Why did the bedroom door have a glass panel in it? That's a bit too exposing.

A lot of boutique places use glass bathroom doors for some reason. Probably to make everything look bigger.

Today's place - Blackpool blokes said no to staying again as payback. Marianne said no because she sees it as strong competition.

As for going on about the north and Blackpool as not as classy as Essex, don't they have a seaside place in Essex called Southend? And there's there's Clacton which doesn't sound too elegant or chic either.

Ms Brassy from Essex is a horror and is giving Essex ladies a bad name. I'm not from Essex but have lived here for 23 years and we're not all as classless as her and her mate. We don't all dress like Bet Lynch, we're not all thick and we don't all look down on Northerners!

As for today's place, I like it, yes it's pricey and it would have to be a very special treat for me to spend that much money on a night away but I like the hosts, the breakfast looked nice too.

Oh and I wore a shower cap on Sunday morning as I couldn't be arsed to to wash my hair in the shower 😀

Bet Lynch is just weird. How can she be that deluded? Or she's the biggest wum ever to appear on 4iaB...

-----------------------------------

Weird moment this afternoon: the weather's been 'variable' (atrocious) and one set of guests have been in since mid-afternoon. They'd got the tele on and I could hear the 4iaB music. Eeeek. At least it's their second night so if they go hair-hunting, any short and curlies will be their own.

Funny you should say that. With that animal print I was thinking Pat From EastEnders! Deluded, WUM or just thick?

Even her friend is making fun of her and she doesn't realise it.

But that looked like the bedroom door, not the bathroom one. They went out through it.

If Marianne is using herself as a yard stick for all that is classy and elegant then God help us.

I didn't really like last nights place, as for was it over priced, yes to me it was, but, I do agree with them, it is an expensive area so you 'price match' so to speak, although I do think they were asking the high end of the scale.

"Influential and upper class" sound like an oxymoron when said about Essex. Especially when said by Marianne.

I howled at this. Marianne has given me so many laughs this week. It's as if Katharine Tate had scripted her. Brilliant!

Totally deluded Bet Lynch lookalike competition winner!

But why is being classy etc such an issue for Marianne? Has she got a chip on her shoulder or summat?!

Wakes Lodge looks like an up-market trailer park. http://wakeslodges.co.uk/lodges-gallery/
What is the point in having a hot tub when you are cheek-by-jowl with the neighbouring lodge? The lack of privacy is a serious drawback for such a luxurious and expensive "B & B".

Looking at that website - it appears that Marianne is only a manager - the owners are called Nicholas and Claire.

Wonder what they will be thinking about her behaviour - and what it will do to their business?

I've had a quick look at B&Bs on Brighton seafront with good reviews and they are cheaper than The White House, with full breakfast and free wifi. I think they are overpriced.

What's the definition of privacy, though?

Lodges within sight of other lodges doesn't appeal to you - or me... I don't want anyone else wandering around my private lake - but to someone who lives in the middle of a housing estate in Reading (say) perhaps within shouting distance of the M4, those lodges are private - and isolated - enough for them. Some people like the idea of other people around, just not too close.

I think the planting that has been done so far - shrubs, small trees - between the lodges to give the impression of more privacy will probably be fine once they've had a few more years to grow.

As for Marianne: perhaps the owners are 'posh' or (what Marianne perceives as) 'posh' people come to stay and Marianne, for whatever reason (being an employee?) feels second-class around them. Hence her over-compensating. I always think that anyone who spins the "I am what I am, what you see is what you get..." line isn't entirely comfortable with themselves; otherwise, why would you feel the need to say it... because it's being defensive, isn't it?

Well I've never been to Brighton and I definitely won't be going in the future. Those prices are extortionate imo.
