I just looked for a two night stay at the Admiral Hotel for a random time next March. Normal rate quoted £171.50 with breakfast for 2 nights. So £85.75 per night!

Is it not ridiculous to have premises charging £50 and (in theory) £300 + in the same competition ?

I think it's fine so long as both premises represent good value for money, for £350 I would expect silver service, room service, a free spa and pool etc, and for 50 I would expect basic clean accommodation.

Interesting.
Isn't it weird he chooses to "showcase" his establishment by sending out information to the several hundred thousand people that may be watching that his rooms cost nearly four times as much as the actually do. Is this some kind of reverse unique selling point ..

Yes, in theory it shouldn't matter what the tariff is as the marks are on a percentage of what is paid.
In practice though its very difficult to get someone to pay top dollar if, like me, they just don't appreciate the high end luxury product.
Its also easy for a £50 place to exceed expectations and a £10 over payment is actually a 20% boost to the marks. To gain the same boost last nights would need a £60+ overpayment!

Of course last night's place wasn't even luxury

If his rooms are at all that expensive or ever were, they only survived because he said it in the show "supply and demand". I would bet he has so many bookings from tourists, who arrive in London in the busy periods when every other room is booked and The Admiral then has them right over a barrel with £350 rooms.

I mean the place was so dated it was like the 60s or 70s in the rooms. For the price I'd be expecting the Ritz.

Just looked and their 'Average' price per night in a Superior Queen room, which bears absolutely no relation to tonight's place is £350. They also have a weekend break for two nights at £320 per night including breakfast in their Michelin starred restaurant and a 2pm check out time.

Where would you rather be? hmmmm let me think.”

TBF I think I'm not his type! + It would have to be sealed bottles of champagne...

I've actually stayed in a hotel just a few doors from his, with rather nicer rooms and decor. I didn't pay myself as it was for work, but the company won't pay more than £120 for B&B in London. This was at short notice too.

I've never had a problem finding a B&B within the £120 maximum, in some nice places too - though if you can't get in a nice one at short notice the Travelodge Covent Garden always has rooms!

I wasn't very well yesterday and thought I was hallucinating the prices of the rooms at first!!

Very surprised that two would return- I was expecting it to be a trio of no's!

She did look a bit annoyed at her. Don't know why they got 9's for breakfast if everyone said they loved it.

You've obviously got the inside goss then Hoppy, from your connections
What more can you tell? although I'd imagine whatever you can tell would go along with the opinion most of us have formed from the edited highlights.

Nice lady I thought tonight, with a good place.

As we were watching the feedback, before her bit, I said that when she read about the 'coffee corner' being dark, that she'd say that'll be attended to then and sure enough, that's exactly what she did.

Tonight's place looked lovely, beautifully decorated and fantastic breakfast, just up my street. I missed the biscuit incident but I trust Chris and Krystelle.

Are yesterday's pair a couple? Also are the blonde and Indian guy a couple?

What relation had the cake making to do with Blackpool?

Also felt it was rude on the snippet we saw of the Indian guy saying to Chris if they would keep their place in the 70s.

I'm in the minority but I love Chris and Krystelle and tonight's hosts and the other two couples I find irritating.

Hi SS, it has been a while since I have seen one of these I am bothered about. Having watched how this has played out the Blackpool owner has done exactly what I think would be regarded as doing the sensible and decent thing.

It just happens she is my OHs hairdressers mum, they shut down for the Winter and Daria is on a retainer and Trip advisor says they are a sound business.

I wouldn't give anything away but the outcome seems fair to me and it did feature some "different" characters.

I've got to be honest Stef, I can't remember ever staying anywhere where the hospitality tray didn't have biscuits.

Yo Ho Ho Hoppy - Resident Thread Pirate

He really reminded me of Danny Lambo, although Danny redeemed himself with a pleasant nature on 4 in a Bed. His hotel was a disaster though and the breakfasts were cold as they came from next door - TA reviews of this place seem to suggest a similar arrangement?

The stupid playing of pool and the pricing debacle has tried my patience.”

And https://cdn1.lockerdome.com/uploads/...9e1ac876_large

All these people had/have a very high opinion of their places and themselves!

That sounds rather interesting. I love a good ginger nut.

So far this week - the bloke from Monday's place seems nice but a bit of an idiot. The women who is with her boss seems to be a miserable cow who is looking for things to be offended by.
