I absolutely adore cats. BUT would I want someone elses cat round the breakfast table when I am paying to stay there? A big, fat, resounding NO!!!!!! It was all very well for the "lady of the house" to say it is on their web site, but the rooms where guests eat and sleep should definitely be out of bounds for animals.
I found it really odd that there were their own clothes in a guest wardrobe, and the excuse was the house isn't big enough for them to be stored elsewhere. Don't they realise people are paying for the room, so it shouldn't have their personal clothing in there at all. If they need the space so badly, then don't let the room. End of! As for the shared bathroom and pre ordered breakfast - well it has all been said before. Weird woman who can't be wrong. Shock coming at the end of the week I think. Does she remind anyone else of Prue Leith to look at? I wouldn't want to stay in their house, too personal for me. All those personal items & clothes would make me feel quite uncomfortable. I have stayed in b&bs that are private homes, who just let out a room or two during the Summer season, but they there were no personal nik naks around. I wasn't going to bother watching anymore, but force of habit and all that........... Quote:
Personally I'd have loved a cat to be mooching around at breakfast time. I would have fed it tit bits from the table.

What on earth has happened to Meg and Andy to make them so miserable? They appear to expect their guests to be so thrilled with their home that they overlook the personal "objects d'art" which litter the place and the clothes and linen in the cupboards and wardrobes. They awarded themselves first prize in the "fun" competition they arranged during the visit to their home. Then Meg pointed out the errors in Colin's breakfast menu as if she was correcting a pupil's homework but later said "..not the sort of place that I would feel particularly comfortable FOR BEING AT". Oh dear.
She taught cooking and he was a PE teacher - they're not high-achieving academics for heaven's sake and they don't live in a stately home! Couldn't understand Michelle and Colin being upset that the comments about cleanliness were "tit for tat". Of course it's tit for tat, and they set the standard. |

She taught cooking ![]() There's a real place for and a charm about private, traditional B&Bs but they have to compete with the large chains who offer bargain accommodation and this couple haven't realized that. Times have moved on since the early 70s and people expect a level of professionalism in return for their £. Tying cupboard doors shut and presenting rooms so the guest feels like they're intruding really isn't on. Meg's facial expressions and superior attitude are giving me the rage this week and I'm only casting half an eye over the programme ![]() The show seems to be made up of people who live in glass houses. Last week's winners' place didn't particularly appeal to me but their ethos did and it was very refreshing. |

The tasks seem to have become even worse than normal. Looks like the budget for them's been cut and the host establishment has to lay on anything that doesn't cost more than a tenner, keeping it in-house if possible.

Did I hear Meg say something about the room not being fit for paying customers? Do you think she might actually have the front to give them an empty envelope? I'm really looking forward to Friday

He did remind me rather of Micheal, the Geordie handyman at The Linton Travel Tavern, much frequented by Norwich Radio's own Alan Partridge.
![]() Thank you. It's been driving me nuts trying to remember this! My mother was from Co. Durham but I find his speech so fast ... I even wondered if he had hearing problems, which can sometimes result in this kind of speech pattern. |

I agree that was ridiculous, but the comment went on to say (I paused and read it) that the man had also sworn a lot, something I don't think we've heard, but it's a valid point if correct.

Her husband is just as bad.
When I saw the crocheted mats on the dressing tables, locked wardrobe doors in one of the guest's rooms, their clothes in another wardrobes because they hadn't got room in their own bedroom for their clothes, shared bathroom, her awful breakfast (she had been a home economics teacher) and then she decided that they had won the competition - what a hoot. |

Can't say I've any time for the tedious teachers, but I do wonder why posters seem to think a home economics teacher should be some sort of expert cook? When I was at school, home economics was a separate subject - with different teachers, to cookery.

Very fancy place. Maybe they should have waited until the building work was finished.

£148 a night is very expensive. I would expect perfection for that price.
