She's got a very typical accent for her generation, of my parents' age and brought up in rural communities, a lot of them sound like that, my family included
It's a very slow, twangy accent but you do get used to it. And it has died out a lot. Oooh-arrr etc.On a side note, @lucydtrym you need to learn how to multi quote x |

They should be clean .. Catherine was right to complain!!
No excuse just saying. You can put a new duvet into a cover and then some idiot spills coffee or tea all over it, and it goes through to the duvet itself. Believe me i have seen some sights when working hotels, thats why the big one i worked at opted out of them, as they got stained so fast it was too expensive to keep changing them. No excuse though, BUT I wonder and its something I am going to ask Louise at Beck Hall, I think they have to rely on other staff to have the rooms ready, as they are away filming. I dont think they really get a chance to check the rooms personally. I think they probably do before they go, but they wouldnt shut their place down for 2 weeks would they? Fair play though to Katherine for telling them, at least she did that, and my faith was a little bit restored in 4inabed. They had a chance to do something about it. |

Those blokes are a pair of spiteful numpties. They must be really thick to behave in such an immature tit-for-tat manners. Tools.
My favorite bit though is I had a feeling those rooms would not be the ones where dogs were allowed to stay, and they were not. So they made all that fuss over nothing. I defy anyone who has lots of human traffic in their rooms to be able to hoover every rug and not leave some traces of hair or fibre on them... Even with my super duper pet proof one, it still has bits on the carpet if you get a magnifying glass out... ![]() Those rugs do carry fibre and hairs more so then the fitted carpets, i got rid of all my rugs because of my dog shedding on them. Anyway i hope they get told tonight, their room was a dog free zone. Up theres with their smirk stupid faces and a score of 3, for a tiny bit of dust. IDIOTS. I wouldnt go to their place now, they showed themselves up for me last night.

I've just been looking at the sample menu on the Fritton Arms website and it lists "deserts" http://www.frittonarms.co.uk/sample-menus/ Very unprofessional.

Apparently, it's come from across the Pond (where pretentious restaurants love to be pretentious), and the lack of pound sign is designed to distract from how expensive the menu items actually are. Ben came across as a pretentious prat from day one, and this proves it. |

Yep, as someone else has said, it's the prices! At the end of each menu item description, untabulated, bald figures such as "11", "7 1/2". Unbelievable - stuff like that really gets my goat, and if I were confronted by that menu, I'd walk straight out the door.

Sorry Amelia. I had started typing my reply to Lucy, and got distracted. By the time I had finished and posted it, you had posted an answer to her question. I didn't mean to repeat what you had already said.

I have quickly googled a few high class restaurants menus and find that Michel Roux Jnr and Marcus Wareing both use proper £ signs. But then they have nothing to prove!

Yeah I have seen it bebefore, although usually it will be 11.5 insted of 1/2, which makes more sense as we do not have half a pound.

Glad you enjoyed it. I was going to go see it in NYC last year but went to another show instead.
Off to see Matilda tonight and Cats tomorrow. Have seen both before but fancy seeing them again. Gypsy with Imelda Staunton is definitely worth seeing but you'd have to be quick as it closes very soon. Anyway, back to 4IAB. Not sure who's going to be this week's baddies. The two blokes are at number one for me. But that Catherine is a bit of a loose cannon who knows what she will do? Does she even know?!

Totally off topic, but as people in here have been talking about theatre ...............
I love the theatre and go as often as I can. I am in London soon and have booked tickets for Sunny Afternoon. I love The Kinks music, and have a CD permanently in the car. I have a confession to make. When I was in my teens I was a member of The Kinks fan club. ![]() Has anyone seen the show? |

With a bit of research on the interweb, I'm sure someone can prove me wrong. But I have noticed that in general, anywhere that has prices like this is either really pretentious, or trying to prove something - but who knows what.
I have quickly googled a few high class restaurants menus and find that Michel Roux Jnr and Marcus Wareing both use proper £ signs. But then they have nothing to prove! ![]() ![]() I've always assumed they think it makes them look hip. Quote:

I haven't seen it no, but I do have 'You Really Got Me' as my phone ring tone. It's so funny when there are people round me, it never fails to make them sing
![]() I can't call the result tonight. So your ring tones makes people sing. Doesn't that speak volumes about that era of music? I'm really looking forward to the show cos of the music, and the reviews are very good. My favourite Kinks tracks are Dedicated Follower of Fashion and Lola. Both quite naughty for their time. I will freely admit I know the words to all of the Kinks tracks, and will probably be singing out loud all the way through. So when anyone says about some old biddy making a fool of herself ....................................... I can't call this week's FIAB either. |
