This thread is generally a fun place to hang out, but it's turned really ugly in the last few pages. A couple of you need to grow the hell up - and I'm not talking about Penny Crayon, who came on here with her perfectly reasonable views and got a load of childish abuse in return.
I'm done here for a while. Furthermore, PennyC has made some questionable statements. She has not expressed perfectly reasonable views all of the time. These statements have been challenged. What is wrong with that? If there is any blame to be apportioned, she should be included. She is certainly not an innocent party as claimed. This is a forum and posters can query views expressed in posts. Having a difference of opinion and challenging posts does not make anyone wrong. |

The contest begins at The King's Head in Addlethorpe, Lincolnshire, where landlady Helen Coy and her bar manager and best friend Emma Green are pulling out all the stops to win. The B&B owners are taken back to their childhood at the funfair, At dinner, B&B beginners Louise and Andy Macbeth rattle nerves when Louise reveals her past career as a hospitality journalist - leaving pub veteran Helen less than impressed. http://kingsheadaddlethorpe.com/ http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_R...e_England.html Tuesday B&B newcomers Andy and Louise Macbeth invite their rival hoteliers to spend the night at the dog-friendly Beck Hall in North Yorkshire, where an extra-critical Helen and Emma discover what they believe to be stray dog hairs in their bed. A fishing trip makes Terri feel a little out of sorts, and when the time arrives for feedback, the managers are surprised to learn two of their guests have indicated they would not come back for a second stay. http://www.beckhallmalham.com/ http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_R...e_England.html Wednesday The contestants travel to the Albaston in Torquay for the third day of the competition, where they are welcomed by owners and avid souvenir collectors, Kevin and Julie Shadbolt. Terri and Stuart are impressed by their room, but are startled by the memorabilia in the communal lounge, and expectations are raised at dinner when Kevin reveals he has a secret recipe for success when it comes to breakfast. However, at feedback the next day, tensions begin to rise. http://www.albastonhotel.co.uk/ http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_R...n_England.html Thursday The final stay of the week is in Bournemouth, at Terri and Stewart's specialist dance holiday venue the Hotel Piccadilly, where a class in the grand ballroom soon has the guests in a spin. However, temperatures rise over dinner when the simmering tension between Louise and Helen finally boils over. http://www.hotelpiccadilly.co.uk/ http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_R...t_England.html Friday The owners meet up for the last time to find out what they've been paid and to settle some scores. King's Head landlady Helen challenges Louise and Andy about the problems they reported on cleanliness in the bathroom. while Louise and Andy from Beck Hall get hot under the collar when the others criticise their dog-friendly approach. |

I always watch all 5 episodes in one go (far easier to skip the activities) and then come here and read the week's thread. Well this week's thread certainly took longer to read than usual. ![]() The two from Lilly's really were their own worst enemies. To be honest it doesn't really matter what they're like in real life. It's how they acted on this TV show that matters. Around 1 million people will have watched them every day for 5 nights in a row - and on each night they came across badly. That is where they went wrong. If they're so nice IRL then why be the total opposite on TV? ![]() I quite liked Audrey. Her complaints just got wilder and wilder at each location. I quite liked Sharon too............................................. Quote:
Interestingly, a seasoned ex-Digital Spy regular has stated on the FB fan page that Penny Crayon is a long time DS troll that is indeed male and has been banned on a number of occasions. They always come back but don't vary their posting style so are caught again. The aggressive style whilst avoiding answers and just blustering to s. stir is par for the course apparently. Time indeed to move on.
![]() , but that doesn't make her a troll and whatever else she is accused of being by the 'seasoned ex-Digital Spy regular' ......... Not nice. |

