Hi all been watching again this week and enjoying all the usual shenanigans.

As soon as I saw Bob I remembered him from come dine with me, he wore a lovely kilt but if I remember rightly his cooking wasn't much cop.

Does Kate's husband talk at all I've only ever seen him nod to agree with his wife? Kate is a joke with her demands for cotton wool balls, sanitary bin, cotton buds, cuddly toy, canteen of cutlery, sorry that's not her show. She seems to be such a miserly, nit picking woman i can't see what her husband sees in her unless she's good at baking maybe?

I hope Kate gets her come uppance tomorrow. I see Bob wanted to give back his money in the preview.

I have a nasty feeling she might win, she will underpay everyone by a lot.

I'm sure if this TV program came with a feed back form , the producers would get the idea that the viewers are not interested in the bloody activities
I always record it so I can skip them.

I really hope not. I know we say this every week, but just when we think there couldn't be a less deserved winner, along comes another. She just got massive butthurt from the feedback forms, especially Bob's and made it her mission to act like a child about it. Scoring 2's and 3's for not including cotton buds, shower cap, cotton balls, toothbrush holder and soapdish is utterly ridiculous. I guess by now most viewers will know that a 4iab winner plaque doesn't necessarily mean anything.

I don't where to begin with all the things I could say about the horrid Kate and her pathetic expectations, one thing sticks out though when she complains about all the things she expects everywhere, she doesn't even provide a bedside table! In the intro when that was on one of her feedback forms she says that she removed it and put a lamp in, instead, what use is that If like me you read in bed, I can't put my book & glasses on a lamp!!!

I would prefer it if they dropped it all together, had perhaps a 2 minute description of the local area instead, but spend a lot more time on the room inspection and a LOT more time on the breakfasts.

But what do I know? I am just a lowly viewer

Spot on. It's always been a pointless irrelevance.

What do you think of checking toilet brushes? I personally can't understand wanting to see it. Most of the time they're inside a canister and not visible. Are you planning on cleaning the toilet during your stay? Just seems so silly. If I ran a B&B I probably wouldn't leave them in the bathroom, I'd keep it with the cleaning supplies in a closet or something. Maybe it's just me.
Two things that give me the willies are bog brushes and flannels (shudder). Leave the Domestos somewhere discreet if your guests really feel the need to clean the loo during their stay (although I have been told that Coke works just as well).

I apologise if this has been raised before but do the contestants actually use their own money for the travelling costs to each establishment and paying what they think it is worth? - If they do i would assume this comes out of the fee received for participating.

Have they ever featured a property that permits smoking in it's rooms ? - indeed has anyone ever been seen smoking in the show indoors or outdoors?

Finally why does anyone ever stay at most of the places featured as a Premier Inn or Travelodge is often available at a cheaper price with much higher standards in a lot of cases.

As if Bob didn't grate on the nerves enough, his saying 'Kirstie' every time he says anything to her is beyond annoying.
Oh I so agree, that is driving me nuts.

Kate is a mean spirited individual isn't she, I dread to think what her payments will be as her scoring is so low.

I'm not sure it's legal now to smoke in rooms that are going to be used by others although it may well be at the owner's discretion.

Why would everyone want to stay in a branded and soulless hotel? I have stayed in some amazing B&Bs over the years with lovely owners, who give a personal ervice and characterful rooms. I much prefer that over something corporate. And so do many other people.

Totally agree. Her expectations of others, when there are such glaring faults with her own place, are delusional. The bedside table would be a real niggle with me - especially when there is room for one. Why put a floor lamp there instead? What I would prefer, and I would put money on being in the majority on this, is a bedside table of some sort, with a bedside lamp on it. As you say Japara, somewhere to put your book, glasses, alarm clock etc.

But for me, the REALLY huge issue was the couple who had to use a low power point to put the kettle on. A kettle on the floor????????? What if someone tripped over the cord when it had just boiled? I think H&S would have something to say about it.

The dingbats are out! I see from Trip Advisor Kate & Carlos have a one star review posted this week, slating them for all the sorts of things mentioned on here.

The thing is, if you look at the profile of the person who has posted it, he has given 12 one star reviews, predominantly to places that have appeared on 4 in a Bed. What a coincidence he has stayed in so many of the same places.

Apparently the money is re-reimbursed by the production team. They also lay on the travel, meals and the overnight stay between B&Bs as it actually takes near two weeks to film one week of fiab. I don't think there is an appearance fee, though a half hour showcase of your business on C4 should be very valuable - not that many of them realise that given how they behave...

Kate demanded lots of extras in the rooms wherever she stayed. I can't remember but did she supply them in her own B&B?

I was wondering that, but just can't remember. Thing is, the lack of a bedside table and a convenient safe place to make tea or coffee seem a lot more important than cotton buds.

I'd go for the hotel, on the whole, because I prefer to be left alone, and to know what I'm getting. Characterful rooms can be truly dreadful, judging from what we have seen on 4iaB! I did stay in a very nice B&B in the Lakes where guests had use of a lounge which I appreciated, and we had a lovely breakfast, sitting overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake, but hate the idea of staying in a themed room, or one stuffed full of knick-knacks and teddy bears.

When I said 'personal service' I didn't mean that the owners didn't leave you alone. I just meant that it was a more 'personal' service than staying in a corporate hotel.

Also, the 'characterful' rooms were intended to convey rooms within beautiful buildings with beautiful bedding and furniture rather than the 'everyday' Ikea type cheap'n'cheerful stuff you see in these other hotels. I didn't mean rooms filled with nick-knacks or whatever. I don't think I've ever stayed in a B&B like that. And I have stayed in some quite gorgeous B&Bs. They're easy enough to find on the net.

I've also stayed in some beautiful places (B&Bs) abroad - New Zealand springs to mind. They were utterly amazing - especially for the price - amidst utterly gorgeous scenery and the owners were fab. One of them - because the rooms were a little colder than usual - switched on the electric blankets on our beds whilst we were out at a restaurant so they were lovely and toasty to come back to.

The first one we stayed in (after a 36 hour flight) had left us cake and things (freshly baked) and other food so we could eat when we woke up after crashing when we got there.

Customer service par excellence. But we never saw them unless we had to. They were all like invisible good fairies!
