Look - I know Sue - I'm not best mates or even that matey with her. She is straight talking and down to earth. From what I have heard (my OH has seen and spoken to her since) she spent hours being filmed and interviewed - at least one scene (the road works one) her conversation was cut and spliced. I have no doubt whatsoever that she whinged about the feather bedding - the fact is it was just one thing amongst a load of other stuff negative and positive that she said. No body put words into her mouth but the questions were framed and phrased to bring out negativity.
I realise that she is a long way from most people's cup of tea but she really isn't a bad person - she is very popular with her customers and friends. It is a TV programme - if anyone honetly believes that things aren't tweaked and edited in order to make controversial/talked about TV then they are incredibly naive. Sue was/is ideal fodder as she says it straight - she doesn't do fake smiley, gushy stuff. It's got everyone talking - job done. |

Well you've got that wrong - never mind.
What you fail to realise my dear, is I dont care a FIG about Sue and Louise or how they are or even who they are. I have no thoughts about them whatsover in the real world. The can be as nice as pie and wonderful kind people but I care not. ~What I do care is them trying to assinate the good names of hard working contestents who were on the show with them.....making them out to be lax in their jobs to the point of paying peanuts for a beautiful room, yet still enjoying a free breakfast and showing ALL 3 B&Bs up as much as they could, by saying quite clearly they wouldnt stay there again. IF you read my post answering you further up the page you will see what I wrote. I thought they were behaving badly, and they were game playing you said so yourself, so they could WIN a stupid plaque to shove on their wall. If you cant see it that is your problem not mine. Like I said they have no interest in me as a people, just as contestents in a REALITY SHOW which i watched courtesy of my paid for T.V. licence. IF they had anything about themselves they would come on here and talk to us and explain, not hide behind all their MATES now wouldnt they. Ciao... i dont have time to answer you again, things to do, chickens to feed. Enjoy your tea and cake. Oh before i go please refer to post #1145 |

I politely asked you one straight forward question that left you the option to reply 'No, I'm afraid I don't' yet you reply with a tirade like this. That speaks volumes on many levels. I wouldn't complain about your treatment on here any more as it certainly isn't one way.
You have certainly misinterpreted the tone.I thought it was a full and frank answer. I guess it must be something to do with the area I live - I talk a lot - I try to be straight talking and clear (I don't do concise). |

Errrrrrrrrrrrm - wasn't it on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday as well?
![]() Anyway I'm done here - I'm not sure who I'm supposed to be or who I'm supposedly trying to fool I'm just giving my view on it. All a storm in a tea cup. As far as I'm aware all the contestants have chatted since and there's no hard feelings - (I could be wrong on that but that's what I heard) - I'm sure they all know that they put their reputations on the line. Sue and Lou haven't come out well but I honestly don't foresee any lasting damage (much to the disappointment of many). I'm sure they all work hard - some come over kinder/nicer/fairer - that's what the show is about. Good luck to all of them. Time for next week's programme now. |

Penny, Sue brought up that she had an allergy that prevented her from using feather bedding and made a big issue about a bad reaction she suffered after having to sleep in such at one of the establishments.
However, as an FM on here pointed out earlier in the thread, another of the establishments had feather bedding too and Sue was able to sleep there with no allergic problems what so ever. Have you any idea why? My son has a feather allergy and I can say from loads of experience in this area that if Sue had a REAL feather allergy her face would have been swollen, her eyes and nose would have been weeping buckets with sneezing and she'd have had itchy skin as soon as she encountered the bed. And despite taking the 'tablet' the symptoms would have persisted into the next day - one tablet does not fix things let me tell you. Did Sue have streaming eyes and nose at breakfast? no. Did Sue show evidence of red, itchy skin on her face? no Was Sue sneezing in that room? nope This is how a feather allergy affects you, even a mild reaction - as anyone on here with the same affliction would attest. The verdict?......Sue was telling porkies. |

These hairs are becoming ridiculous aren't they Lucy? Every year we go at least once, usually more often, to a large hotel in Yorkshire, part of a well known group. Our room is always spotless. This year, when I went into the bathroom, there was a long black hair in the bath. So I turned the tap on to get rid of it. The rest of the bathroom was pristine. Later, I saw the maid in the corridor. She was Spanish with beautiful long black hair, properly tied back. My guess is she turned away from the bath and shed a hair. Did I say anything about the hair to anyone? Of course I didn't! These things happen.
Now, if there had been a dog or cat sleeping in or on the bed, that would be a totally different matter. who cares unless the carpet is covered in them and the place is filthy. Its so tiresome....to be honest and boring lol. |

ROFL
Yes - I am only pretending to know Sue from Lil(l)y's pad - I can't possibly know her I am just attention seeking. FGS - I can't even spell the name correctly. And what's more I'm a male masquerading under a female user name. Dear God - this place get's more childish by the day. You posted: Quote:
I do know they have been very upset by the way they've been portrayed but they are mature enough to realise that they could have probably played a better game like they played the wrong game.
So they were playing a game - as in they had a game plan? Slag off all the other places, underpay everyone, say no to staying at any of the places again - was that it? If they are so upset with 4IAB and the way they've been portrayed who set them up as the baddies; are they keeping the plaque? Have they got it on display, are they going to have it on display or have they binned it? |

