benedict.

Not aiming for any kind of tact. We remarked on it too.

I think when Donna complained about the 'vegetarian sausage' she'd actually been served potato and pea slices, or fingers as they might be called.
So although she's got on my nerves, I don't think she was wrong there.

For me, it's Donna's or the gay blokes place to win.”

Yes they were well presented but notice BOTH of them have staff on hand....so they should be good shouldnt they lol.

I hope the silent assasins dont win.

I like the 2 gay guys they have been fair all through. They are my favorites to win EVEN though I wouldn't personally stay there.

I agree about Ray, I found him polite and respectful even a tad delusional but he did say on film his place the rooms need refurbishing and were next, so he did know they were not to standard. I agree with someone who said he should have got the rooms done first. Perhaps he should have waited until the place was ready before venturing into 4inabed.

I am hoping his experience on this show helps him move forward with his place. He seemed to have the knowledge its just putting it down to practice.

For me, the game players were swallow.

Yes SS, but to be fair, if your not vegetarian, thousands of people are not, they havent got a clue. They buy what they assume is Vegetarian Sausages as it says so on the packet. IF they are NOT vegetarian how do they know they are not what is expected?

I prefer vegetable fingers, as I cant tolerate lagumes or nuts in my diet and I make my own as i use gluten free breadcrumbs.

I just think she was being rude and nick picking. Quite honestly it is no wonder why vegetarians get a hard press.

JEEZ who wants to eat this rubbish anyway.

This is the ingredients for a Meat Free Lincolnshire Style Sausages from TESCO.

It can't be benedict, posh or common, if it doesn't have ham/bacon. Smoked salmon makes it royale, spinach and it's florentine.

Smoked salmon isn't exactly high-end in these days of farmed fish.

Now - eggs beluga caviar - there's posh! (I expect Karen and Mike from last week have it every day!)

From Wiki:

Eggs Benedict is an American breakfast or brunch dish that consists of two halves of an English muffin, topped with ham, bacon or Canadian bacon; poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce.

Eggs Blackstone substitutes streaky bacon for the ham and adds a tomato slice.

Eggs Blanchard substitutes Béchamel sauce for Hollandaise.

Eggs Florentine substitutes spinach for the ham or adds it underneath.

Older versions of eggs Florentine add spinach to poached or shirred eggs. Shirred eggs, also known as baked eggs

Eggs Mornay substitutes Mornay (cheese) sauce for the Hollandaise.

Eggs Atlantic, eggs Hemingway, or eggs Copenhagen (also known as eggs Royale and eggs Montreal in New Zealand) substitutes salmon (or smoked salmon) for the ham. This is a common variation found in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United Kingdom. This is also known as "eggs Benjamin" in a few restaurants in Canada.

Huevos Benedictos substitutes either sliced avocado or Mexican chorizo for the ham, and is topped with both a salsa (such as salsa roja or salsa brava) and hollandaise sauce.

Eggs Hussarde substitutes Holland rusks for the English muffin and adds Bordelaise sauce.

Irish Benedict replaces the ham with corned beef or Irish bacon.

Dutch Benedict replaces the ham or bacon with scrapple. Popular in the eastern region of Pennsylvania.

Eggs Hebridean replaces the ham with black pudding, often from Stornoway.

Eggs Cochon, a variation from New Orleans restaurants which replaces the ham with pork "debris" (slow roasted pork shredded in its own juices) and the English Muffin with a large buttermilk biscuit.

Let's see if any of these ever make an appearance on 4IAB!

I think that last night's place was very nice even though the rooms did look quite corporate. But then they must be easy to maintain and to keep looking fresh and crisp. I would much rather stay in a room like that, than one that looks like it was decorated by my grandma in the 70's.

Also, the road wouldn't bother me, but then I live on a busy road so I'm used to the noise.

Have you noticed that this week all of the room prices were more or less the same, except for Ray's?

Speaking of the devil, I found his breakfast behaviour of ordering off the menu just because Donna refused something that she didn't ask for for breakfast absolutely despicable. Really showed him for what he really was.

Now Donna strikes me as someone who has worked very hard for a long time to get to where she is now, and at some point she assumed this tough persona, or perhaps she always had it, in order to succeed. I have worked with such people, and they often do not know how to switch it off, so seem quite rude. It's like a personal protection guard in a way, if you know what I mean? Anyway, I much prefer her no-nonsense say it as it is attitude to that of say nothing and just quietly bitch behind people's back.

Hey Ho.
To get back on track, The Silverton offer a breakfast/brunch menu to non residents as well as hotel guests, it looks good value. Links are on this page.
Handily it explains what each dish is and it features both Eggs Benedict and RoyalE (nod to Donna there) so when you order, there's no doubt what you're going to get.

I'm not vegetarian, never have been, don't have any in the family or amongst friends, but I have a brain . If you're involved in the catering trade it really isn't that hard to find out and it really, really isn't hard to read the ingredients and realize that peas and potatoes aren't going to replicate any kind of sausage item. I didn't see them closely enough to rationalize if they could be thought to be any kind of sausage, but they probably looked more like a vegetable finger or croquette, so why not simply call them that? We're not still in the 70s when hardly anyone thought of catering for vegetarians.

I've got to take issue as well with your comments above. I don't know why you find the need to be so disparaging towards what somevegetarians might choose to eat, even to the lengths of researching and copy and pasting. There are also plenty of meat based products which could be considered to have inferior content. Some people are unaware, some simply don't care and some are on a strict budget and can't mange to spend on anything better.
I wouldn't eat either, but when you're catering for others then it isn't all about you is it.

I think people should be able to choose their preferences and enjoy what they eat, You said
Quote:
“ I just think she was being rude and nick picking. Quite honestly it is no wonder why vegetarians get a hard press.”

and there's no wonder some vegetarians get agitated with some meat eaters' comments is there. Despite the LOLZ it's rude and disrespectful, far more so than Donna's comments.

Anyway, it now looks like I'm having a go at you, which I'm not, I'm just tackling what you've said. Same as I also tackled Donna being pernickety with either James or Darren's pronunciation. She has come across as very snippy at times - not nice.
Never the less, I agree with her that you should provide what you're describing when you're selling to the public, just as I think you should be respectful of other people's preferences despite your own opinions.

I also agree that Donna's probably affected a clinical veneer as a form of self protection (have also met similar) and it is nice when you see that relax. I liked how Darren or James (apologies for not remembering) very quickly stepped in to replace Jane's 'more human' comment with 'softer' Very diplomatic of him.
