I find it very ironic the couple won who nobody wanted to go back to. Did they give reasons for not returning?

Kevin was a total piece of work but when others underpaid that was fine but not when Kevin underpaid.
Also I didn't think it funny the blonde blaming Jed for his eggs being overlooked. They got their revenge as they did underpay £10 for said breakfast. Thank goodness the nice couple won, |

Kevin has just had a couple of bad reviews on Tripadvisor this week and one of them mentions 4IAB. Serves him right.

![]() ![]() EDIT: Found them - here they are for those who aren't registered on TA: “Disappointing in the extreme... ” Reviewed yesterday NEWvia mobile Expectations were reasonably high due to the website which showed a warm, inviting, place to stay with immaculate gardens, onsite restaurant/bar and free WiFi and that's pretty much where it stopped - at the website. On approach the hotel looked more dated and the surrounding grounds less well kept than the website would lead you to believe... Believing that first appearances can be deceptive we reserved judgement only to find after parking that we couldn't get into the place - the door was locked! There was a note to call a number for access, which was fine, I guess, as we did arrive at siesta time and only had to wait 20 minutes before a lovely lady arrived to check us in... We forgave the wait as the lady was sincerely apologetic and helpful... While checking in we asked to book an evening meal only to be told that restaurant facilities were currently not available and we would be better off trying one of the local pubs... Slightly disappointed we decided it would just add to our familiarisation of the area... Anyway we continued to our room which was not in the main building but in what I can only describe as an annexe from a bygone age... My disappointment must have shown as we received another apology that we had been put in one of their older rooms due to a larger party staying. Our room looked nothing like any of the rooms displayed on the website! And we were being charged full whack!?! Tired decor, ill fitted fixtures, scuffs all over the place and the most depressing excuse for a bathroom I have ever had the misfortune to see let alone be expected to use... We decided to look for a place to eat asap. After a brilliant meal at the Red Lion, Hinxton ( you should try it - seriously!), we asked to see their rooms... Big mistake! Huge! Their accommodation and customer service put Duxford Lodge to shame If they hadn't been full I would have checked in there and then! ![]() Disheartened, we dragged our feet back to the Lodge. We couldn't even bring ourselves to have a drink at the bar before going to bed... After possibly the worst nights sleep I've had in a long time (I'm sure it's fine if you like sharing the dip in the bed with your other half or precariously hanging on to the edge of the mattress all night) we headed down to breakfast which it has to be said was the Lodges only redeeming feature. We decided to check out early. We asked to speak to the manager to raise our concerns only to be told he wasn't available as he was seeing to the needs of the larger party staying... So that was nice. Fortunately the card we had used to secure our booking is the sort that takes customer service seriously and when advised of the abysmal experience we'd had, reversed the charge taken by Duxford Lodge. I have no idea if the manager was aware of this but frankly given their lack of concern in general I saw no reason to advise them. Don't get me wrong, this place could be good, even lovely just not in its current state or under it's present management. Stayed December 2016, travelled with friends “What's the point” Reviewed yesterday NEWvia mobile Disjointed decor, poorly maintained. So much potential but clearly lacking clear management direction. Beautiful setting and building facade, ruined as soon as you step over the threshold!! Staff are lovely. “Avoid!!!” Reviewed yesterday NEWvia mobile Don't waste your money! The owner is rude and arrogant, breakfast was cold, room was dirty and small for the price with fitted wardrobes like your nans house?! The bathroom also needed a lot of work, it's not hard to clean mould from around sinks and shower areas. Some of the rooms look lovely on the website but ours wasn't, so it's basically Russian roulette. A risk I wouldn't recommend taking. Number 1 of hotels in Duxford, as it's the only hotel in Duxford. Real shame as the area is beautiful and the building has so much potential but it requires someone who knows what their doing. Clearly upkeep and maintenance isn't their strong point as well as hospitality. Stayed September 2016, travelled as a couple “Paul” Reviewed 2 days ago NEWvia mobile Excellent service from a very good staff team. Kevin the GM is the most amazing host. The room and breskfast were great. Can highly recommend. 😊 Will certainly stay again when i am back on business. Thank you Kevin you are doing a great job you should be proud. “Out Dated” Reviewed 3 days ago NEW Booked months in advance nearest place to get to a wedding venue, said we needed to get into the room by 11am, not problem, luckily I wrote down everything that Kevin said, because as we got there was confronted with a note on the door to say closed and to ring a number, which I did and a women said someone would be there soon, 20 minutes later a young man turned up said no rooms were ready, showed him the notes I had made to say we could get into the room by 11am, by which time he said there was one available out the back, which was perfect away from any noise, but no heating on, no hot water, TV didn't work and door didn't lock, complained in the morning so got some discount, but definitely not worth the £120 we were quoted, out dated and Kevin the GM has no idea how to run a hotel, as show in 4 in a bed yesterday, DON'T GO. Stayed October 2016, travelled as a couple |

Hope you've all recovered from last week's 4IAB! Here's this week's info .......
Monday The first visit of the week is to Stockton Mill B&B in Marton, Shropshire, where Stephen and Caroline Cox hope to provide a home-from-home environment for their guests. https://stocktonmill.wordpress.com/ https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...e_England.html Tuesday The second visit is to Duxford Lodge in Cambridgeshire, run by ex-phone salesman Kevin Patel. He is hoping to turn his family owned hotel into a 1940s inspired B&B. http://www.duxfordlodgehotel.co.uk/ ??? https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...d.html#REVIEWS Wednesday The third visit of the week is to The Riverside House Hotel in Mildenhall, where experienced hosts Ged and Suzanne offer the full hotel experience to their guests. http://www.theriversidehousehotel.co.uk/ https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...a_England.html Thursday The final visit of the week is to the dog-friendly Gate Hangs High in Hook Norton, Oxfordshire. Most guests are impressed although it seems Kevin is determined to find fault. http://www.gatehangshigh.co.uk/ https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...e_England.html Friday The B&B owners gather for the last time to find out what they have been paid and to settle some scores. Caroline and Stephen are keen to hear Stacey's reasons for not wanting to return to their `home-from-home' B&B, while Kevin wants to get to the bottom of why Ged and Suzanne gave him such low marks for cleanliness. I don't know how to do links myself so I've gone back to find it. He did have lots of bad reviews before but got extra ones this week. |

"I'm not going to listen to you. I'd rather listen to a monkey".
At that point, I would've punched Kevin for that insult.

![]() I liked the review that the first poster gave for the Red Lion at Hinxston. That place looks great and as it's clearly near to Kevin's place it's the place to go to. |

That homely b&b woman was aghast at the dreadful plumbing at the girls' place and only knocked £3 off her payment. That was ridiculous. She underpaid Kevin by far more.

Kevin was charging a rediculously high amount for what he offered. Even at £100 per night, it was still very poor value. |
