BIB - sorry I don't agree. He was at great pains to explain on the day he stayed that he was on his phone all the time. If this was indeed the case you would have thought he would have had the nouse to say to the host my phone won't work. At least that way he would have found out for sure whether it was operator incompetence or there was genuinely no signal in that room. I somehow suspect if they could get a signal in the rest of the B&B then it would be possible to get it in their room too on the input of the code, and even if it was not then bringing it to the hosts attention would give her the opportunity to offer an alternative room (there were meant to be 4 letting rooms I think).

And having said that being on the phone could not have been that important to him if he just gave up and did not try to find a work around such as asking the host for help after all that is what they are there for.

They were *all* game-players, they *all* underpaid and thus let themselves down as a result. It was just that some were more bitter than others. A shameful week, really.

No way I might consider the Billy's or Marie's, they were at least pleasant even if they were playing a game too.

I didn't imagine it, mishear it nor misunderstand. I just got the episode out of the Tivo bin and rewatched. What he said was;

"I'm just not picking up any wifi in here. I need to be contactable to my work all the time. I'm not getting a network"

In my world, that doesn't mean the signal was weak or poor or that he'd suddenly forgotten how to use his iPhone. It meant there was no signal in that room just like I said before.

I disagreed with RRL's statement about Billy Jr being ridiculous for not being able to work the wifi because for all intents and purposes, there was no wifi.............for them.

Being nasty seems to be the new normal on FIAB. It's a rarity to see a nice couple and when you do, they invariably get royally stitched-up and still don't win - even if they have superior accommodation and hosting.

I think they're going to have to tweak the format somehow. I don't think this 'Cheats Always Prosper' thing is a good long-term strategy for the show.

I agree that the normal thing to do would have been to go and ask if they could have a room where the wifi connection was better but tbh, when do they EVER bring anything constructive to the attention of the host/give the host an opportunity to put things right?

They rarely do - they'd much rather use it as an excuse to bitch in the feedback and justify an underpayment.

It's getting bloody boring now.

Not just boring but when they're sleeping in dressing-gowns or on the floor, it's plainly ridiculous. Yes, it's a competition but in real life, you'd complain to the host straight away. Clearly the production team has told them not to do that, so they can build up some resentment/bitterness via the feedback forms; likewise it seems that they've been told to underpay when (because) they've found some 'issues'.

Whoever said a few weeks ago that the forms shouldn't get read until the Friday was right - we should be able to see them but not the hosts. There's now too much tit-for-tat scoring and the obsession with hairs has gone way too far.

My goodness, what a miserable humourless sour faced besom Yvonne was, ditto for her nodding dog of a friend. Well done on winning the plaque on account of receiving a slightly smaller underpayment than everyone else, and enjoy putting it up in your Blackpool doss house.

No the guy on a few weeks ago ex navy said it was ridiculous the rush you had to get back and everything had to be checked quickly....everyone was tired too and fractious by then as well which i can imagine to be honest. The first lot are fresh, and as they go downwards they probably get more tired. They spend HOURS hanging about so it must be a bit stressful.

And the winner of the week is........ and her scoring was.....

£10.00 for what she felt was a tacky throw (she obviously hasnt seen her place)
£9.50 for correctly cooked tomatoes and mushrooms.
£20 for a few hairs in a button on a mattress.....

Indeed .. and one who obviously has left her brain in the left-luggage office. After watching this can you imagine anyone wanting to stay with her after seeing her crappy place and being witness to her unpleasant (bordering on nasty) nature?

I'd stay at all 3 other places quite happily, despite the fact they cost more rather than her dump (and it was a dump) but I'd avoid hers like the plague!

Some of the under payments we have seen this show are just getting ridiculous now, as well as the tit for tat stuff - are they all supposed to be adults?

Please producers - stop basing the result on payments which allow places like the Canberra and Oak Tree Cottage to win when they don't deserve to! Game players find it far too easy to win the plaque simply by underpaying when it wasn't justified (eg Yvonne's underpayment of £10 for what she saw as an undercooked tomato), or refusing to pay more than they charge themselves, no matter that their place is in the back end of nowhere and another in a popular tourist area.

Let them rank each other first second or third at the end of the week on the overall experience of their visits - no points, no money, just the (hopefully) objective opinions of - fellow property owners, then allocate points based on the scores eg 10 for first, 8 for second 5 for third, and award the plaque to the highest scorer on that.

Hopefully, all three of the other places - but especially the Billy's - will get more business coming their way, whilst the unworthy winners will sink back into their well deserved obscurity.

Nobody wants a bed full of other people's hair, however, hair does shed from people's head and unless the people changing them and making them wear chef's hairnets, you may find the odd hair around, which doesn't mean the bed isn't perfectly clean.

It's going too far though, the other day they found a bit of fluff on the bedding, which can come with it fresh out of the packet and they marked a 6 or 7 for cleanliness because of it. It's just not right.

I can't be bothered with the show as it stands any more.

For me, it's the fact that Yvonne only found those hairs because she took the sheet off, then the mattress protector. A point that Young Billy picked up on very quickly. To me, if I was underpaying, it would be if the breakfast was rubbish or the standard of cleanliness was really below par, not for a hair on the mattress. The average person sheds between 50 to 100 hairs a day, unless those rooms are hermetically sealed after being cleaned by people in hazmat suits, they are going to find hairs.

I said that exact same thing to the OH yesterday evening!! I changed the bedding this morning and found not a single one - in fact, I never find any hairs and he sheds so much hair I have to get the pet attachment for the vac

I initially thought the accusations on here about production planting hair was a bit OTT, but now - I absolutely believe they must be doing it.


The one from last week came pretty close in terms of being undeserving.

The performance about her alleged cold scrambled egg even had her bestie giving her strange looks and didn't she bail completely one day - no doubt due to sheer embarrassment.

That her little hovel with shared bathroom facilities won, was an absolute travesty.

Over dinner, guest Marianne Cammack and Deina Thomas from dominate the conversation, riling up some of the others, while Mike Hayes and Neal Widdowson think the morning meal is all way too fancy.

Wednesday

The contestants travel to the White House in Brighton for the third day of the competition, where hosts Sean Edlin and Kathryn Turnbull run a laid-back seaside B&B. Denise and Jackie think the rooms are not well equipped and Marianne finds them clinical, while Mike and Neal are unsure about the price. Tensions are temporarily alleviated by a visit to the famous Theatre Royal, but Marianne and Deina continue to cause trouble at dinner. In the morning, a locally sourced breakfast impresses some of the guests, but the group must decide whether they are getting value for money.

Thursday

Wakes Hall Lodges near Colchester is the fourth and final visit of the week, where Neal and Mike are wowed by the five-star self-catering accommodation, complete with hot tubs and lakeside views. The others aren't so sure about the `luxury' breakfast hamper, however, especially as it means cooking their own. An afternoon of dog agility gives manager Marianne Cammack the chance to demonstrate her authority, although over dinner, her domineering conversation causes Jackie to finally snap.

Friday

The B&B owners meet for the last time to find out what they've been paid and to settle some scores. Mike and Neal from the Highlands Pub challenge the comments that they were considered dirty and lacking in facilities, while Sean and Kathryn from the White House are left smarting after suffering large underpayments for what they think are minor issues. Eventually, the winner is finally revealed.

The Highlands Pub in Blackpool states on their website that the hotel is "within walking distance" from the main Blackpool attractions. Nearly 2.3 miles is quite a walk. That's just to the Tower, if one wanted to go to Pleasure Beach you're looking at probably another 1/2 mile further. Minor point of course, just thought it possibly a bit of fudging on their part.
