I thought all that 'secret chef' business was all a storm in a teacup, at the end of the day - what difference did it make? Charlotte accused him of lying - did he ever actually say 'I am not a chef'?
I can't help thinking that Production stick their oar in far too much - i bet they put Charlotte up to complaining all week and then dramatically over paying, just to create a bit of drama. Well it certainly needs it - it is all a bit old hat now, but then I think that about a lot of old favourites nowadays.

I agree but I didn't like Steven, I thought he was nasty but that's just me. I do think he was a deserved winner though. I thought Charlottle and Lucy were the nicest out of the lot.

I think she'd create over any underpayment at all, but I think everyone on this thread thinks she's way overcharging for what she offers?

And me - smoked streaky please!”

Yay!! Unsmoked streaky for me though

Nothing at all, I'd say.

But the overpayments were bizarre, and rather suspicious. Very strange...

I wouldn't have said there was anything nasty about him either but I'm glad he won as his place was lovely...

So were the underpayments, £45, now that was nasty.

I think the two women and the green bus people were hoist by their own petards. They paid according to what they would charge, just as the other two contestants paid according to what they would charge. Thus the winners were the reasonably-priced. The Pheasant which was a very nice small hotel and the couple with the clean, simple house and terrific food. Result!

The first visit of the week is to the Bridge Hotel in Scunthorpe, where new owners Martin and Hannah Weaver try to impress at breakfast by introducing their guest to their pet pig.

Thanks for the links ewoodie. The Crown at Whitchurch seems to be closed down already. First place looks terrible. So dated.

The Crown may've just closed for the winter - my barber used to run a place in the Wye valley - apparently it is very busy in season, dead out of it.

You would think they would just say, closed for the winter instead of until further notice. Makes it sound worse.

Two of the rooms at the Seashells have their showers separate located next door in the corridor, I'm not sure if they're two showers or a shared one. Also it states on their website that they are 'newly renorvated' so I wonder if that was before or after filming?

From their website;
"Price includes a buffet breakfast. This consists of unlimited tea, coffee and fruit juice. Help your self to cooked breakfast, toast, jam, marmalade, a large variety of cereals, fruit and lots more available by ordering via kitchen hatch (for example: poached/boiled/scrambled eggs, porridge, etc..)
Seashells require a deposit when reserving rooms, you can do this by card over the phone or cash. (it is not essential that rooms are booked in advance but not guaranteed that rooms would be available).
Part of our policy at Seashells is that any guests staying must pay remainder on arrival and showing ID proving name and home address."

That'll be a different spin on payment day then!

The first place just looks awful and sounds like it is too from the reveiws. It has had many different managers recently. From TA "Booked a function room earlier in the year. A few weeks before the event I found out that managers Hannah & Martin had done a runner".

Google The Crown. On the right-hand side of the page there's info and it says permanently closed. However, there's a link which says:

Quote:
“The Crown at Whitchurch (Open again soon) is recorded closed at this location. If it's incorrectly closed, please report it.”

and

Quote:
“The Crown at Whitchurch (Open again soon)”

Make of that whatever you will! a revamp?
