You do highlight a facet of 4iaB that I find 'interesting': the number of owners who appear to be capable of running a successful small business (in the main
) but they have no grasp at all of the difference that some or all of the following can have on pricing and value:- location (pub in Blackpool vs country house in small, best kept village) - the building itself (semi- on a housing estate vs quiet town house in a spa town, say) - the quality of the fixtures and fittings: chairs, dressing tables, mirrors - or no bedside table but a lamp - the extras... robes, slippers, shampoo, conditioner, cake or biscuits, instant coffee vs a Nespresso (say), types of tea and infusions, fridges in rooms (which some people hate because they most make a noise) provision of a guest sitting room, tvs, etc. Kate (accompanied by The List if nothing else) came over as somewhat spiteful, vengeful and, overall, not very bright. Just because she supplies something (clock radio ) doesn't mean it adds value to the package. Not a very good week. But I wonder if a lot of good quality owners don't apply any more because they have (finally) caught on to the fact that there's no such thing as a free lunch and you have to be very smart to outwit the desire of the producers to create what they define as good telly. Do such people actually give a thought as to how shallow they will come across to the public?

I remember them. Woman and daughter. They won.
And the daughter's name was Yannika! http://www.channel4.com/programmes/f...mand/55221-038 Episode 36 onwards.

Many thanks for that ewoodie, of course YANNIKA, how could I forget? must have heard that name a hundred times over the course of the week. The link with the photograph was great and brought it all back. You've saved me from a sleepless night trying to remember them thanks again

No more 4IAB for now but this might be of interest - To B&B the Best - Channel 5 - 11:15am tomorrow.
http://www.radiotimes.com/tv-program...es-1-episode-1 Monday Guest-house maven Lisa Holloway fronts a new series that taps into our growing desire to monetise property without moving. More and more of us are starting a bed and breakfast business that merely entails letting punters sleep in the spare room: Holloway, who’s a bit posh and bossy and could conceivably be Kirstie Allsopp’s distant aunt, bursts into a first-timer’s house to oversee the necessary makeover. Today it’s perky retiree Roger, in Sompting, West Sussex. It’s jolly, but Holloway’s still finding her role and there are dead patches that make you realise why many shows like this introduce a competitive element. SUMMARY Lisa Holloway tours the UK to meet and advise novice landlords and landladies as they set out to turn their homes into B&Bs, beginning in Sompting, West Sussex. Tuesday Lisa Holloway visits Leyton, east London, where she hopes to help Audrey and daughter Rhiannon transform their homespun venture into a profit-making business. Wednesday Lisa Holloway heads to Bedfordshire to meet Phil, who is due to retire, and his wife Linda, who wants to fulfil her long-held dream of running a B&B. Thursday Lisa Holloway comes to the assistance of Irene and Kishan, who want to turn their four-bedroom Victorian terrace in Newport, Gwent, into a retreat with a holistic twist. Friday Lisa Holloway inspects a two-bed tower block flat whose owner is keen to rent out to raise funds for a holiday, suggesting ways to tempt in potential lodgers. |

According to my TV guide, 3 in a bed is only on today - Channel 4 has horse racing on (Ascot I think) the rest of the week
