I don't think she's going to take this criticism well....

It certainly looked as if the breakfast was pre-cooked. Maybe that's what Matthew meant by his criticism of the breakfast. It looked to me as though it was just all slapped on the plate. I don't like beans with my breakfast but it looks better if they are served separately in small bowl/dish.

How many times did she say Derbyshire breakfast? Does every area now have it's own regional breakfast?

It was a bit out dated and the rooms seemed a bit basic. It certainly wasn't a home from home. The rooms looked a bit Premier Inn style. Although it looked like a lovely building from the outside and the setting looked nice enough.

I thought she took criticism well today. She probably knows she has things to improve.

Oatcakes are pretty dry. The idea is the brekkie goes on top and the juices soak into it. Serving it on the side like Chris wanted would defeat their whole purpose!
Not sure why she kept calling them "Derbyshire" oatcakes though - round here in Notts they are always sold as "Staffordshire oatcakes"

I'm no expert, but I do think Matthew is on the autistic spectrum - the "I wasn't allowed to talk about food" comment was quite telling. Perhaps he should be cut a little slack?

I don't think he's autistic. Just anal.

Same reason she kept calling the brekkie a Derbyshire breakfast. I've always known them as Staffordshire oatcakes.

Not sure but I wondered about that.

I've also known them as Staffordshire oatcakes when I lived in Derbyshire. We used to fry ours and they were delicious, certainly not dry and palid like those were today

I don't think so either, but it seems everyone slightly out of the norm has to have a label these days...

They definitely are Staffordshire oatcakes, and very much overdone - they only need a light grilling on both sides.

Nor do I. Not least because of his chosen job - where skills to build a rapport with customers are needed. Not a natural choice for someone with ASD.

Yes, he's (over?)-enthusiastic about his passion (and maybe just a bit deluded if he thinks he knows how to save the world )... and not always articulate when presenting his opinions. But how much of what's been shown has been first encouraged by the production team and then smartly edited to make him look OTT?

One could equally argue (though I wouldn't!) that Jade appears to be obsessed with her fitness training and some of her comments (particularly to Matthew) could be interpreted as inappropriately direct, unempathetic - she's the one who tried to forbid a normal subject of conversation rather than continue to engage and discuss.

Oooooh!! Oatcake-gate! Grilled or fried? But which is better? Only one to find out...

Or stuffed with cheese and bacon! YUM.

Although Derbyshire oatcakes are mentioned, Jade's were probably Staffordshire!

Matthew is OTT about saving the world, yet smokes. Jade is keen on keeping-fit, yet stuffs a big fried brekkie down every day. Did anyone say anything to Jade? Yet she will have been the first to tell Matthew.

So far, Matthew has not been rude but Jade has. She's an aggressive big gob who took the opportunity to lay down the law before they visited her place to shut Matthew down. She stopped him from raising any issues at her place because he did as he was told. Now that is odd. many others wouldn have told her where to shove it.

Jade and Matthew were bound to clash.
