That self catering unit is lovely.

Vegetarians shouldn't be a problem for anyone!
In a small concern like theirs they probably ask about dietary preferences when they accept bookings, but this time it wasn't even mentioned when they checked in - deliberately of course for best dramatic effect. I'm mulling over whether I'd stay there, because I don't know about you, but if I can't do a bit of ironing whenever it instantly takes my fancy, even in the middle of the night, then staying away from home is just ruined for me, ruined I say

Mixed bunch tonight's lot. The owners and their place looked really lovely and fantastic garden too. How can it be too homely? I've already gone off the blonde with wavy hair and as soon as she stepped in the room she pulled a face and then every criticism seem based on the fact it was "homely".
Surely if the couple in the self contained unit felt isolated they could have asked to have breakfast with the others? Also they complained about the temperature when they could have turned down the radiators or asked the owners to turn the temperature down. |

Yes but they just need any excuse to moan on this show and underpay. They probably need aircon throughout the whole self catering place if it's that hot.

It seems more and more people go out of their way to complain rather than trying to get something sorted by asking the hosts. What's the point of when at the start of each episode the owners say "any problems give us a shout" only for nothing to be done apart from secret moans and written criticisms. I don't get it.

And they were all sat down and eating at the time it came up. Was it really never mentioned previously when they were ordering their evening meal? What a vile load of people apart from today's hosts.

Kevin was a mobile phone salesman and knows nothing about hotels. Go figure.

I wouldn't want to stay in someone's house where their possessions 'intruded' upon where I have to sleep, eg stuffed toys on the bed and nick-nacks on every surface. However, with today's couple, yes it was 'homely' but tastefully decked-out and blimey what a home?
![]() A beautiful house in glorious surroundings and a bedroom full of books. I would have loved it and they seemed like a really nice couple - such a shame they're on in a week with a load of ungrateful, game-playing arseholes ![]() I really felt for her when she had a little cry ![]() Regardless of where they're placed on Friday, I bet they're going to get loads of bookings anyway - they deserve to

As I've said before, owners should 'road test' their rooms so issues like this don't rely on guests reporting them. |

The self catering couple must feel isolated.
The couple in the self catering must have felt like Billy No Mates, and they also lost an opportunity to guage their competitors. The owners also lost that opportunity. Why couldn't they have used the holiday let to showcase how lovely it is on national TV, explain it is usually self catering, but have the couple over to breakfast with the others? All probably down to the production team of course! |

With insulation being a big thing now a lot of modern housing and conversions have gone overboard, so they are toasty in winter, but unbearably hot in summer. The problem was compounded by his room being up in the attic (I think!).
![]() Heavily insulated houses do work efficiently year round whether it's keeping heated air in (winter) or hot air out in summer. We've got well over the recommended daily dose of insulation and keeping the rooms cool in summer just means using shutters and pale curtains / blinds to deflect the sun. Our sitting room is south-facing, the temperature outside in July and August can reach 40°C but, providing we don't leave doors and shutters open in the hottest hours of the day, the interior remains cool. We do also have big ceiling fans in all the bedrooms which can't reduce the temperature but at least they provide a cool breeze - and they need one in that loft room. I think the owners did well to promote their b&b business but also their s/c cottage and they came over as very pleasant, genuine people. They may not win but as hosts, only their behaviour over the rest of the week can affect them negatively. On the French version of 4iaB last night, the activity was a boat trip from St-Malo in Brittany down the river Rance estuary passing one of France's most beautiful villages - Saint-Suliac on the east bank of the river. About 5 minutes of gorgeous scenery with the host describing the area and some of its history. Whereas on 4iaB...

Just for once I would be happy to see the first couple on say "Bring it on!" but they won't, they're too nice.
