I think they should all be disqualified, everyone of them has discredited themselves by thoughts and actions someway or another.

They are all dislikeable.

Yeah, you really got me now ...................... SolarSail

So your ring tones makes people sing. Doesn't that speak volumes about that era of music? I'm really looking forward to the show cos of the music, and the reviews are very good. My favourite Kinks tracks are Dedicated Follower of Fashion and Lola. Both quite naughty for their time. I will freely admit I know the words to all of the Kinks tracks, and will probably be singing out loud all the way through. So when anyone says about some old biddy making a fool of herself .......................................

I can't call this week's FIAB either.
Im in my twenties but a huge fan of the kinks also. Lola is up there as one of my favourites too.

Hey Amelia, that's wonderful! I am in my sixties, but I'm so pleased "my" music is still appreciated.

I know it is a cliche, but it is still very true. Those of us who were in our teens/early twenties in the 60's really were privileged to be part of a huge music revolution - although we didn't necessarily realise it at the time.

To be honest most of the music I love is from the sixties, the beatles of course, but I really love the kinks, some of what the beach boys did too, these are things that made such a mark on music. It must have been amazing to hear what bands were coming out with next.

My favourite artist to listen to is mostly Otis Redding though, I just adore his voice.

You should check out Beautiful the Carol King musical. I was very surprised hearing some of the songs they featured like Up On The Roof, The Locomotion, You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow and On Broadway which I didn't know she had co-written.

OMG your so lucky I love the film, would really love to go see it. Hope you had a fab night ewoodie. x
We did! In the foyer they have a big pair of kinky boots printed on something. You can stand behind and it looks like you have the boots on!.

With a bit of research on the interweb, I'm sure someone can prove me wrong. But I have noticed that in general, anywhere that has prices like this is either really pretentious, or trying to prove something - but who knows what.

I have quickly googled a few high class restaurants menus and find that Michel Roux Jnr and Marcus Wareing both use proper £ signs. But then they have nothing to prove!
They are trying to be hip, cool or on trend in the restaurant business. It's the thing now to refer to 'a plate'.

I went to see the Carol King musical Beautiful a few months ago. I would highly recommend it. It was amazing and very uplifting with a lot of memorable songs.
The friend I'm meeting tomorrow is mad to see Beautiful! But she wants to see it with hubby.

Im glad you enjoyed it! You sound like you are having a lovely time, sounds perfect to me!

Cats, keep your wits about you!
I taught one of the girls who was a Matilda, it's a good new show.

She must be an amazing girl to play the lead in the show. But then the whole cast are fab. They have some really original stuff in the show - scooters and beginning of second act.

Totally off topic, but as people in here have been talking about theatre ...............

I love the theatre and go as often as I can. I am in London soon and have booked tickets for Sunny Afternoon. I love The Kinks music, and have a CD permanently in the car. I have a confession to make. When I was in my teens I was a member of The Kinks fan club.

Has anyone seen the show?
Only booked one show? Lightweight! Book another!

Not yet but hopefully I will get to see it over the Christmas period. Funny Girl with Sheridan Smith is starting soon also. Not sure if I want to see it or not though as Streisand is a very tough act to follow.
We tried for that at the Menier but it was sold out. My friend is Jewish and loves Barbara Streisand. Sheridan Smith isn't bad either. Saw her a couple of times in Legally Blonde. She has fab charisma and stage presence.

I don't suppose you fancy a +1
I'll let you know! Friend has been poorly and might not be able to make tomorrow.......

Is that bloke from the period drama still playing the lead? He won an Olivier award.

I appreciate all music whatever the genre or period and even stuff from 60s!

Only one this trip to London, but we are not there long!! If you only knew how often we go to the theatre! Our local theatre is brilliant, and we go at least 8 times a year, for musicals, plays etc. Often pre London opening shows. Every time we go to London (several times a year) we go at least once. So we have seen many of the shows on at the moment. This is the person who has seen Mamma Mia 5 times, 4 times in various theatres in London, and once on Broadway. Blood Brothers 4 times; twice in London, and twice (2 years apart) at our regional theatre. The Ladykillers in London and locally. Etc., etc. I just LOVE it. The theatre is magical to me. I may be in my sixties, but inside there is still a child who loves the sparkle and atmosphere.

Hey, age is no matter, if you love it it's just a part of you!

Ewoodie, yes she is quite something, she has been in a few musicals, but this was a lead.
When she came in as a toddler I said she was going to be amazing, she has the personality for the stage for sure!

Evening all! Sorry to disturb your musical theatre do

Just to let you know if i'm not here next week my euro tickets have come through!

Either, I've bought a B & B and staffed it with Michelin star staff to win a FiaB plaque or bought a yacht and buggered off!

Stupid excuse, she would rather the brekkie was alright, but it was Trevor that went to get it, he could have taken it straight in.

I love the Kinks too, and was lucky enough (and old enough) to see them live back in the 60s, as well as The Who, The Animals, Roy Orbison and of course The Beatles - all at smallish local venues.

That price thing minus the pound sign I came across last week for the first time, in London staying at a Holiday Inn. I was by myself as I was there for work, and looked at the Room Service menu because I didn't want to be the sad old biddy dining alone in the restaurant. I couldn't work out for a while what the random figures were till I twigged they were prices. They didn't do that last time I stayed there which is less than 3 months ago.
