Are they anywhere near to the dreaded Lilly Padders?
Not really, Lincolnshire is a massive county. Please don't think all Lincolnshire women are like these four! 😊

Why did people go OTT about dogs being allowed there? Some people like to take their dogs on holiday. It's just a service they offer and clearly not for everyone. It's not like they have a pack of unruly dogs chasing round the place!
Its an excuse to mark them down, even though its a plus point given the location and that a lot of places wont allow dogs. I expect the Alberston to be marked down for being near the sea and the Picadilly to be marked down for allowing ballroom dancers on the premises

I wonder what The Kings Head's policy on guide dogs is?

I hate chavvy people who are reverse snobby against well off or educated people!
This, exactly. They typify the sort of people who accuse other people of being snobs, when the only ones looking down their noses at anybody are them.

Careful. They might have a mate like last week's women.

I looked at one bit of tonight's prog again to see who was drinking coke at brekkie. At the point where the woman said it upset her when she got tomatoes on her plate, they went back to the brekkie table for me to notice the coke drinker removing her knife from her gob!

Poor table manners or what?

Yesterday's women remind me of these two:

FIAB used to be a great show, I thought its intention was to show us various B&Bs that we might like to stay in sometime, but it has turned into a game show. Place hairs in strategic positions, drop a few crumbs, spray dust - sometimes described as 'clean dust' or 'dirty dust' <rolls eyes> sprinkle something onto brand new sheets so that they look like stains - and ........... go find them!
Then get the b&bers to complain about any trivial thing. etc. etc. I do feel for those who have been played around with, it must be so frustrating, I wonder if they realised just what they were signing up to?

Re tomatogate - why did she even ask about tomatoes if she wasn't going to have them anyway? Just more mischief making.

Fishing is a blood sport, there is no need, and there is especially no need fr them to kill the fish.
I take exception to that statement.

Everytime i buy a fishing license the money is used for preservation and conservation efforts to ensure that fish species thrive and survive... A real angler which I am respects the fish, and have to follow rules for fishing in the lakes to catch carp. We are legally NOT allowed to use barbaric hooks they were outlawed. Every fish that comes onto the bank is giving respect, and gently put back for another day.

IF there were no anglers doing this sport, there would be little fish left in our rivers and lakes, because they would be overrun, and become unhealthy, and the lakes would be tangled with weed and no oxygen. By paying for a licence all these lakes and rivers are kept clean and more fish survive.

NOT only that it would become a free for all and people would be fishing and ruining the river banks, and taking stock away, since the arrival of many Easter European people they are doing so illegally and eating our carp.

It is a sport granted but no blood is exchanged. I have never seen blood when I have caught a fish.

However, FISHING for food, is different but you still need to pay for the licences. ITS NOT FREE.

The activity last night was to fish for their food. Granted personally perhaps the end should have been edited, but again the production crew did it for affect.

The point being too this was a SPECIAL FISH FARM for catching fish to eat. They have one in Bibury near where I live. The trout are there for people to catch a fish and take it home to eat it. They would not be there for 20 years anyway.

These trout farms are there to restock rivers and lakes, and also for people to learn about the fish, but also fish for them too.

http://www.biburytroutfarm.co.uk/visitors.html

Fish came from the river and sea. If you eat fish, it has to be killed. I would rather club a fish quickly then just leave it on the river bank to slowly suffocate, then eat it.

BILLIONS of fish every year are taken out of the sea, and left in holds and die by suffocation. Yet people eat fish all the time, even VEGETARIANS eat fish.

I take exception to it being called a blood sport, because a true angler is there to support the environment and partake in a day out hoping they might actually say hello to a few carp in the day. BUT EVERYONE that is catched is put back for another day. The old saying they feel pain has been discounted by several scientists, as the lip contains no nerves in a fish.

Most days out fishing you dont catch anything anyway.

I thought Beck Hall looked a lovely place and I liked their taste in colours and furnishings.

I can understand why Helen and Emma wouldn't go back though, they were totally out of their comfort zone and every shot of them they had faces like slapped behinds.
I agree SS, I doubt they walk very far anyway, cant imagine them living in the Yorkshire Dales, a bit of exercise and fresh air would do them good they were way out of their depth. I think though it should be would they come back to the B&B per se, rather then the area.

The B&B was fabulous, I am actually hoping to go there now next year. It has everything we would need.

Yes the rooms were lovely.

I've just watched tonight's one & even though we don't have a dog, I would stay there, it looked lovely.

Helen & Emma are awful, one of them commented there being 2 shower heads & asked why? We have 3 showers in our house & 2 of them have 2 shower heads, why? Because it makes it so much easier to clean, thick cow.

