- location (pub in Blackpool vs country house in small, best kept village)
- the building itself (semi- on a housing estate vs quiet town house in a spa town, say)
- the quality of the fixtures and fittings: chairs, dressing tables, mirrors - or no bedside table but a lamp
- the extras... robes, slippers, shampoo, conditioner, cake or biscuits, instant coffee vs a Nespresso (say), types of tea and infusions, fridges in rooms (which some people hate because they most make a noise) provision of a guest sitting room, tvs, etc.
Kate (accompanied by The List if nothing else) came over as somewhat spiteful, vengeful and, overall, not very bright. Just because she supplies something (clock radio
) doesn't mean it adds value to the package.
Not a very good week. But I wonder if a lot of good quality owners don't apply any more because they have (finally) caught on to the fact that there's no such thing as a free lunch and you have to be very smart to outwit the desire of the producers to create what they define as good telly.”

Yes, mostly likely. And couple that with the fact that when a few contestants come along who are nice people, who want nothing more than to provide their guests with good accommodation and great hosting at a fair price are blown out of the water by the couple who run a £50(ish) per night B&B who just won't cough up, usually giving the ridiculous excuse that "we would never spend that kind of money" (and this after they have given marks of 8, 9 or 10 on the feedback form)
Do such people actually give a thought as to how shallow they will come across to the public?
