She's got a very typical accent for her generation, of my parents' age and brought up in rural communities, a lot of them sound like that, my family included It's a very slow, twangy accent but you do get used to it. And it has died out a lot. Oooh-arrr etc.

On a side note, @lucydtrym you need to learn how to multi quote x
Yes I know sheddy i have asked posters before how to do it, but no one has obliged perhaps you could? Ta so muchly....x

They should be clean .. Catherine was right to complain!!
The thing is though without defending it, how many people go into a hotel and strip the pillows and the cover off the duvet? If you did you would never sleep in the room lol. These polyester pillows can stain really fast with the first head on the pillow if they are sweaty.

No excuse just saying. You can put a new duvet into a cover and then some idiot spills coffee or tea all over it, and it goes through to the duvet itself. Believe me i have seen some sights when working hotels, thats why the big one i worked at opted out of them, as they got stained so fast it was too expensive to keep changing them.

No excuse though, BUT I wonder and its something I am going to ask Louise at Beck Hall, I think they have to rely on other staff to have the rooms ready, as they are away filming. I dont think they really get a chance to check the rooms personally.

I think they probably do before they go, but they wouldnt shut their place down for 2 weeks would they?

Fair play though to Katherine for telling them, at least she did that, and my faith was a little bit restored in 4inabed. They had a chance to do something about it.

Those blokes are a pair of spiteful numpties. They must be really thick to behave in such an immature tit-for-tat manners. Tools.
Yes i agree, i think the big bloke all week actually has been critical. He didnt like one negative on his place, and acted like a nob. I thought their behaviour last night was ludicrous to the extreme.

My favorite bit though is I had a feeling those rooms would not be the ones where dogs were allowed to stay, and they were not. So they made all that fuss over nothing.

I defy anyone who has lots of human traffic in their rooms to be able to hoover every rug and not leave some traces of hair or fibre on them... Even with my super duper pet proof one, it still has bits on the carpet if you get a magnifying glass out...

Those rugs do carry fibre and hairs more so then the fitted carpets, i got rid of all my rugs because of my dog shedding on them.

Anyway i hope they get told tonight, their room was a dog free zone. Up theres with their smirk stupid faces and a score of 3, for a tiny bit of dust. IDIOTS. I wouldnt go to their place now, they showed themselves up for me last night.

That sausage was burnt. Not well cooked.
Yes well so were hers on her night if you look. I think she was being nit picking at least the hosts tried to satisfy her needs. My husband only ever eats his that colour. I refused to cook them for him in the end, as I could never get them burnt it wasnt in my nature ha ha.

I've just been looking at the sample menu on the Fritton Arms website and it lists "deserts" http://www.frittonarms.co.uk/sample-menus/ Very unprofessional.
Its all very sandy isnt it, their deserts.....

Anyone know what the numbers are in the Fritton menu?

http://www.frittonarms.co.uk/sample-menus/
Yep, as someone else has said, it's the prices! At the end of each menu item description, untabulated, bald figures such as "11", "7 1/2". Unbelievable - stuff like that really gets my goat, and if I were confronted by that menu, I'd walk straight out the door.

Apparently, it's come from across the Pond (where pretentious restaurants love to be pretentious), and the lack of pound sign is designed to distract from how expensive the menu items actually are.

Ben came across as a pretentious prat from day one, and this proves it.

Yeah I have seen it bebefore, although usually it will be 11.5 insted of 1/2, which makes more sense as we do not have half a pound.

I feel stupid now
No need to feel stupid. It is a huge pretention that is creeping in all over the place. I first came across it in London 3/4 years ago, on a specials board, and had to ask what the numbers meant. I think it is ridicuous, and it can easily put me off a place before I have even seen what the food looks like, let alone have tasted it!

OK Lucy. Tutorial coming up. As you read the posts, for any you want to answer, hit the box to the right of quote, the one with a black square bubble with a + in it. Nothing will happen at this stage. Keep going through the posts repeating the above for any you want to comment on. When you are done, hit the "add reply" button at the bottom of the final page. All the posts you have selected will come up in the message box. You can then put your cursor after each one you want to reply to and add your comment. When you have done, hit submit reply, and it will appear as a post in the way this one of mine has.

Sorry Amelia. I had started typing my reply to Lucy, and got distracted. By the time I had finished and posted it, you had posted an answer to her question. I didn't mean to repeat what you had already said.

With a bit of research on the interweb, I'm sure someone can prove me wrong. But I have noticed that in general, anywhere that has prices like this is either really pretentious, or trying to prove something - but who knows what.

I have quickly googled a few high class restaurants menus and find that Michel Roux Jnr and Marcus Wareing both use proper £ signs. But then they have nothing to prove!

Kinky Boots. It was fab.
Glad you enjoyed it. I was going to go see it in NYC last year but went to another show instead.

Don't feel stupid. As Humpty Dumpy said the way they've done the prices is rather pretentious.

Of course, yes, but we do not say 11 and a half pounds, it would be eleven pounds fifty, so a .5 makes a lot more sense then a 1/2 on these type of menus.

New York!

Off to see Matilda tonight and Cats tomorrow. Have seen both before but fancy seeing them again. Gypsy with Imelda Staunton is definitely worth seeing but you'd have to be quick as it closes very soon.

Anyway, back to 4IAB. Not sure who's going to be this week's baddies. The two blokes are at number one for me. But that Catherine is a bit of a loose cannon who knows what she will do? Does she even know?!

I went to see the Carol King musical Beautiful a few months ago. I would highly recommend it. It was amazing and very uplifting with a lot of memorable songs.

Totally off topic, but as people in here have been talking about theatre ...............

I love the theatre and go as often as I can. I am in London soon and have booked tickets for Sunny Afternoon. I love The Kinks music, and have a CD permanently in the car. I have a confession to make. When I was in my teens I was a member of The Kinks fan club.

Has anyone seen the show?

Not yet but hopefully I will get to see it over the Christmas period. Funny Girl with Sheridan Smith is starting soon also. Not sure if I want to see it or not though as Streisand is a very tough act to follow.

I don't know really. Maybe it's the owners or maybe it's the creative people who design their menus, websites etc. Although they could always say No of course
I've always assumed they think it makes them look hip.

I love the idea of Catherine as a loose cannon

I haven't seen it no, but I do have 'You Really Got Me' as my phone ring tone. It's so funny when there are people round me, it never fails to make them sing

I can't call the result tonight.

Yeah, you really got me now ...................... SolarSail

So your ring tones makes people sing. Doesn't that speak volumes about that era of music? I'm really looking forward to the show cos of the music, and the reviews are very good. My favourite Kinks tracks are Dedicated Follower of Fashion and Lola. Both quite naughty for their time. I will freely admit I know the words to all of the Kinks tracks, and will probably be singing out loud all the way through. So when anyone says about some old biddy making a fool of herself .......................................

I can't call this week's FIAB either.
