They definitely are Staffordshire oatcakes, and very much overdone - they only need a light grilling on both sides.

Bit late commenting but my thoughts on last week try and bite size it down.

Worst bunch in a while as other have said all seemed to out to get each other.

Mathew while annoying was portrayed much worse than I actually think he was.

Jade and her friend was horrid on the final day to him comparing his hotel to a youth hostel and implying he not fit to judge food was harsh also she must have gone over than answer numerous times regarding his place.

They all criticised his no cooked option when their was a cooked option.

While Mathew was expensive didn't seem to grasp it was in Oxfordshire which would be more expensive than the north.

Mathew comment regarding bed was justified all he was saying was they don't have a bed post at the end of the bed didn't see the harm in what he said they made a big deal out of it.

also the first couple criticised people underpaying them based on cleanliness issue yet they used that for reasons of an underpayment.

roll on next week hopefully better.

There are two different types. The derbyshire one is bigger then the staffordshire one lol.....so usually served seperate, where the Derbyshire one is served under the food, or people fill them like wraps.
There are more than two types.

What they had on 4IAB looked exactly the same as a Staffordshire oatcake and that includes the size. Also Staffordshire oatcakes are not served separately. They are served with breakfast and they are also served filled with bacon, cheese, sausage, egg etc. .

I never knew that oatcakes came in different sizes. But I've only seen the large ones for sale and they've always been labeled "Staffordshire" so thats what I'll stick to.

I live in Stoke, currently on holiday in Cornwall (not in a B&B, thankfully, but in my caravan ) and have 3 packets in my fridge right now that I brought from home. I bring more for my friends here (including a couple from the Potteries). In all the years I've lived there, I've always known people to grill them and fill with cheese, tomatoes, bacon, sausages etc.

I think that Jade one is under the impression that her opinion is the only opinion!

But even that's not as tasty as the Derbyshire cream tea. Homemade Derbyshire scones - bigger than other scones, layered with the finest Derbyshire jam and Derbyshire clotted cream made with milk from the biggest moo in Derbyshire!

As much of a pain as Matthew was (and he was an almighty pain) the real vipers in the grass for me were Jade and her sidekick. Two of the most aggressive bitches (self titled according to themselves) this show has seen for a good while.

Wasn't it strange how the only person they had a problem with was Matthew? Yes none of them really liked him, but the other couples had the good grace not to poke fun at him all week long. ........
The other couples were old enough and wise enough to understand that knocking down such an easy target is no fun. I loved the winners and the runners-up, and even though the winning B & B wasn't to my taste at all the owners were so funny and pleasant I can understand their business would be thriving. The B & B in second place (with the chap with the lovely Welsh accent) was very much to my taste and I think it would be FUN to stay there.

Poor Matthew. "Fun" isn't a concept which comes easily to him. I hope that with time he will understand that you can't convert people to your way of thinking by ramming it down their throat constantly - especially, as another poster has already mentioned, since your POV has so many holes in it. As for the two ladies. I'm afraid my hackles go up the MINUTE anybody hammers home where they are from as if this explained every terrible habit they have. "Plain speaking" can equal rudeness - and why the need to constantly refer to your origins with such pride since it gives the impression (rightly or wrongly) that your place of origin is implicitly superior to anywhere else. Such nonsense.

I was on the phone so only glancing at it in the background. Todays place looked quite dull. Thursdays place looks very nice.

I had it on in the background casting half an eye and an ear while I'm working. Did the same last week but didn't bother commenting as nowhere appealed to me and they were all game playing IMO.

So here we go again, where people who feedback that the toilets haven't been cleaned properly and labelled 'nit picking' and the tone is set for all out retaliation over perceived slights. Where's the roll eyes smiley hiding again?

I'll have to watch it in catch up, I was getting some sunburn in the garden while taking some photos of our swallows for research.

I'm now indoors with one side of my face slightly redder than the other

Only just watching this, they are a picky lot!

That looked like dog hair on the bed.

That activity was a disgrace, those poor sheep

Star sign lady is useless!

Marie is hair obsessed and a bit over the top. seems she has some cleanliness issues, perhaps obsessive compulsive cleaners would have been a better show for her?

Less cholesterol in grilled bacon? I think not, not if its fried in veggie oil, silly woman.

A nice solid brekkie , they all liked it wow makes a change.

A 4 for no separate shower? oh just have a bath and enjoy it!

Slept in her dressing gown, she DOES have problems.

Its a no from picky.

There should not be hairs from animals in the rooms, what if another customer has an allergy? they should make sure they are cleaned properly, she was a bit silly about it though.

Yet again some cretin marks down because they think sheets are dirty and won't sleep in them..... FFS tell he owners and ask for clean ones - as yer man said - all she had to do was ask - and I'm sure they'd have changer her room if the hairs were really an issue for her - or hoovered them up for her....

Same thing for other easy fixes - just tell them somethings wrong and let them at least try and fix it before marking down.

While of course we'd all prefer to sleep on hair-free sheets, I do think Mad Marie (and not mad in a good way apparently) was completely OTT sleeping in her dressing gown on top of the bed. Then she had the nerve to say she had a bad sleep!

This issue of hairs is ridiculous now. Surely it's obvious whether a bathroom's been cleaned or not and whether sheets are freshly laundered? It's entirely possible that some of the "hairs" found in bathrooms are really fibres from cleaning cloths and that the hairs found on sheets have been laundered anyway so are unlikely to cause any lasting damage to someone sleeping on them. (Where IS that eye-roll smiley?)

If you have an allergy to pet hairs, why book a pet-friendly B&B?

It's surprising Mad Marie had an issue with a few rogue hairs, considering she seems to have styled hers on Rod Stewart circa 1978.