Can't believe the host said they will look to change the chandeliers, they're beautiful & in keeping with their, place, not every guest is 6'5" tall. They did take the criticisms well though & to be fair, the points deducted were minor when you compare last weeks comments & the number of points deducted.

Envy is a sad thing & it's obvious Helen & Emma are both envious, I think they will underpay, even though it's good value for money, although I would probably underpay slightly if most of my breakfast was cold (if indeed it was cold).
I agree with above.

I dont think she will for one minute change the chandeliers. This young lady had more class and professlionism that I have ever seen on FIAB.

Every comment she received she took it as a help rather then a negative. She never once made a remark that anyone watching could misconstrue. She was calm and took it all on the chin. I applaude her for that.

Her place (her partner is silent lol), was exceptional, well presented, and catered for all types.

Where Helen and emma got the idea they only concentrated on dog friendly people I have no idea. I didnt see one room for example with a dog bed on the floor lol...or loads of dog pillows, dog themes......

The breakfast was lovely. I doubt it was cold either. They had to find fault nick pick.

What was all that about anyway with Helen and tomatoes? Why ask about them, she should have simply said I will have the breakfast NO TOMATOES I dont like them, did she say that I dont remember her saying it.

No its all game playing again. IF anyone underpays that place then its a travesty.

They were killed for dinner. I think its good for us meat eaters to be reminded every now and then that our food doesn't just appear in shrink wrap at Tesco. The fish were quickly dispatched by the expert - a far better end than 99.999% of fish who die of asphyxiatioin on the trawler.
By this stage in the competition the producers (who actually line up the activity) would've known if there were any veggies in the group.
Excellent post.

Changing the subject, I heard something very interesting yesterday.

We always say on this thread that the proprietors opportunity to showcase their properties and themselves on TV like this is something they couldn't afford to pay for. We also say that showing themselves in a petty, nasty liight will reflect negatively on their business.

A friend's husband has a small antique shop. Antiques Road Trip visited. The clip used of the shop in the programme was very short, but afterwards he received about 20 phone calls asking about what he stocked, and a lady enquiring if by any chance he still had an item she could see in the background on the show. Since the show his business has increased significantly.

So it CAN & DOES make a difference how one comes across on these programmes.

s.
For sure. It has to work the other way too, I wonder how many cancellations/lack of interest there will be for Helen and Emma now? For where it is and what it is their BB is fine, they have done it no favours, and all for the sake of 15 minutes of fame

Just watching this a day late and I'm confused why are the two. From the 1st night and the. One with long grey hair saying that the hotel catered more for dogs than the owners? Have I missed a whole segment as I saw nothing that indicated that. Is there a pattern starting to emerge that the first couple on get their night out of the way and then act like total knobs everywhere else. The so called hair looked like a fibre from the woollen blanket and the nonsense over the tomato, she obviously hoped that it would only be one option so that she could ask for whatever wasn't available. I thought that Beck Hall looked absolutely stunning and seemed underpriced compared to so many we have seen on this programme

If there was anything to suggest that the owners were over-focussed on the dog side of the business, I missed it too and thought the comments were odd. The property looked lovely - well-designed, clean, airy in the public areas... and the sort of place I'd enjoy staying with or without my dog. Nice owners who don't appear to think they have to be Mr or Mrs Personality with a sideline in 'witty banter' and rooms well-priced. Works for me.

And what's with all the cleavage shots last week and this... Unless the show is trying to demonstrate some sort of (inverse) correlation between bra size and IQ...

You didnt miss anything. I wonder if it was stuff been edited out which were never saw about the dogs. I watched it again, NOTHING.

I totally agree with you about the format. I think the first two are going to be the nasty ones, and I just hope we dont end up with people come on here Friday/Saturday defending their friends behaviour lol.

I thought the tomatoe thing totally bizarre and actually you make a very good point over it, and I think on reflection that was what she was doing.

I loved the place. Am hoping we can go stay there next year. Its ideal for us, dog friendly, fishing the lot lol. BLISS.

Well if the programme can be edited to make some people look bad, it can be edited to make others look good
The being too dog-focussed comments struck me as odd given what we had seen. Possibly Beck Hall allows dogs into the dining room but we weren't shown that conversation?

edit:

Just had a read on tripadvisor - does seem dogs are allowed in lounge and dining room. I don't really like dogs much, but tbh in an area like Malham they would seem quite 'in place' and it wouldn't put me off. I note that their website says "dog friendly" on the front page though, so normal punters should know what to expect.