I'm not sure I'd agree that it's the same for all TBH. You can be portrayed sympathetically or portrayed as nasty.
I don't think Sue and Louise are nasty people - I think they wanted to win - I think they are pernickety and you can't make that up. I also know that they have a much softer and nicer side than what was shown. I think they simply chose to show every negative comment they made and nothing positive at all. I would hazard a guess that some of the others made negative comments too but that would detract from the 'baddies' and it wouldn't be such a good show. Their tea room is packed out every single day and their 'pudding club' and special evenings are always sold out. The reviews on the B&B are all 5* and excellent - people do go back - would they go back if they are uch horrible people? Sue is very successful because she's very driven and hard working - I guess she's also very competitive. I think all the hate is pretty childish and OTT - they went on a show and hoped to win - they didn't kill anyone. |

Thing is, she was the only one who could see it!

Hi MadBetty we all agree or concur about the reaction to her errrr feather allergy which she actually said, she has NEVER SLEPT with a bed with feather pillows before so how she knew she was allergic is beyond me.
ALSO the clincher is The Castle she stayed at also has Feather pillows and duvets its on their website yeh weirdly enough she had no problem sleeping in that bed.... ![]() I mean, if you go on this show and, all other things aside, seriously underpay nice people with very nice properties for the most trivial reasons then the viewers are not going to like you. Especially when you do it sitting there with po-faced arrogance. The payments are supposed to reflect value for money, not be used to penalise or punish owners because the wrong bloody spoon was put on the breakfast table or a bathroom blind flapped in the breeze. Can these contestants not understand by now how puerile they look when they do this? |

I felt sorry for Audrey actually, she even cooked them all a lovely supper, their rooms were well clean and presented, the breakfast lovely, and the crockery look smashing to me, and they still found so much fault. The thing is too who would open a bathroom window and then have a shower NO one would.......... your aving a larf lol......

Don't people wash new sheets and towels before use?
They can and the establishment can request posts are removed. Although they won't ask for the positive review to be deleted. ![]() That reviewer has made one post and could be new to TA. So did they also have the time to join and make their glowing report? ![]() Anyone can say something nasty on that prog or any prog. In theory, the producers could single out on one couple and show all their nasty comments and ignore all the lovely stuff they said as they claimed. But in their case, the evidence also is there on the feedback forms and reflected in their payments which backs up what we saw. They did say those things and if they were manipulated as they said, then they are just plain stupid and nasty. That post was dread. It was so poorly written and as others have pointed out there were also inconsistencies in their tale of woe. The supporting replies also smacked of them rallying all their mates etc. ![]()

Well - enough has been said on the gruesome twosome now, but it's interesting to see that they have generated such a backlash on social media and on these forums - I can't remember any other host(s) generating so many pages - even Mrs T, Mad donkey woman or nasty Mike the other week......
I suppose the difference with Mike was that he and Karen made it abundantly clear to their competitors that they hated their places, wouldn't stay again in a million years, and thought the place was the dog's whatsits, so the comments and payments were no surprise. I agree that when I stay at a hotel or BnB, I don't actually want to interact that much with my hosts. They can show me to my room and serve me my breakfast, but I wouldn't actively seek them out unless to sort a problem or ask advice on the local area. I'd chat to be polite, but wouldn't want to socialise - I'm a paying guest, not a friend! That said, I have watched FIAB for years now, and actively look out for some of the places featured if I was visiting their part of the country, but will admit that if I thought the hosts were horrible, I wouldn't waste my money on them, but drive on to another. |

That's the sort of trade that I'd imagine most participants are looking for when they sign up.... It is after all a weeks free advertising on almost Prime time national TV, and showcases their places to potential new customers. Sue and Louise have seriously damaged their chances of getting that. Personally I thought all 4 places last week were worthy of a visit, especially the Clifton who IMHO offered wonderful value for money, and I live not far away enough from the Castle to warrant a stay, but I wouldn't put a penny in Sues pocket after what she wrote on the forms and paid the others.... I agree that editing and cut and splice can make a mockery of what was actually said - but they cannot deny those feedback forms or the payments were all their own work! |

Interestingly, a seasoned ex-Digital Spy regular has stated on the FB fan page that Penny Crayon is a long time DS troll that is indeed male and has been banned on a number of occasions. They always come back but don't vary their posting style so are caught again. The aggressive style whilst avoiding answers and just blustering to s. stir is par for the course apparently. Time indeed to move on.

I'd like to see the evidence of that. I can hand on heart say that there is not one single element of truth in that - but you believe what you want. Rather ridiculous that someone who simply comes in with a different take on things is called a troll and a previously banned member. I'm sure that if you look around the DS forums there are plenty that'll vouch for me. I'm not on FB - I would like to know who's spreading absolute rubbish about me though. Says far more about them than me. Good day to you all. |