I'm quite frankly amazed at the accusation to be honest. I have encountered you on other threads over a significant period of time and am sure that in a lot of cases your views on things have been pretty close to my own (I think, if I am remembering correctly!).
I definitely do not think you are a troll and am quite appalled at the accusation. It stinks and should be retracted. Having said which, sorry, Penny, but I thought your acquaintances came over incredibly badly last week. I would definitely not stay with them because of that. If they were stitched up, then I am sorry, but at the end of the day, it is what it is. This was copied from a post from FACEBOOK FIAB about a poster on there calling her a TROLL. So why do we get it in the neck here? ![]() Quite frankly I am sure PC can stand up for herself. The only thing I have seen is people asking her to clairify statements she has made about knowing the couple in the Lilly Pad. I made a comment about the way she spoke to one of OUR REGULAR posters on here (I note PC hasnt posted since September and is an avid BB poster). The tone of her comment was rude...and I questioned why the word MATE as it sounded male. Everyone else chose to go on about it. It seems that our regular posters are in the wrong over this when non have been rude to her. NO one on here called her a TROLL, so can we get back to talking about the thread title FIAB, not about PC and her posts, which have actually now caused more problems and discords and arugements and upsetting people for our own regulars.... Seems that we are all at each others throats and yet the reason why well ....... not sure myself lol..... No the word TROLL came from facebook NOT US, so please stop moaning at us lot lol. In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into ... Now why would anyone call our PC a Troll how rude. Anyway as today is a new week WOO HOO, I doubt PC will know any of the contestants so hopefully this week we can just chat amongst ourselves and enjoy the calm of our group again. So who is going to be the baddy B&B this week lol... PLACE YER BETS......... |

FISHING my idea of heaven. There website is lovely, but i cant see reviews. I would stay there I only ever stay where i can take my dog. x
I have realised I know it. Never been in, but have passed by several times when we have been in the area, and it looks nice. I am not at all surprised they have dog friendly rooms. This is huge walking country and they would miss a large market of dog owners if they didn't. We have friends with a dog, and have regularly stayed with them at dog friendly inns. In our experience, there have always been rooms that are for dogs and those that are not. We have always been put in a "non dog" room as we don't have one. Apparently the dog friendly rooms in most places are extremely sought after and the first to be booked. Am I alone in smelling a rat already? Are we going to have people who hate dogs put in a dog friendly room? Am I just an old cynic, or has FIAB become too predictable? I could be very wrong but .................................... |

I mean, that would be as daft as complaining about hearing seagulls in a seaside place or farm animals on a farm - no one on FIAB would ever be that daft...

It would be very silly to complain about dogs when being dog friendly is the establishment's USP.

So who is going to be the baddy B&B this week lol... PLACE YER BETS......... Oh dear. It would seem that I stumbled into a very cosy thread with REGULAR POSTERS and had the audacity to take a different view. I was not rude I simply responded to one very childish assertion that I was lying and didn't know the people at Lilly's Pad at all and that I was making it up. So elsewhere I have been referred to as a Troll, Male, PBU and wind up merchant and although it wasn't suggested by one of 'the regulars' they saw fit to post it on here. I post on DS every day and several times a day the search function is buggered so it shows no posts since September. I am very much a regular but not on this thread (very unlikely I'll be a regular on here). It seems elsewhere there are people banned on here (for good reason) taking the opportunity to settle scores from years ago. I saw a user name on here and the 'Penny ' dropped. What a thoroughly nasty thread this is. I came in with a bit of 'local knowledge' totally oblivious to the fact that it is clearly a very 'close' little community. Some people were incredibly rude and hostile from the off. When some posters very kindly 'stood up for me' other 'REGULARS' defended blindly and even suggested that I was 'to blame'. I haven't actually watched 4IAB for a long time - I probably won't watch again much in the future. I'll leave THE REGULARS to it. |

I could be very wrong but .................................... so you have seen it then, I would stay there, i love that type of place. Their website is very professional. Funny enough my daughter went to a dog friendly place in Devon as they took their two pooches for her honeymoon and they were put in a room only used for people with dogs as the hotelier asked her prior to her booking. She said however, the room was spotless and never smelt at all, and the place had more people with dogs then without lol. I agree with you with this type of area, being dog friendly is really important, and yes like you I smell a rat too or a wet smelly dog lol...... The thing is unless they never changed the sheets how would there be dog hairs in the bed? Or did i read that wrong? If your cynical then I must be twice as bad lol...... Maybe us oldies been there done that ha ha.x P.S. is it just me or has Digital Spy changed format, as I couldnt even get in using Firefox, and the interface was all different. Anyway see you in the morning to see what everyone has said about No 1. |
