BIB. Totally agree. As soon as she said about the roadworks, I remarked to the OH that it was hardly likely to be going on all night! Roadworks and building works are a fact of life.

I'd rather my eggs done in the poacher than have a vinegary egg done in the pan
Too often I've had eggs that, to me, were almost inedible through vinegar. Just use fresh eggs then you dont need vinegar nor a poacher!

Re the 'stains' - yes I could see them and I haven't come across washing powder doing that. But to sleep on towels rather than simply get them exchanged is passive-aggression matching last weeks numpties with the short mattress!

But surely poaching is by definition something that is cooked in simmering liquid.

I have definitely had detergent stains left on bed linen. Probably when I have had too much in the machine, and detergent has got caught up in the folds.

Totally agree about the couple from last week, and now the woman this week being complete numpties.

Such a fuss over a few stains that looked typical of detergent/conditioner stains to me (I have a set of dove grey sheets a bit like that, and I've had that issue when I've put too much conditioner in with the wash). It would have been obvious that the sheets were indeed clean though, so why on earth was she behaving like that. She looked like she was going to cry when she saw them, and then sleeping on towels! Get a grip!

Game-player or just a sad drip of a woman?

Game player I think! There has to be an advantage in being the first property of the week - as long as the place is of a reasonable standard of course. Be nice to everyone, get reasonable marks and payment, then slate stupid little things everywhere else.

I thought the china cup and saucer was downright rude! The owner handled it very well. I had an aunt who liked to drink out of a china cup. The family knew that and always made sure she had her tea in a china cup when she visited. BUT - she never took her own anywhere, and never complained in a restaurant or cafe if she was given pottery.

Some people always try and cause maximum fuss over an issue that can be resolved. Resolve it there and then and they can't withhold a bigger portion of the payment.

As to the poached eggs. Grrrrrrrrrr. I have said before on here how much I hate those poachers, and other people have agreed 100%. So we are far from alone.”

I could see some patches of a creamy colour, so it could be powder or conditioner.

I've never use those poachers. There's no need for them!

No need to add vinegar. Just break eggs into gently simmering water.

Sad drip? She's not a drip. She's probably a bit of a bitch. Anyway the woman wouldn't sleep on the sheets, nor would she ask for them to be replaced. No, she'd rather sleep on towels. Super soft or not, towels have a texture that would make them uncomfortable to sleep on.

How come she only noticed at bedtime? Don't they inspect the rooms on arrival?

Yesterday's couple seem to be the only nice people in the comp. The other two couples seem to be having a bitch-fest under the guise of banter and Audrey is another Mrs Tee in the making!

I'm surprised the amount of controversy the cup has produced on here! If she genuinely believes tea is best out of a bone china cup (and she's not alone in that) why would it be rude to pitch up with your own? Its not like Alan Partridge's "Big Plate" after all

The hosts may have their own bone china cups. I doubt any B&B would serve tea in a builders mug like she said.

I have some bone china mugs that I always drink tea from at home - there is a definite difference in the flavour - but I have never and would never whip it out in a cafe/restaurant/b&b or at a friend's house. It's bad etiquette. And a bit ridiculous.

Bit of a drip, yes. She looked genuinely horrified by the stains. What did she think she was going to catch from them? Cooties?

It looks very nice now with the lights on the trees. Shame it wasn't finished before they were featured on FIAB.

I agree about the game player. Why didnt she simply ask for a porcelain/bone china cup for her tea. The proprietors run a cafe specialising in teas and cakes so I am sure they could have offered her a china cup. Its all done to show off isnt it......

She probably genuinely wasn't upset - bringing your own cup and saucer might have been a silly thing to do on tv because you're sure to come over as precious and / or pretentious but guests bringing 'stuff' happens surprisingly often. You don't take it personally because it's not personal - guests are usually reacting to bad experiences they've had elsewhere or just travelling with their version of Linus' blanket - they're not intent on insulting the host.

I've never had anyone turning up at breakfast with their own crockery but people regularly bring their own pillows, their own hand towels (for their pillow as they know that their spot / acne / sun cream stains pillowcases) their own favoured breakfast cereal... one couple even smuggled in a tiny 2 ring camping gas cooker... as they were addicted to baked beans and wanted to cook their own each evening. Yeah, go figure...

Happily, they had a room with an exterior terrace and the weather was good so they cooked out there - doing their washing up in their en suite. If they'd been cooking in the room I'd have had to have stern words but the weather stayed fine.

It's just what some people do to feel comfortable and if you're running a business, .you accommodate harmless behaviours.

Those two are precious and pretentious. Crying over a bed sheet? Sleeping on towels? Taking a cup and saucer everywhere?

As for the cooking; did you check your insurance? Surely cooking in the room is not covered. Cooking on a terrace? Is it wooden? Would that be covered?

The Lilly Pad women are a couple of holy horrors imo, and I might have got this totally wrong, but I thought the dark haired one was the owner?

If so, why is the gobby blonde one doing all the talking and decision making, noticed it particularly when they were reading their feedback.

The sheet thing was an absolute nonsense, I have some maroon colour sheets and I've had those stains, it's soap powder nothing more.

I don't mind the couple from Kent tbh, I don't think what he says is malicious it's just banter, maybe because I am from Kent and it seems normal to me. However the Lilly Pad women do love to be outraged don't they!

And as for the comment about cold legs from Audrey, oh good grief women get a life.

I just had to rewatch it, as it was making me so angry lol...... There were hardly any stains on the sheet, it is a grey sheet, and like a lot of us have said it was just detergent stain. Its hardly noticeable... You see her with towel under her head and she slept in the towelling robe, and you can see a bit of towel under her, BUT BELIEVE me anyone sleeping on a towel, it would not be all tidy in the morning. I have had to sleep on towels occasionally because of a few health issues, and they always end up rucked up or half out of the bed.

NOT only that we dont actually see her ASLEEP on the towels, she is wide awake looks pretty tidy for someone who has just had a bad nights sleep.

Its so edited.

It is a shame because it looks lovely in the 'after' photos

My comments on sheet-gate go along with everyone else's really.
Did anyone else see one of the women sniffing one of the cushions during the room inspection? I thought that was a bit of an odd thing to do.

Being pedantic as well, the use of the word 'stains' I've seen marks on coloured bedlinen before, as others have said, either washing powder/conditioner or water marks from an iron if the steam setting hasn't been right. I've never said 'stained' though because that implies dirty. I've used the word 'marked'
Like I said, pedantic maybe, but the word stained is definitely implying shoddy standards and uncleanly - something I very much doubt Liz and Scott would be caught out on ... unlike on the first night when the point about the spider in the wardrobe is that it looked dead in the web and should've been cleaned away during the room check.

Evening all.
