BIB. So it is a dog friendly hotel - but not everyone likes dogs. We have friends who have a very well behaned dog, and we go away with them and their dog to "dog friendly" hotels. Without exception, they are hotels that have certain bedrooms that people can have dogs in, but other bedrooms are dog free. In some of the places they allow the dog in the bar - but never, ever into the restaurant or other eating areas. It is a question of balance, and having a dog around the table is simply not acceptable. And I say that as a huge dog lover!

I agree with you. Two of the couples weren't keen on the dog being near the food especially when Kevin was feeding it bits of sausage. In the past when owners have had animals it's always been a bone of contention (pardon the pun) allowing the animals in areas where food was being eaten. Remember the cat lady who had loads of cat hair in her breakfasts?

I think in your own home you can do what you like but when you're in a business customers must come first.

Saying all this I do allow our cat to eat bits from the table occasionally and I remember our ex neighbour used to let his dog eat off his plate and then he'd tuck in too!

Exactly! We used to have cats (no more, there are only so many times you can have your heart broken) and fed them tit bits from our plates. But that was in our own home, with only us to consider. If we had friends for a meal, the cats were kept out of the dining room.

I seriously believe that anmals should not be allowed in public eating areas in commercial premises. People have genuine allergies, hairs to be considered, etc etc.

As I said, I LOVE pets of all sorts, but do I want other people's pets around me when I am a paying guest? NO!

Well we keep complaining that the prog is now rather old hat, so I think Production is looking for oddball characters to 'liven' up the show. :-/ (and give us some thing to talk about)

I would have no problem with a Dog scrounging things from the table - would prefer a Cat though

Oh, I am sorry about your cats. I've wanted a pet since I was little and love my cat to bits ( only one I've had) I don't know how I'd cope without him. I would also love a dog but I'm pushing it having a cat as my hub is terrified of all animals!

Of course you're right animals shouldn't be allowed in public eating areas but saying that I've seen the state of some restaurants and fast food places and their kitchens are in a horrendous state!

One of the girls said "I wonder if she crept in" or something which indicated that the dog should not have been in that room, and as she was so quiet it is possible that they didn't notice her as they were concentrating (for waaaay too long as it turned out) on preparing and presenting breakfast. Was the dog coaxed into the room perhaps in order to cause trouble?

At any event, I have definitely noted this hotel to recommend to my dog-owning friends who are always complaining about being able to find good, reasonably-priced places in lovely areas where they can take their dog.

If that was so you would not book a place that is pet friendly.

Had that nasty little worm not called the dog over it would not have eaten near the table.

To me it looked a well trained dog as it was not bothered by people eating.
