TBH it's £45, it's basic but good. It's not a holiday place it's an overnight stay place and they know their customer base really well unlike other B&B's on the show.

If this isn't a prime example of the final question being wrong, I don't know what is. If it said (as we have all said many times before) "If you were the target market, would you stay here again" they may well have got 3 yes answers.

Personally I wouldn't stay there, but I can see that they cater briliantly to their target market, and who on earth can complain about £45?

If anybody pays less than £45 for today's place they ought to be ashamed of themselves in my opinion

Cheap as chips, perfect for their target market. They've got great business sense and they are right to stick with budget furnishings that can be replaced regularly.
The breakfast looked fab, more than good enough.
I can't see how anyone could underpay them, but I expect somebody will.

Back to repeats next week, and it's the week of the Birmingham nudist B&B complete with hot tub in the garden. *shudder* Creepy owner, I thought

I have nothing against budget B&B's but I don't think they belong on this show, or at least they should be competing against similar venues. The whole idea that you can't really knock down an already bottom of the barrel priced place gives them an unfair advantage, imo.

Why would a man pluck his eyebrows like that. He looks really daft.
He looks permanently surprised
OMG this place isn't hard to miss.
LOL
I wonder what their elcy bill is like.
Thought the same.........very eco friendly....not
He looks like a drag act on the side with those eyebrows.
Peculiar aren"t they
Do you think people will know it's Italian.
Not really too noticeable is it...LOL

I agree. It is like yurts being up against hotels. No comparison, and they don't belong on the same show. Neither do £50 Blackpool B&Bs with £200 country house hotels..

I have nothing against budget places either. They are just not my cup of tea. I would rather have 3 days in somewhere with a bit of luxury than a week in a budget place, but that's just me. They certainly have their place in the market, and done well they are excellent for their target market.

If I had been on this show, I would certainly pay at least the full amount (£45 for heavens sake!) but say no to staying again.

There's definitely a place for the lower end B&B's. For example if I had young children and wanted to go to the seaside, I'd go for the budget place because the luxury would be wasted on such youngsters and we wouldn't be spending much time in the room, being out and about at the beach, etc. If I were going away with just my husband, I'd want something nicer.

Something else that bothers me about some budget B&B owners is they pay their fellow competitors based on what they charge for their own place. The "well I'd never pay more than £55 a night" logic makes it seem like they don't get the concept of the show.

And... It was pretty cheeky of the Italian guys to mark the first B&B down for a dirty shower drain/trap when their own was far worse.

The Italian guys should be paid in full by everyone, at £45 for a double room, ensuite bathrooms and two full English breakfasts really to knock money off would be cruel.

But, would I stay there? No, but as they readily admitted, their customer base is contractors, not business people, or those who want a weekend away,

How can you make a fair comparision between last nights place and the one the night before, you can't.

It was unfortunate that the guys took umbridge at no-one coming back. They clearly know their target market and they know none of the others fell into that category so shouldn't expect them to return.

I suppose they thought that as the first place charged nearly three times what they did that it should be super clean.

Perhaps, but cleanliness is a basic, not an extra. I would expect a toilet to be just as clean in a £50 a night room as one charging £150 a night. I can't see a business lasting long if they're skimping on cleanliness.

Cannot disagree but the essence of the programme is the find the best value for money B&B, if [and only if] those participating would play nicely then we would get a good show with the right person winning, sadly that philosophy went out of the window around about Episode 3 of Series 1. It was always a show where cheats would always prosper, happily the true "winners" are there for all of us to see

On the other hand, a small reduction in payment is bigger in percentage terms, so taking £5 off a £45 per room place will have a significant effect.

You really would have to be as picky as hell to knock money off at that place, which means somebody probably will - I bet it will be tempting for some to pay £40 instead of £45. At the same time I can understand the three no votes: you can acknowledge it's good value without wanting to go back, so I can't see why those two got so narked about it. It looked like the seventh circle of hell to me, but then I am a quiet type!

True. I wouldn't seek out a place like that either purely for the late night noise aspect. I'm usually in bed by 10 so having to listen to George Michael til 2 would annoy me to no end.

One thing that struck me about the first place was them taking so much offence about being scored 7 and 8!

Just catching up, the place reminds me of the bar in Ashes to Ashes, tacky to the extreme, the rooms are basic, OK for the price but I would expect a clean sink and toilet.

The brekkie looked ok, basic fayre that is perfect for their market.

She seems the type to have a great attention to detail and would consider her place to be nothing but a 10. To be fair it was pretty nice.

Of course. I was merely suggesting a reason why she might be insulted with 7's and 8's on the feedback forms.

You would think they would have redecorated the dining room and got rid of that awful carpet. .
